  1. Hi Viby, is the DSP now running ? And what's about the wiring to PCM ? Can you please send some pictures ? Frank
  2. Hi Marc, some time ago I have the same idea and posted this question directly to Porsche company - but I found no cheap DSP unit last month. So my information is, that DSP amplifier ist plug and play ready if you have PCM and additional sound-system with external amplifier in front. After plug in the pcm will show you additional menues like eaqualizer... But it seems that you have to modify the connector, because the normal amplifier uses another one. Frank
  3. Hi P.Viby, I think the the German NAV-Sofftware is a little bit better than yours in Denmark, but the service for navigation is the same - very bad. Last year I need a lot of calls, the last ones to the factory itself to get detailed information about PCM-1. Nobody from all dealers in my region (an there are a lot of them) knows something about the system and how to get newest CDs. Also registering on NAVTEC has no effect, because Porsche delivers since 2003 exclusivly on its own stores. The actual CD I found in EBAY, because really nobody needs the hole Europe package. So most buyers offers the CDs not needed on EBAY to reduce their costs. Because of a price round about 500 Euro you will get a brand new standard GPS System with DVD player and radio including newest software in most supermarkets. But for two points I get no closer information from Porsche itself. Because they don't like my ideas. Maybe somebody knows about it: 1. How to connect an external audio-video source to PCM-1, for example a DVD player or something like this. (On Siemens WEB site I found an overview, that connectors should be implemented. But it was only an abstract description) 2. How to get an developper SDK for PCM-1 programming. In my opinion the user interface needs some more additional functions, like programming CD title order for example. Frank
  4. Hi Donie, here is the actual information from Porsche: 1. PCM-1 is available in 2 versions (a. xx.98 - 04.2001 ; b. 04.2001 - 08.2002) 2. Version a. uses 8 BIT hardware and version uses 16 BIT hardware and extended memory. This means to CDs for version b. need more memory. 3. In Europe latest software for version a. is NAVTEC 2000/2 and latest software for version b. is PORSCHE Tequipment 2003/2004 (only available from certified Porsche dealer in full Europe-Version - 5 CDs, 500 Euro -, not from NAVTEC) 4. To check your navigation-unit, take it out (its the one with the CD slot) and check WAP number. For 16 BIT it should be: 996.642.122.03 (996.642.122.00 to 996.642.122.02 is 8 BIT) At the moment I use the German Tequipment 2003/2004 CD and its very good, much better then 2000/2 version. But be carefull with copies. The CDs have an copy-protection included. Normaly the copy only run after processing first time the original. The read error you described is always shown after using a copy without initialising the navigation system with original CD. Frank
  5. 3. Relais and micro switch After checking the relais I decided to insert a switch between cable and jumper 1 on the relais. This is working great. So I'am able to switch between facturing mode and disabled speedometer signal mode. This is importend for Germany, because we have a 2 year offical car check, called TÜV. If TÜV find non signed modified work on the car they will not allow you to drive any longer with this car. Frank
  6. 2. Relais In my car 996 model 2001 I found following relais:
  7. Hi folks, after cutting the speedometer signal at Saturday I'am happy with the PSE. Before it was real horrible. @Steve: The price was round about 2600 Euro. Please check your EMail. But while working on the car, I found another type of relais, like described by Loren. For more information I will post same pics about it. 1. Relais-carrier the relais-carrier could be placed in every free space on the board. So it depends on the dealer in which position it is placed:
  8. ...the body looks like RUF. Maybe they also produce the weels. Frank
  9. Hi smaggard, in Germany you can buy the 997 regular. The presentation was on july, 16. I went to Zuffenhausen (Porsches home & factory) to spend some time on the event. For more details I will post you some photos. Frank
  10. ...thanks, I'll try to cut off the speedometer signal next days and send you a feedback of my work. Frank
  11. Hi Loren, yesterday my dealer installed the PSE on my car - and I recognized the problems listed in this task. In Germany the PSE is turned off between 50 and 70 km/h. The feeling while auto turn off was not very fine. With your description it seems very easy to disable the speedometer signal. But before I start to modify the car, please let me know if the doing is the same for all models. My car, 996 C2, was build 10.2002 but it is model 2001 with 3,4l and 300 HP. Can I disable the speedometer signal for my car in the way of your description ? Thanks Frank
