  1. SOLVED! Gauge error. I know the oil issue has been hashed around a lot and I have read numerous posts. Given that my new (to me car) already needs a new transmission due to a bad PPI :censored: , I am now paranoid about everthing. Car: 1999 996 C4 - 6 speed - new to me in the last couple of weeks. Issue: Oil pressure gauge appears to read about 0.8 bars low. Oil: Mobil 1 0W40 - changed last week. (I will likely go to a 5W50 next time) Engine: Remanufactured 3.4L with a total of 25K miles on it. Cold start up - 4.0 to 4.2 bars - never higher Hot idle - 0.8 to 1.1 bars idling at about 600 rpm - engine showing ~190F (no evidence of warning light Hot @ 3K rpm - 3.0 to 3.1 bar Does this sound like the sender more than anything? Given that it appears to be consistently off.... Many thanks
  2. I just picked up a higher mileage (84K miles) 1999 C4. It seems that under load there is more significant noise from the transmission (than I am used to in my 951 which is silent for intents and purposes). This noise is a whine that exists mostly under load at higher speeds (55 to 75 mph). The car was PPIed by a dealer in Texas and my indie mechanic has changed the fluid. Neither have remarked anything untoward. I also drove another high mileage C4 today and it exhibited the same characteristics. Is this normal behaviour for a C4 transmission? Thanks
  3. Quick question. I have a 1999 C4 without the 4th stalk, but it is displaying the outside temperature, does this mean the OBC has been turned on? Many thanks.
  4. This is an excellent site and this thread was perfect. Just did my first 996 DIY, 2 minutes max. Air Filter and headlights next.
  5. First post here on Renntech... Just bought a 996 and need to spruce up the interior and this looks like something that I can do (did a full dash swap on my 951). Where does one get the trim kit? Pongobaz - if you have any thoughts on where to get the carbon fibre kit in Canada - I would greatly appreciate the advice. Many thanks Fergus
