  1. Yes, I had my Tip dyno'd. Are you asking to find out if it is possible? Or are you asking to find out if anyone else has had any error lights pop up? Or are you wanting to know what RWHP tips put out? My car was dyno'd (dynamics dyno) and no CELs came on at all. It was held in 3rd gear in manual mode. The number was 260 RWHP. Seemed low to me, but TIPS have more loss in HP than sticks. It is a fact we live with, which is why I SC'd my car. I have not done another dyno yet though.. I didn't have the CEL light come on, only the ABS light. It went out as soon as I drove off from the speed shop. We tried to get the car to shift in manual mode but as soon as the ABS light came on it did not work. Even after I drove away manual control did not work until car was started 4 times after the dyno run. I was shooting for 260 RWHP but surprised by the 220 I saw.
  2. This weekend I went to a speed shop as they were having a "Dyno Day". Three pulls for $35. A group of friends went which consisted of 3 -60's vintage Mustangs, a 95 993 and my '00 C2 Tiptronic. None of the Mustangs were really hopped up so I figured I would end up with the best horsepower number for the day. However, when they started my run the manual shift mode shut down as the ABS warning light came on. He shut the car down but manual shift control was not restored. The horsepower only showed 220. The '95 993 came up with 233 (his was a stick). I was kind of embarrased. The car would not shift with manual mode until I had driven the car ~4 times (I guess it cleared the "limp mode"). When I got home I hooked up my Durametric scanner and there were several codes for the engine and a couple for the Tiptronic. Essentially, these were all ABS sensor malfunctions. My question is, has anyone dynoed a Tiptronic?
  3. I live in Fort Worth so have only used Autobahn for dealer needs. As the previous post mentioned most items are cheaper on the internet. I did contact Sunset Porsche for some M030 springs (they gave me a great price, cheaper than Pelican Parts). Then I contacted Autobahn. Autobahn was significantly (maybe twice) higher (don't remember exact numbers). When I balked he asked if I had found it cheaper and mentioned that I had contacted Sunset. He immediately dropped the price to within $20/set more than what Sunset had quoted. I usually try to support the local companies unless there is a significant price difference. In this case the price was close enough that I bought from Autobahn. Sunset quoted 1 month for delivery whereas Autobahn said 5 days. So I got it from Autobahn but would not hesitate to go back to Sunset. One thing to consider if you need to return an item it is much easier to drive over there than it is to mail it back (IMO).
  4. Mine typically rides in the normal zone you show but has gotten higher in stop and go, pretty close to where you show (that is whether it is 50F or 100F in Fort Worth Texas). Highest it has gotten is over 200 mark when driving on a track and reving the engine to redline.
  5. Exact same thing happened to me today. I jacked the car up so I could change the oil. I got in the habit of using the engine as the rear jack point because lowering springs that I previously had on the car made it too low to put anywhere else. As I was raising it up noticed this oily substance coming out and sure enough traced it to the engine mount. I won't jack from the engine again! Merry Christmas present. Just one more thing to fix.
  6. Thanks again, I have booked my car into HP Motorsport as they are closer to my offices. I will post my report once the car has been returned and the invoice has been settled. Hi All. Just a quick update. I have just had the car serviced by HP Motorsport. Excellent service, really helpfull people. Definately recommend them to anyone in the South East England, nr Hainault. The gearbox slippage was due to the MAF sensor. Now replaced and goes like a 911 should, its never driven so well. Sly, how did you find out it was the MAF? Was there a code that showed up?
  7. Hey Butch, can't help with an answer but I am interested in what you find out. I have the exact same problem in my '00 C2 tip. I have 86k miles on it. I had Autobahn Porsche in Fort Worth change the fluid at ~80k miles (I bought the car with 76k miles). They said that the fluid was kind of "gunky" and said that they ran the computer for codes and nothing came up. I am not too sure if they actually ran the codes though. I bought a Durametric scanner and ran the codes myself and nothing showed up, no CEL light either. I thought the problem might be in some kind of electronic throttle reving the engine since it is just a few hundred RPM and not about 1000 RPM for a full downshift to 4th gear. I found through searching on here that someone else has replaced the MAF and that got rid of the problem. Izzy has said that it could be the solenoids in the Tip but you should get a code on the scanner. Kind of perplexing in that this is my daily driver and loads of fun. I am a little anal and this problem just bothers me even though it doesn't seem like a big deal...SO FAR! I'll keep you posted if I find anything and look for your responses to see if you find anything.
  8. I'm interested to see what you find out. I have a similar problem in my 2000 C2 tip. When running in 5th on usually smooth surface I detect the engine RPM move up about 300 - 500 or so. Not quite a full downshift. The shift indicator has not changed. I have 86 k miles on this car and it is my daily driver. I had Autobahn Porsche in Fort Worth replace the fluid at ~ 80k. They said they scanned the car and no problem noticed (if they actually did it). I purchased a Durametric scanner and no codes come up for the Tiptronic. El Acura, did you get any codes to tell you it was the solenoid? I do not have a CEL light.
  9. I had a check engine light show up a couple of times after filling up. Wasn't the gas cap. Both times went to Autozone and they read a P0430 (I think, cant remember). That is a high reading on O2 sensor bank 2 (or something like that). Last time it happened had it reset at Autozone and came back on the same tank of gas. Ordered a Durametric. While I was waiting for the Durametric I filled up again, different station and light went away. Never came back. Durametric did not show any codes when I got it. Both times light came on I filled up at a local station. I assume it was the gas. I don't fill up there any more. May not help you now but something to consider
  10. Izzy, thanks for trying these out. I am very interested in your impresson of these on a daily driver. My car has enough road noise with my tire and road combination that the stereo has to be turned up somewhat just to hear it well. Would like to hear the car sometimes but don't want to have to yell to passengers. Sounds to me like you don't leave these on all the time.
  11. Thanks for the reply Loren. I had only one P code checked by a couple of different Autozones. I just filled up at a different gas station and magically the CEL is gone. The previous two times that the CEL came on for P0430 was when I had just filled up at the same (not the one today) gas station. However, I have also filled up there many times before. I guess they got some bad gas. Station is new so I wouldn't expect problems with the tank. I always use premium. Anyway, hopefully this saves me the cost of a catalytic converter.
  12. Couldn't find much searching so I thought I would throw out a question. I have a '00 C2 coupe tiptronic with 83k miles. About 1 month ago I got a P0430 CEL (catalyst below threshold). Autozone cleared it and it just came up again, both times this occured I had just filled up, gas cap is tight. I have reset the code a couple of times on this tank of gas but has come back. Talked to the dealer and they said that it is rarely the cat more likely an O2 sensor. For $120 they will do some checking, including running an ohm check on the O2 sensors. If it is the O2 sensor then I would have to pay their price for the part and $120/hr in labor. So I figure I could buy a scan tool and do this myself. I did some quick research and was considering the Auto-enginuity or Durametric. Talked to Auto-enginuity and theirs seemed to be a good deal until I found out that not all of the options are supported for Porsche (e.g. real time sensor data). So I bought the Durametric system based upon the input from this website. So my question to the group is, I will get this scanner and it will show me the P0430 but will it give me any details about the O2 sensor? Can it run the "ohm" check like the dealer so I can figure out which one it is, if that is the problem? Your input is appreciated.
  13. Has anyone tried the Fabspeed Muffler Bypass Pipe? I have seen postings about the cat bypass but not the muffler bypass. Anyone?
  14. Do you have to remove the track rod in order to remove the strut? C2
  15. Filter was changed and they indicated that there were no P codes. However, the service manager had to go back to the tech to confirm that codes were read. Could they be lying???? I had a CEL light for my catalytic converter a couple of weeks ago and Autozone read the codes. Nothing for the tranny.
  16. Do you have to undo the tie rod end (ball joint)? The manual seems to indicate that is necessary on the front struts but the DIY doesn't mention it.
  17. Had the ATF flushed out and changed by the dealer. Seems to be somewhat better now but I still detect the shift sequence mentioned at the top occasionally. BTW I was charge $390.
  18. Did you get a check engine light when your pressure regulator went bad?
  19. Thanks, I had just pulled that up. By the way, what about the pressure regulator change? Did you do that at the same time?
  20. Did you by chance do the work yourself? If so how difficult? If not how much was it? My drive is long and wide open so not harsh conditions. However, I don't know how the car was driven for the first 75k miles.
  21. No I haven't change the filter or ATF yet. I believe that occurs at 100k. Someone thought it might be slipping but I don't get a "seat of the pants" feeling that I loose momentum (me shift forward) when it happens. If anything maybe a slight backward shove of my butt (however that may just be in my mind too).
  22. I have a 2000 C2 coupe tiptronic. I have had the car since mid-June so it is fairly new to me and it is my daily driver. My question is related to the Tip shifting. I usually drive in automatic mode and don't accelerate very hard away from stops. I have noticed that in the shift between 4 and 5 there is an engine rev, almost like a downshift, just before it goes into 5th gear. I am not sure that there is an actual downshift but the RPMs do increase about 500 or so and then drops sometime right around the shift to 5th. Could this be a normal shift program? Perhaps this is part of the electronic throttle reving the engine just prior to the shift. Anyone out there have an idea? I have no CELs. I just rolled past 80k miles. Thanks
  23. Any idea where I can find out what was on the list?
  24. Can anyone shed light as to how I might find out the option associated with option code 09991? On this website it says "Exclusive Option" but give no details. How can I dig up what this option was? Thanks
