  1. I am a fan of Red Seat belts that were a option year after my car (2001) Apparently they are wider according to helpful tech at Suncoast. I have a oppurtunity to buy some cheap and curious if anyone has ever installed these on a 2001?

    thanks

I know that there is a difference between the two ('01-'02), it was a topic on 6speed about this.

I love too the red belts, they look awesome on a black interior! :)

  2. It is really nice from you guys to help me go through this bad moment. Of course, if I have problem with something you are always there to help me and other members to found a cure to different defects. But sometimes things are difficult to deal with. I probably had too much to deal with at the same times.

Thanks to you fdorn (Frank) you are really a nice person. I will always enjoy reading your post about your adventure on the track (I really envy you) and I will keep the F40 as a dream car. Can you imagine the cost of a 4 wheels brake jobs tongue.gif.

Maurice and Boston Duce, every time I see one of your post, I know I am dealing with experience people that know what they are talking about. I always read your comments with interest. Thanks to keep me back to reality and thanks for your encouragement.

Sunnyside, you are new to the forums and really really active. I remember reading somewhere that you have a lot of experience with cars. Your numerous answers to different problems people have had show that you are a very knowledgeable person. Thanks for your encouragement and please stay with us.

This morning I have raised my sleeves and start working on this beast. Did the Gbox mod, retorqued the drive shafts (in case) and did a good clean-up, Now I am waiting for the parts to arrived..... Thanks again J.P.

    thankyou.gif

This is the attitude that i like, keep up the good work JP!

ps. for everybody is hard in these days but when you go out in the night with the windows down the radio off just to cruise in the 996turbo all the problems disappear :P

  3. A good friend of mine drives a 997TT and told me that if he pulls the handbrake just one click, it somehow deactivates the 4WD system which sends power to the rear-wheels only. This seems to have been confirmed by several persons. (Will check the net about that...)

Does this apply to the 996TT too?...

no, the 997 has a new diff system.

  4. Looking for some advice or tricks to install of Diverter Valves (brand to buy undecided)and new boost hoses including F-hose on 01 996 TT Saw the DIY post and will use. Should I or do I need to lower engine to install DV's and F Hose? Seems like only way to do. Any advice on doing this install at home. I have lowered engine before, taken off back bumper and feel comfortable with hose install but never touched DV's. Thinking Synchronic's or Agency Power. Not sure if i want boost to blow off and not re circulate. The BOV sounds a little ghetto- maybe not suited to Porsche.

    Thank you

here is a good DIY, some say that is better to lower a little bit the engine( you don't need to take off the rear bumper) mine where mounted w/o lowering the engine. I have the Agency power dv's but i didn't buy the f hose.

don't buy the BOV ones is a porsche not a subaru!

I think that samco is the provider of all the hoses in the market...

  5. All

Im refitting the Bose subwoofer into my 2001 GT2 and the power cable is proving difficult to locate.

I have removed the carpet above the ECU plates, removed the ECU plates themselves, can see clearly where the cable should be coming through the indent in the metal plate on the LHS of the car, but cannot locate the cable itself.

So, does the cable run front to back through the centre of the car, in which case it should be under the rear carpet.

Or does it run down the left hand side of the car through the wing?

My car is right hand drive, but that shouldnt affect anything?

    Thanks

    2001 GT2

1974 Carrera RS tarmac rally car

I dont think there is a Bose subwoofer in an original GT2. The GT2 was designed to save weight and they did not

come with rear seats, sunroof, spare tire, etc.. Im almost positive there wasn't even an option for the Bose system.

Unless the car is not a real GT2.

The gt2 doesn't have the bose system

  6. Last night I measured my afr and i would like to share with you guys and tell me what to you think about it

    at normal driving: 14.5-14.7

    ~3000rpm: 12.8

    4000rpm: 12.5-12.7

    5000rpm: 12

    6200++:11.7

    Thanks!

The 14.7 at normal driving is good if you want good fuel economy...it's the stoichometric number for best use of Air and fuel, but... it's not the best number for power.

But it looks like your car is fattening up the fuel the higher it revs so that's good and the fact that it's 12.8, 12.5, 12, etc is awesome. If you can keep the AFR close to 12.5 without detonation than you're optimal for power too. You just don't want to run that lean of AFR at high revs on a boosted car if you're getting knock. Looks great to me...

    Thank you very much! :)

  7. Last night I measured my afr and i would like to share with you guys and tell me what to you think about it

  8. Do you have any O2 sensors? If not you are going to always get these faults.

yes i have them. today my tuner put another file in, hope that this time everything will be ok but a strange thing happen, after they install the file my fuel gauge was dead it was showing

    that i don't have fuel!

this is the second time that it happens after they install a new file, first time the gauge went up and showing ok after i put gas.

    anybody can explain why?

    thanks!

  9. P0420 TWC conversion, bank 1 - above limit

P0430 TWC Conversion, Bank 2 - Above Limit

    Possible fault cause:

    - Oxygen sensor ahead of and after TWC exchanged

    - Valve lift fault

    - Aged oxygen sensor after TWC

    - TWC faulty

If the CEL is flashing the car should not be run.

Hi Loren, the errors are form the cats, I am running w/o cats and the who tuned my car seems that cannot bypass the cats :(

  10. After I run hard the car I receive this errors :

    -P0430

    -P0420

Should I be worried about this ?

It seems that the tuner can't bypass the cats... how do you guys run?

Does anybody know if there is any difference between the european ecu and US one?

Is here someone from EU that runs w/o cats?

It seems that they cannot "bypass" the O2 sensors from the ecu...

    Any help please!?

    Thanks!

  11. If you lower the engine is it possible to exchange the turbo hoses and F hose without removing the rear bumper cover? I have a set of samco and in the DYI section it says this needs to be done but thinking it might not if engine is lowered?

    What do you think?

for the F hose you don't need to remove the rear bumper but for the rest of hoses i don't know

    maybe this helps

  12. Recently I've modified my car with an cargraphic exhaust w/o cats and ecu, I would like to know from other guys running w/o cats if the smell of gas is very persistent/"hard" ?! I know that if you are running w/o cats the car makes a lot of "smoke" but it can be from the ecu too or not ?!

And one more thing, can someone with a cargraphic exhaust put a pic with the car from behind bud from a lower position, thanks !

  13. Yesterday it was a beautiful day biggrin.gif cargraphic exhaust w/o cats and ecu by SKN are IN = ohh my god, pure sex/porn what do you what, it is incredible !!!

The noise at idle is normal but over 3k rpm eek.gifeek.gif and maximum boost is 1.0bar at wot !

I wanted to ask you guys if 1.1-1.2bar is bad for the turbos or car ? Because I will receive another file with a max boost of 1.25 ( I believe ) but from what i understand steady it will be 1.1 !?

Next week my DV's will arrive, and one more thing, should I change the plugs (the ones from the car are almost 2 years old and approximately 10-12k km) ?

    Thank you !
