  1. Hey guys, Just sold my Boxster S and want to buy a Cayenne S or Turbo to replace it. Thought I would ask your collective wisdom on: 1) What to look out for with the Turbos - I understand the coolant pipes under the intake manifold need to be replaced if they haven't been done already. Anything else? 2) I've seen quite a few S models in the 2004-2006 vintage. Price is attractive (under $25k). But some have mileage over 100k. Is that something I need to worry about on these motors if they have good records? I'm not buying anything without having my mechanic give her the once over and I'll require very solid records and good tires. What questions am i not asking or what do I not know that will bite me? best, Stefan Seattle, WA
  2. Hi.. where did you get your Gemballa springs and how much did they run? Was it just a simple swap or did you encounter difficulties? I've got a 2001 S and am thinking about the same swap. obliged, Stefan
  3. Because Mobil 1 does not make a fluid with the correct GL rating to make it compatible with these transmissions...........other than that, no reason........... What is the correct GL rating then? Mobil 1 does make a synthetic 75W90 which is what my Bentley manual specifies. I didn't find a GL rating in it.
  4. Why on earth would one not use Mobil 1 Synthetic in the transmission?
  5. Just to be clear then, the M490 in 2001 used an analog Harman Kardon amp, right? So the DSP isn't a drop-in, cable or not? thanks, S.
  6. In an effort not to bugger up my stock shifter housing (while trying the SSK) I want to buy a second housing to muck with. I've found a 5-speed and I wonder if it is basically the same unit as the 6-speed (the housing, not the shifter). I imagine I could check the parts catalog but I thought someone might have some quick, direct knowledge of this. thanks, S. 2001 Boxster S
  7. I was wondering if I can add the DSP unit from a Premium setup to my HiFi setup. I have a 2001 S Boxster. I'm thinking that I might just need to buy a cable or two to make this work but I'm wondering if anyone has any direct experience. thanks, S.
  8. Would there be anything very wrong in replacing the door speakers with INFINITY KAPPA 52.7i speakers. Seem to be the right size and given that they are very capable replacements (from what I've read here) for both front and rear speakers why not use them in the doors?
