  1. Check out Mike Frocke's cumulative page on batteries. http://sites.google....ocke2/batteries
  2. gpt817, What type of mods do have on your 996TT? I have a stock 996TT and would like to, initially, get an ECU flash as my first mod. aquinto
  3. I have a 2004 TT Cab and I've used the trick of turning the gas pump grip 180 degrees, basically it's upside-down, and holding it there until it clicks offs. This seems to be working for me and filling up my tank completely.
  4. I just went for my first smog test for my 2004 996TT and I forgot to tell the technician that it was AWD. I did not notice that he was going to put it on rollers. As I was sitting in the waiting room, I heard a revving then a screeching of tires and a stopped engine. I ran out the garage bay area and noticed that he put it on rollers. ****. I saw skid marks where the front tires were on pavement. I told him it was AWD. He apologized and said he'll pay for everything if there was any damage. He finished the testing, then drove my out around the block to clear all the lights. Everything seems fine. All lights were clear and it seems to drive as before. My question is, what type of damage could have occurred? And how should I follow up on verification that everything is fine? TIA, Art
  5. I am not a member of the Porsche club and am unaware of the 10% discount at a certain discount tire shop. I'd be interested in the Porsche club. I just got my (new to me) 2004 996 Turbo Cab last year. Still learning much about Porsches.
  6. It is time to replace my rear tires (295/30/R18) on my 2004 996 TT. The tire tech says that I have 50% tread left on my front tires and the all 4 tires should be replaced on an AWD car when there is a significant difference in tread depth between the front and rear tires. I've done a search and did not come across this topic/issue. Is it necessary for me to replace my front tires also?
  7. I was able to try out my new (to me) 997 shifter this morning. The 997 shifter shows significant smoothness when thrown into each gear. This was a great upgrade for me. It makes driving much more enjoyable. :D When I first got my Porsche, I thought I'd get used to the notchiness of the 996 shifter, but I never got completely comfortable with it. I've only had my Porsche since Feb 09, but I've driven stick shift cars for over 20 years and consider myself fairly competent. I've read much praise of the 997 shifter over the 996 shifter from many Porsche owners on various forums, including this one. When I spotted a used 997 shifter on E-bay, at a reasonable price, I didn't hesitate to buy it. If anyone is considering the upgrade, just go for it, you will not regret it.
  8. I wanted to thank all those on this forum for all the valuable information. I completed the install of a 997 shifter into my 996 Turbo MY04 :D . I have not driven it after the install, but the stroke of the shifter seems and feels like an improvement. I will try out the my new shifter tomorrow. Thanks again, Art (aquinto)
  9. I used Klasse AIO on a 3M clear bra on my 2004 G35c for about 5 years. I did not notice any problems when applying it not afterwards. HTH.
  10. Hello, I have a grey interior and my leather seats look a bit beat. I was wondering if anyone has put black sport seats in a grey interior? And if this seems to be an odd combination. Pictures of this combination would be helpful. Thanks, Art
