  1. I found that it took around 10 min to temporarily remove the vertical section of the console and set it aside to feel out what the GT3 delete mod would be like. I couldn't get the smile off my face. It was Wonderful!!!!!!! So I ordered the GT3 delete parts for less than $150 yesterday. I alos pulled out the shifter and cut the post down 7/8" which much improves the angle of the arm (tall guys=long arms) and shortens the throw. That cost nothing. BTW, I'm 6'#" and 208 lbs. Bob
  2. Hold down the TP button for at least 10 seconds after you turn the radio on. "Becker 1" will be displayed. Rotate the right knob (slowly) and it will display the Becker model number. Then rotate it again and the serial number should be displayed on the radio. Write it down and post it here. Right now I get a WAIT display. Will the 10 sec get me past that?? Also, I have a set of keys.....I inserted them and pulled until my fingers hurt bad...felt like I would break something! Should I get a set of gloves and just pull harder or am I forgeting something. Right now I just have a set of stuck keys in the dash! Thanks much for the help. Bob Loren .... I tried the 10 sec on the TP button and it worked. The serial number is Y5024942. But I still have to get the keys out of there so I guess the radio unit has to get pulled out somehow. I'll need to get back in there later for some other work, so I'd better learn how to use the keys. I want to do a GT3 delete of the vertical console (I'm 6'3" and need the space).....The car has that fancy radio tuning panel that changes the mode of sound etc, etc. I haven't heard my sound system yet, so I don't know itf it's worth trying to salvage that optional unit or how I would do that with the GT3 mod done. Lots to learn! Any advice on that? Thanks again, Bob Oh, please CANCEL that request for the radio code... I got the serial number, mustered enough strength to yank the radio out, called two Porsche dealers and got the @#$%^ code. It works fine now. But I have no instruction book for that reverb, sound mode thingy that is mounted under my cd storage rack. I have to admit it sounds good when playing with all the buttons, but I really don't know what I'm doing without user manual. The thing may have to hit the road (e-Bay) if I do the GT3 delete! Any idea where I can find an user manual for the optional thingy???? Thanks, bob

  5. Hi... I just bought a 2001 Boxster and the owner had lost the code before letting the batt go dead last winter. I was getting ready to yank out the CR-220 to do the serial number thing and I found this Thread. Any specific code numbers that I should try first??? Thanks, Bob
  6. With the top up (shortly after a heavy rain, for what it’s worth). The remote would not lock the car. The LED on the remote lights and the LED beneath the windshield pulsed rapidly while the remote’s button was being depressed. No signal light flashing. Also, the little “key” rocker switch beside the radio was constantly lit afterwards. A few minutes later the thing seemed to work normally, maybe after opening the door a few times! I’m new to this 2001 Boxster and this happened in my own garage, but I want to understand what happened so I can deal with it before I’m locking up in some crime zone. Any advice, explanations? Thanks, Bob
  7. The green drip is unmistakeable......... Bob
  8. I JUST brought home my '01 Boxster with 29,ooo miles on it. A few hours later there was a saucer sized damp spot under the front left headlight area, which I identified as antifreeze. That's somewhere around the back of the radiator there, and I'm PRAYING that it's a loose hose connection or something like that. Does anyone know how hard it is to get into that area in order to check it out. I can afford the car, but not the Porsche mechanic just now!!!!! Thanks, Bob
  9. I'm new to the Boxster (a 2001) and considering the Bentley's Boxster service manual for $100. Are there any opinions availble about this product or better deals on it or alternative service manual choices?
