  1. I've done a lot of research and went with Tooki. Very well designed solution. And it's firmware is upgradeable via bluetooth as well. Just to set expectations, the 911 is a very LOUD car. Bluetooth cell phone use is very poor when the car is at speed. If your in stop and go traffic, then the bluetooth systems work just OK, but you can forget any good conversations when traveling at 50 MPH or faster. Just my two cents.
  2. OK, for people that need a fix to this issue, here is what I found. While having the clutch issue described above, my engine oil was very low. One bar showing on my dash. I ignored it because my oil pressure was always at 5 when I drove. Anyway, I put a full quart of oil in, and now I cannot get my clutch to make this sound anymore. This may be a coincidence, but my problem is now gone. :renntech:
  3. The sound is coming from the front. Maybe near the pedal area? Nothing is heard from the back of car, but that's hard to judge. Real feedback through the pedal when pressing down, causing the audible 'pop' sound. This is not a spring or anything with the pedal itself. When the car is off, the pedal presses down fine with no 'popping' sound or feedback issues. Hope this helps.
  4. About to visit a local socal dealer, but thought I'd first check with Renntech. Whenever I press down on my clutch, I get a loud popping sound. Not a click, but a pop that also can be felt through the pedal. This is a new issue I've never had before. The car shifts and runs smoothly as usual. Only a new pop-feedback when pressing-down on the clutch pedal. Could it be: 1. Clutch assembly going out? I only commute with this car. 2. Hydrollic Assist going out? 3. Does my transmission need oil? What do you guys think? When I get this fixed, I'll post the fix. I'm sure other 2006 997S owners will experience this issue at some point. My car is at 55K miles. Thanks for the feedback.
  5. I was able to purchase an extended powertrain warranty for 6 years or 60,000 miles for $2,800. So, I'm now covered all the way to 100,000 miles. I'm in California.
  6. Does anyone know if Porsche North America offers a factory extended warranty for the 997? A local Porsche dealer tells me Porsche itself does not have extended warranties programs, so they sell third-parties. Like Fidelity Warranty Services. (FYI, 4-Year 48,000 miles extended Powertrain only warranty for $3,200?) Just checking...
  7. This is normal Porsche. I've had a 996 and now a new 997 and both cars have this issue. It happens more when the car is cold, but will improve as things get up to temp. I simply go into first as the car rolls to a stop. I wouldn't worry about it. Enjoy.
  8. Was you car just serviced by a Porsche Dealer? If so, they may have performed a factory required update that may be your reason for hearing the right front fan. My Porsche Dealer performed this factory maintenance the last time I brought my car in for a normal oil change. Now, the front right fan comes on almost all the time. And it's loud! I never heard this fan come on before, until I had this update done on my car. Others may know what I'm trying to explain. It has something to do with the software that controls the engine and cooling fans? Just FYI. :renntech:
  9. Due to engine bay noise, I just had my 2006 C2S water pump replaced. In addition, my car had some software updates required by the factory. Now my front radiator/coolant fans seem to turn-on all the time. Before this service, I rarely noticed them coming on. Is this normal? Did the dealer mix the pure coolant with too much water? Did Porsche change the process for this with one of the new software updates? FYI, my temperatures are all normal. No changes. Let me know what you think?
  10. Thanks for the information about the "cap". I'll make sure to review this step if I go with the PSE. DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY SOUND CLIPS YOU CAN POST USING THE EXHAUST MOD SHOWN ABOVE? I'm curious about the sound versus the PSE. Thanks.
  11. If I install a new PSE on a 2006 C2S WITHOUT any of the electrical or on/off switches, is the exhaust sound loud or normal by default? I want the loud PSE sound all the time. Can I simply install the PSE and forget about all the wiring and the on/off switch? Or, do I need to install some wiring in order to activate the louder sound? In my opinion, the PSE sounds amazing compared to other aftermarket systems. But I don't want the complex full install process. Sorry to raise this question again, but I could not find the answer by searching on this topic. :renntech:
  12. Does anyone know how to reset the oil service reminder on a 997 C2S? I saw a process for the Cayanne, but it did not work for my 2006 997 C2S. Please help!
  13. Does anyone know how to remove or open the dashboard lap timer on a 997S? I have a terrible rattle that I want to check out inside the timer itself. Thanks.
  14. I forgot how to verify the PCM software versions within my 2006 997 C2S? Which keys do I hold down as I power-up the PCM? Anyone know? Thanks.
  15. What do you guys think is a better buy today. A loaded new 997C2S, or a slightly used 2002-2003 996 Turbo? Both cars are amazing. I hear the 996 Turbo engine is extremely reliable. Maybe better than a 2007 997? As for a looks, I like both. However, I do love the design of the 996 Turbo. I like the 997 interior design much better. And the 997 seems like a better daily driver. I'm stuck. Help!
  16. Just bought a 2005 C4S and the dealer did not install the plastic Velcro circles into the front floorboards so the front floormats stay secured. I cannot find any holes to screw them in myself. Does the dealer drill these in during the prep? Can I do this myself? :help:
