  1. The box you see is a small bose amp. Many folks have sent a signal from their new head units to this amp with mixed results. I am in the process of doing just that but will likely put true subs run off an external amp at some point. If you have an amp already I would reccomend you bypass the small bose amp all together. Read here for an idea how to do this http://www.planetporsche.net/cayman-boxste...html#post385565 John W
  2. I am looking to put something that is more functional than the PCM2.1 unit that came with the car. Having to use rotary knobs to select each letter and having about 2 POIs is less than ideal. Also a good prortion of the roads here are not on the map.
  3. I am thinking about removing the PCM2.1 unit, bose amp, and DVD nav unit from my car. I have a 997s with Sport Chrono package and was unsure what functionality I would lose? I would think (and hope) that the sport and PASM functionality would still funtion but I would lose some of the diagnostics that show up on the PCM. Is this the case? Thanks, JW
  4. I am looking to remove my PCM 2.1, Nav system and replace it with a pioneer system. I also have a multifunction wheel that I would like to keep integrated. Has anyone been able to do this? Any help would be greatly appreciated. I have seen info for Cayanes but not for a 997.1 (2005 C2S). My local installer thinks it can be done but I was hoping to do it myself but don't know what parts I need. Thanks, John
  5. I am finally in the market for a new car after being carless for the past few years in NYC. I am moving away and will need a new Porsche (at least new to me). I had a boxster in the past and loved it. Now I that I am looking again I am not sure what I want yet. I have narrowed it to roughly 2 cars a 2007 Boxster S and a 911 2004 C4S with very low milage. I am dring both tomorrow. Is the 911 that much more car? Would the convertible boxster be more fun? What about performance? Resale? Price is pretty similar on these 2. Thanks, John W
