I also have a dension 500 that I got from Eric... easiest nstallation ever. control your iPod thru the PCM, now I have music for days. a dedicated iPod nano on the frunk, stats charged and doesn't drain the battery. best purchase ever!
Hi Mark, see my post above yours. To take the AC apart, you first remove it from the car, place it on a table and remove 4 torx screws to separate the front panel of the unit from the back. After that, you just remove 4 more screws for the circuit board. Then you have the front face with all the buttons. Press some tiny tabs from the inside and full from the front. That's the way to remove the 2 main switches from the unit to get them painted...
I didn't.... I got the constant power from the wire connector to the cd changer preparation tat you have on the left of the carbon canister. is a little plug that is hanging loose. you just tap to that and you are done...
yes, that's the carbon canister.... try not to mess with it since the unit needs to be airtight for venting fuel gases... so, unless you drill a hole to this box, I think you are going to be ok... I had a similar install than yours... no cd changer and put the dension and iPod on the trunk. everything works great!
Is the black box next to where the CD changer used to be? That looks like a Black Pelican Case? if so, it's the carbon canister. That box is connected from the bottom to the gas tank's lines.
UPDATE: Well, it seems the problem was that simple. I removed the wheel and wheel liner and once I touch the fan, it was stuck somehow. moved it a little and it came loose. Now it works perfectly. good to check before ordering parts! thanks all!
It's pretty easy to take the unit apart if you are careful and pay attention. 4 external screws and 4 internal screws. since you are only taking the two rotating switches, it should be pretty easy.
That was my impression after checking the parts catalog... so the control unit was on the back of the fan in the passenger side, is that correct? thanks in advance! joel
Loren, is the fan control unit on the driver's side or passenger side of the front luggage area? I never know what right or left means when talking about cars! :)
