  2. i put the old ignition switch back in and still nothing even with the tap under the dash.

i didnt put the light switch back in but i dont think that makes a different.

should i just get a another new switch?

    the old part # is 996 347 017 06 and the new one is 996 347 017 07.

is the old part an updated part ?? (maybe it was replaced before i bought it)

and i found a wire hanging out of the fuse box what is that ?

    post-22197-1255292336_thumb.jpg

  3. Does the car show P (park) in the display?

The main fuse is behind the rear seats carpet near the DME.

yes on P i moved it through the gears and the shifter lights work fine.

ok i will check the main fuse in few min what is DME ??

what is the fuses look like?? just a regular fuse ?

big orange fuse behind the back seat under the carpet on the driver side is good.

  4. Does the car show P (park) in the display?

  5. HMM

    i replaced the Ignition Switch

before putting it all together i started the car and it started fine.

now that i put everything together, nothing

all the lights come on but it will not turn over.

now tapping under the steering wheel will not start the car either.

Check the connections on the switch.

    Check the main fuse.

Check that you didn't accidentally bump the clutch switch.

checked the connection on the switch

Main fuse ?? meaning in the fuse box ?? i checked all of them in the fuse box all good.

    Tip no clutch switch.

    <_<

  7. ignition problem

some times i turn the key/ignition to start the car, all dash lights come on normal but the engine will not turn over

then i push the key IN hard or tap under the dash (under the ignition) and it will start and it fine for days.

what do u guys think ???

    thanks

    2000 996 tip 165,000 miles

  8. just went over 160,000 miles and the ignition works fine now. i almost took it apart to replace the ignition. but as i was taking the left vent off, the wheel locked and i wiggled the wheel while it was locked and heard a click. and i retired to start the car and started fine. put the vent back together and has been working fine since.

lets see how long it will last.

    on another note :(

  9. Hello all, last few starts when i turn the ignition on all the lights come on and everything is normal.

but when i try to crank it, NOTHING all the lights stay on but no action.

trying it few time with turning the key out and maybe man handling the key it will start.

is it the ignition switch?? or any idea's ??

if it is ignition do i need new keys also?

and how long does it take to replace?

  10. Removing secondary air pump (USA vehicles only)

Undo the starter ground cable on the body. Open the spring band clamp using commercially available spring-band clamp pliers and push to the rear. Undo the three fastening screws on the secondary air pump. Disconnect electrical connection and remove pump from vehicle.

    thank you sir

  11. I would compare it to other Boxsters - perhaps you just notice it more - or perhaps it has a bearing going.

ok thanks it is a 996 and yes for sure it has been louder others notice it also and asked me what it was so it is loud.

    easy job to replace ?
