  1. I have a 2009 Targa 4 with pdk without the sport chrono- my car was on the lot as well. The regular automatic mode is for nice leisurely driving with better gas mileage ( the car shifts to 7 gear very early). If you want to be sporty you must keep it in manual mode. If I was ordering a car with pdk, I would order it with the sport chrono- keeps the engine at 4000 rpm which you could only do with the manual mode.
  2. I just picked up my 09 targa4 with PDK. I test drove manuals and the PDK, but I felt, I would use the car more because of the traffic in my area. After sitting in traffic for an hour, you really appreciate the auto mode vs. the stick in my previous 03 Carrera4. If you don't sit in traffic, the 997 manual is so much better than the 996 manual. You can't go wrong with the stick and the 4000 could be used for other options. The PDK is special and the manual shifting with the buttons becomes intuitive. You cannot shift manually as fast or a smoothly , but the manual is still great. Easy bluetooth, nav, ventilated seats, heated steering wheel, Lexus technology finally comes to Porsche, and you still get a great driving car.
  3. I just picked up my 09 targa 4. The real "deal" was minimally advertised, but was very low interest on porsche leases. I only found out about it when I went in to buy a bulb for my 03 carrera 4. Unfortunately, the deal was from jan- jun 1. I came under the wire, but I can't believe the dealers didn't contact customers to make them aware of it. Mercedes touts its specials all the time. As far as price goes, 08's are more discounted than 09's, if you were getting a stick it wouldn't matter, but obviously no PDK, or bluetooth (a Parrot in a 100000 dollar car is kind of chintzy- my son has one in his impreza).
