  1. I've finally got my PSS-9s in!!!! :D :D :D As I am getting the work done in an aftermarket shop (SOON!!!), is there anything that I should be purchasing from Porsche beforehand (factory bolts -can they be re-used, etc..) that will make the transition smoother/"more" proper?? Also, anyone do a Instruction Play-By-Play description that would assist me in ensuring that all is going as BILSTEIN planned? Are there any Caveats, minor or otherwise, Suggestions, etc?? Thanks Again!!! lap
  2. bagarospo, I just received a bunch of stuff from Carnewal and I live in Canada (but I am of Italian descent ;) and usually quite proud of it -EXCEPT when the friggin Italian Soccer Coach puts a team on complete DEFENSE  )... sorry, I digress... :P ) I think Gert proabably has the better deals around, and I'm sure you're shipping charges (and your inherent EURO currency) will work out better for you than it did for me! Post Pic's when done! Ciao! lap
  3. been a PCA member close to 15 years! Look forward to spending time with my monthly Panorama & Provinz (Ontario) -- HEY I can't be DRIVING all the time ;)
  4. It sounds like you were seeking exactly what I'm looking for in my Targa: Handling on Rails w/ Street Pot-Hole Compliance. I've had "some" experience setting up the older 911's (After all these years, I am almost close to having my 1989 Speedster "just right" ;) ) but found the stock 996 suspension w/ 17" factory wheels rode like a modern version of my Father's Monte Carlo, and unfortunately no where near the go-cart tossability of my tuned 1989. I am quite particular about suspensions (have pretty much changed them all if I decided to keep the car for the "long haul") and that is why I chose the PSS9's: for it's adjustability. As for the "psycological" effect: I am not a Doctor, but I do self-diagnose from time to time :P . Wait, maybe that is a cry for help :clapping: I can however, tell you with certainty, that MY Stock Non-Sport Suspension and 17" Factory Set up most "Definately" exihibits a difference with the roof open --with the open roof the front end / steering becomes MUCH lighter a-la-old-911 style. I have started (my journey into "poor"dome) by replacing the 17's w/ HRE's 18x8(225) 18x10(295) and this has helped somewhat. Another test I tried was with the rear spoiler. I got to highway speed (ok, well just slightly over our 100km/hr limit  ) and opened the roof. The front end lightness returned. I manually lifted the spoiler (no I did not run out behind the car :P but used the underdash button -- I've got to re-wire that to the centre console one day!) and the front now really "seemed" to lift. When I drive the same speed with the roof closed, I cannot really tell "that much" of a difference when I engage the rear spoiler! In summary, I can only assume that (similar to the older cars) when the suspension gets "tightened" up, the weight transfer would also follow suit.
  5. Thanks for all the replies! TDinDC did you add the GT3 Sways when you also installed the PSS9s, or before/after (ie. just wondering if you tried the car with just the PSS's first). Also, what height settings and shock settings (1-9) did you find works best for you. One of the reasons I chose the PSS9's is that I wanted the utmost adjustability. I could really notice the difference (w. the Factory Std "SOFT" Suspension) in handling when I opened my roof (with more weight being transferred to the rear) vs. when the roof was closed. Too bad the glass Targa roof is fed through the windshield during installation, for if it was easily removable (alla old Targa Style) It would be very interesting to do some comparitive testing. :D
  6. The reason I was inquiring is that some have said that the Targa/Convertible versions might be different because of the extra weight in the T/C versions. I was just trying to get some clarity on the issue. Thank You, lap
  7. I was just wondering if someone could help clear up some of my confusion (I know that can be a BIG job at times  ) I have a 2k2 Targa and am about to order pss-9s. I have heard that there is a different kit for the Targa/Cabriolet vs the Coupe. Is this correct or are they all the same? TIA lap
  8. I have a 2k2 Targa and have the problem of hitting my right hand on my right knee in my preferred seating position. Let me know if you successfully drop your seat. Conversely I was also looking to get a "smaller" diameter steering wheel to gain clearance. I have not been successful in that either, as I do want to retain the air-bag. successful lap
  9. Ok, First and foremost I am now officially "more broke" than when I was 17 BUT I have 2 beautiful girls in the garage, both of which require some work. #1) 2002 996 Targa which is going to get a GT2 nose swap. Is there any "rear" spoilers/lid combo(?) similar to the GT2 rear lid assembly that would "easily" fit in the stock lid area? #2) Ok, don't ask how ... but I broke off the ET (come home) 3rd brake light on my 1989 speedster and can't seem to get an allen key to remove the 2 screws under the rear lid. It almost appears that I have to remove the entire lid to get at these 2 screws. Does anybody have any idea of how this 3rd light can be "easily" removed. as always, THANKS!!! lap , email = lpspeedster@netscape.net
  10. Ok, don't ask how ... but I broke off the ET 3rd brake light on my 1989 speedster and can't seem to get an allen key to remove the 2 screws under the rear lid. 11. Was there any resolution to this Fuel Guage issue. I have a 2k2 Targa w. 4k kms (yes I'm Canadian) and have had the Guage malfunction twice with no codes being thrown. In both instances: - the weather was cold -10Celcius (it is Canada after all ;) ) - the Guage showed before Fill UP (yellow tel-tale and 76 kms left to empty & yellow tel-tale and 45 kms left to empty) - after fill up same readings remained - drove car spritedly ("SO SORRY OFFICER, JUST TRYING TO GET MY GAS GUAGE TO WORK PROPERLY" ) - Same "Low Fuel" readings  - Shut down briefly & restarted car with no resolution - Shut down car for few hours: THEN GUAGE WENT BACK TO ACCURATE As stated, Dealership found no faults either time <_< any suggesions TIA lap
  12. First and Foremost: HAPPY NEW YEAR & Safe and Fun Motoring! I just came from a local dealer who advised that they had a GT2 front bumper for a reasonable price HOWEVER all the additional items (HARDWARE, Bottom Lip, etc) would amount to MORE than the Bumper itself! I am really interested in putting on this front end (1/2 staff thought it would fit and the other 1/2 swore it would not) on my 2002 Bi-xenon Targa. My Questions: 1. Would a GT2 front bumper fit my 2k2 Targa (w/out "headaches" -it will be done by a reputable bodyshop of course) 2. What Parts do I actually require?? 3. What is the "total" approximate cost? 4. Are there sources (US) State Side that are recommended Any help would be GREATLY APPRECIATED AS ALWAYS. email: lpspeedster@netscape.net TIA lap
  13. That would be GREAT if I could start with those. You can e-mail me directly @ lpspeedster@netscape.net. THANKS! lap
  14. THANKS Loren. BTW would you know where I can get any info on replacing my Cable Release for my 1989 speedster roof-cover "humps" (not the one that 'locks' the humps in place, but rather the one that PULLS down the Humps in the Closed position) Thanks again! lap
  15. thanks 1. I always keep my stock "stuff" just in case you need to bring the car back to its "original" state... you know for that "just-can't pass up that gt2 type deal" :D 2. do you know which company makes an applicable "996 harness stereo connection" 3. do I need the factory radio for anything else: Auto Alarm Resetting; Diagnostic Features; etc??? lap
  16. My CAR: 2002 targa with UPGRADED Hi-Fi (i.e. Cassette) My RANT: Ok, I really don't know why this love affair thing with cassettes on high end German Cars (Porsche, MB, BMW) still exists, but why is CD an $$$OPTION!! My SOLUTION: I can get a in-dash DVD Player for slightly more than a Factory CD Changer. My PROBLEM: 1. Do I need to retain the Stock Radio for ANYTHING (reading/ re-setting codes, etc.) 2. Are there any aftermarket Wiring Harness Adapters so I don't have to chop up the Factory wiring. THANKS in advance. lap
  17. I thought the face-lifted +2002's had an "engine" protective shield already?
  18. Ok Loren, Just so I don't screw this up, 1. what are the exact #'s to give HRE (w/ the most agressive offset built in, i.e. no extra spacers required) 2. 235's will work w/out rubbing? b/c you indicated "the fronts rub on the inside"?? THANKS AGAIN!
  19. Thanks Loren! Some additional points: 1. 2002 Targa = Primarily Street Car (for SPIRITED DRIVING) & some track 2. OFFSETS: you mentioned: ... Approved 18 wheels (w/offsets) are: Front: 8J X 18 offset - "50.0/52.0" is that a range? Also, if 5mm spacers are "allowed" in the front, cannot I get that "built into" the wheel (Fr and Rr) from HRE? I don't think I want to risk the 235's up front unless I know for certain that I will not have "rubbing", BUT I definitely want to reduce understeer. Right now my 1989 speedster w/ Koni Yellows feels much MORE connected, I know they are completely different creatures but I would like to get that same feeling in the newer car. TIA!
  20. I was considering getting for my 02 Targa some HRE 543's (18") and wanted to know how wide can I go for Front / Back, in Wheel Width / Tire Size / & Proper Offsets. PS> I am going to most likely upgrade to a PSS-9 system in the future as well. TIA lap
