  1. I am back...I hooked up the UView Airlift to check for leaks. As it started to pull the gauge got to 15psi and the then there was a release and fluid can out of the tube. I clamped the overflow hose and the same thing occurred. Are there other hose to clamp to see if there are leaks? Also when I use it to replace the fluid are there hoses that need to be clamped off? Sorry I am so dense but this one is getting to me. THanks for all responses.
  2. Thanks I will reconnect the wire to the plug and just tie them up.
  3. I did my rotors/pads but did not install the wear sensors at all (disconected at the wheel carrier) . Now my dash light is on. Will just plugging in the sensor get the get the light to go out (leaving them out of the pads)? I assume I can run this car without the sensor? Thanks
  4. Maxspeed Motorsports sell a LED in clear or smoked. You can buy one or both. http://www.maxspeed-motorsports.com/9963rd.html
  5. AirLift is the tool used to change the coolant in a 996. I was trying to pressure test my system but it seems to loose vaccum at about 15psi. The instructions say to clamp all vent or overflow hoses but I only see the one. I was asking if anyone has used this tool and what other hoses should be clamped off. Thanks
  6. I tried to use the Air Lift on my system today. Hooked it up...at 15psi it lost pressure and fluid came out of the hose. I tried clamping the overflow tube but no improvement. Are there other hoses I should be clamping? Am I missing something? My car doesnt leak at all. I was just checking it prior to changing the coolant. THanks
  7. I have read all these postings and I still am insure of something. I have the UView pump but how do I get the original fluid out of the car? If I just unhook hoses etc. it will go everywhere and that doesnt seem like a great idea. Can the suction pump pull the liquid out or am I missing something? Thanks
  8. The install is very easy. I believe there is a video of it being done on You Tube. Maybe search Raby? The video has a couple of tips that are very useful during the install.
  9. I have ordered the tool to check the coolants quality. And I have the UView pump. But if I should want to change the coolant it seems I need to buy at least 7...1.5 liter bottles of Pentosin G12 coolant. The cars capacity is about 22 liters so half of that is 11 liters. Does that seem correct? 2000 996 (NB) Thanks
  10. I live in Las Vegas...hot hot hot in summer. My 2000 6speed never moves above 180 (by the gauge) even w/AC. I cant help but wonder if Porsche tested their cars in desert climates? If they did the car should not overheat or run too hot. It would seem to me that if a car is running too hot then something in the system is not working as designed. I really dont get the whole discussion.
  11. I had a set of these and had 295/30/18 on them. So I dont think that tire size is a problem. However, the fronts are 7.5x18 and a 265 will be to big in front.
  12. Did you look in the 996 Forum...there was a thread about the RMS tool and what to do with it after it was used....will any of the local shops rent/loan it? (Carls Place or Premier Motorsports)
  13. My oil fill tube has split and is in two parts. I have taped the pieces back together. How important is it to have a 1 piece fill tube? Should I go to the hassel of removing the alt., etc to replace it or is it ok taped? Thanks
  14. I checked it is an 02 70C so I asume that means an 03 70C wont work? Sorry for the repitition but a good price for a new 03 70C is at muy local shop. THanka again.
  15. I dont because I would like to get a new cluster before I remove the old one. Also, do I need the milage "flashed" to a new console? Wil a dealer do it or do I need NH SPeedo or someone like that? THanks
  16. Thanks for the fast reply. Are the years different? So a 996 641 103 03 70C wont work? THanks again. I have a "crystal" forming in the oil level area that appears to be getting bigger. Do I need to replace the cluster?
  17. Can I get a part number for a guage cluster for a 2000 996 w/6speed? Thanks
  18. So is there a fix? It wasnt a problem before I removed and reinstalled..I just cleaned the car and put the seat back in. Pinched wire...bad receptacle, replug the harness? Thanks for any help.
  19. I switched seats this weekend and when I went to drive it I had the airbag light on. Connected DUrametric and the Driver and Passenger said fault 49. I reset both but the passenger one keeps going on. Did I miss somethibg when I reinstalled the seats? 2000 996 Carrera Thanks
  20. I have a gauge cluster that has developed a snowflake like burst in the middle of the clock/oil level section. I have found a cluster for sale with part number 996-641-223-07 70C. I looked up my 2000 model and it appears that it needs a 996 641 103 03 70C. Is this correct or are the clusters interchangeable? Also can the oil level/clock be replaced separately? Thanks in advance. I halve a 2000 996 with manual trans.
  21. I have a slipping clutch. I have 2 questions 1. Should I use a Porsche assembly or is there an assembly that will give more milage...I dont think 38000 miles is reasonable. 2. I dont use any oil but should I plan on doing the RMS at the same time? Thanks
  22. The stock ones are 2 sided taped on...on mine I just carefully pried the sill up by moving around and lifting a small portion at a time...they just came off.
