  1. hm, i only tried to get rid of ipod scratches with silver polish paste 9took a while but worked), this is not glossy but matt so most likely you are stuck. unless you figure out other way I would try to find one of those protective plastic stickers (ipod, laptops etc) and try sticking one over - may make it better. alternative - buy new screen on e-bay. any computer repair shop should be able to swap them
  2. 1.4 software was produced recently. i havent tried it so no comment
  3. I now have the same (maybe i always had it but didnt play DVD). it only happens when DVD is played that is the only consistent factor that I can identify. I have DVD recorded with mp3.
  4. :welcome: You don't need a wiring diagram - Porsche produced a TSB with the complete installation procedure. TSBs are available here to view by our Contributing Members. i have looked for tsb for installing pcm3 into caayenne but could not find it. which number is it?
  5. go to dealer, ask to change region, they will request from porsche germany (harman) disk to reinstall soft on your hard drive. no other way found. even if you buy map disk for your region it will not load up, i tried it.
  6. http://www.knclub.ru/f/thread1928-7.html Do you have a translation? Did they have to break them apart or are they 2 piece? no breaking from what i can see, they heat it up with industrial "blowdrier" and take epoxi (or whatever that compound is) out. the front "glass" is then separated. (i can also see reports of people putting it into microwave. i wouldnt try it with 2007+ headlights as there is a lot of metal there) Cayenne headlights (i have 2009 T and maybe it is different on pre 2007) have sealing around front part but they are not hermetically sealed overall (there is a drain hole at the bottom) p.s. for translation try World Wide Lexicon Toolbar
  7. i can see that the only part required for retrofiting voice activation on PCM3 is the enabling code and new turn indicator switch (i have microphone already). Lets assume i have the code. the only difference with turn switch from a non-voice car is a button at the end of it. Looking at TSB I cannot see any cables that connect the turn switch and all other switches on steering wheel column to PCM. can anyone tell me how it is connected? are all signals go through CAN?
  8. The cost to do the entire front end on my C4S was $1400. Love those hips wouldnt new front cost about that much? :)
  9. just an FYI there is software update from v1.1 factory (09) to v1.4 with the followings bugs fixed: Here are the current "bugs" which are addressed: "INFO" and "MAP" buttons do not function if "INFO" or "MAP" is used to leave an open route list. <li>Incorrect display of remaining range when in "miles". <li>FM audio is muted until source is changed to AM. <li>When a saved preset station is selected, the wrong station is displayed. <li>In "ASIA" coding, RDS does not function. <li>Intermittent loss of XM radio. <li>Display does not match with the selected source. <li>iPhone: Audio playback does not restart after phone call. <li>USB device not available until system restart. <li>Only USA: Maps set to European styling (wrong highway colors, POI icons, etc.) <li>Temporary disappearance of TMC (traffic) messages during a drive cycle. <li>For Voice Control, the "closest gas stations" command results in a list of the closest hotels. <li>Bluetooth disconnection with Nokia mobile phones. <li>The first activation of any function of the steering column switches (i.e. turn signal) ends a current telephone call. <li>The opposite party cannot be heard in the vehicle if a phone call is made immediately after system start-up. <li>Pairing or connection with a mobile phone via Bluetooth is no longer possible, although it had previously functioned. all this from suncoast page where they sell it for $13 rethorical questioon - why would Porsche join the rest of the world in the 21st century and make their bug fixes available for download?
  10. maybe it is new on 2009 or just Turbo models but my seats on the back would not fold flat. they turn only abot 80 degrees out of 90
  11. regardless of the beam (which are different under DOT and E standards) you have to buy European headlights as inspector will look for "E" in circle marking on the headlight. That is how in my case they determined compliance (they had no clue about beams)
  12. how do yoou disable it? going trough settings in dashboard only disables it for one time and then iit comes on again. annoying as hell
  13. I have not imported into Canada (want to say upfront) but imported 955TT into France (a lot more differences in spec and standards). I have looked at tons of websites before and came across few posts like this which look like they are written by porsche dealer who doesnt want to lose business. Asking porsche local whether it is ok to import a car is just about the "least wise" idea. I can tell you what the answer will be. And those people lie a lot. Importing a porsche is no different than importing any other car. Worldwide warranty is 2 years on new cars. It has to comply to local safety standards (not to Porsche dealer preferences). Look at parts catalog. The difference between US and Canada will be minimal. Change those and go to local certification office. Looking at what kind of junk people are still allowed to drive on roads these days it is not that difficult to meet local safety standards.
  14. this is what they sent me as installation manual. looks like major work that would void warranty on PCM3. porsche_09__PCM3.0_interface_installation_manual.pdf
  15. just came across this company which specifically confirmed that this will work fro PCM3. http://www.xcarlink.co.uk/product.php?prod...t=21&page=1 sound too good to be true. anybody has heard of them have any experience?
  16. i have not done it on 987 (only on 996 and 955). plugs and form factor were the same - the only difference is marking on the glass (E vs DOT). it would be too expensive for Porsche to have too many differences between regional versions so i guess with 99% certainty you can swap one for the other
  17. it may not called aftermarket connector, what i mean is there should be a connector in the car somewhere, which is supplied for installing aftermarket accessories into the car, so we dont just tapped into to any other circuits. "should be" but there isn't one. take power from lighter. that is all you can "tap" in that car. i assume you are not trying to integrate external dvd with your sound system because that is a different game altogether
  18. let me know if you need one as i have a spare and will sell below list price
