    Hello, I've checked the search area and can't find a quick answer. Can someone tell me what the size of the OEM Sway bar is for a 1999 996 C2 is. I'm told that they can be 18.7; 19.8; or 20.9 mm. My Sway bar is stock and should be the basic size that came with the car new. Thanks, in advance, for any help. Patrick NOTE: In case anyone would like to know. I have found out that the "basic" size of the REAR bushings are 18.5mm. Porsche OEM number is 996 333 792 24 (will need two of them). Also, the correct number for the Drop Links (same number for both) is 996 333 069 04. Patrick

    Loren, thanks for your input...................But for me this unit will look better than a hole (cubby). I really don't care if it works I just think it will look better. Thus.......maybe someone has this 'cable' that will make it work; as I still plan on putting it in my Porsche. Thanks also for the wire diagram photo. as always, you are the man :-) ANYBODY OUT THERE WITH A CABLE???? Patrick

    Hello, I have looked through the 'search' areas and can not find an answer, so I thought I'd try asking you guys. I have a 1999 C2 Coupe with OEM CDR-220 Radio - OEM AMP (located under the hood in front of the Battery area) - OEM 6 Disc CD Player. I came across a OEM DSP Equalizer and want to install it in place of the 'Cubby' hole, just above the heated seat switch plate. My questions are.......... 1. Is there a cable that connects the DSP to the Stereo that I can buy.....or part number? 2. Does the cable go from the DSP to the Radio or does it go to the AMP? 3. Does anyone out there have this cable they would like to sell me? 4. If there is no cable, can someone tell me which 'pin' (inside the female connection) is for making the face plate lights come on? I have enclosed a picture of the front and rear of the DSP in hope of helping you understand what I'm trying to ask. Thanks for any help in this matter, Respectfully, Patrick Ford

    Loren, I'm talking about the 'sides' of the seat not the on the floor board. When you open the car door you will see this cover that covers the 'hinge' bolt that allows the back part of the seat to fold forward. The one on the drivers side is on very tight but the one on the passenger side can be pulled out some but still attached at the bottom. Thanks for the tip on the key being removed, C'ya,

    Okay, but if "it just sides on"....how come I can't just take it off?? It's loose (not attaach) at the front of the seat and it is still attached to ward the back. It acts like someone tried to take if off and 'broke' something and then left it "as is". If I need to buy a new cover that' okay I just need to know how to take this cover off.     Greetings, As I was cleaning the carpet in my 99 C2 I noticed that the little plastic cover (the one that covers the bolts that holds the top and bottom seat and allow the top to tilt forward, located on the side of the seats) is either broken or loose. I tried to put it back on and take it off but couldn't do either. After looking at all 24 pages in the 'Search' area I've come up with nothing. Question is.....how does one remove or install this plastic part? Any help would be great. C'ya,

    If the RCA plugs are the white and red plug...I'd say yes (I'll check them again though)....But are you saying that if they aren't then the speakers will not work? How strange is that???? Thanks again, Okay, I went out and un-plugged and then plugged them back in, and still no sound. Maybe next I'll unplug the DC Changer and see if I get sound??? Thanks again for your time..... Loren, All is okay now, turns out that the problem is that the connection of the plugs on the AMP didn't 'connect'. I cleaned with electrical cleaner and that give me sound. Thanks for your time and help. C'ya,

    LOREN.... Okay I just installed the (trunk mounted) CD Changer; Now everything works EXCEPT the speakers. I had to take the battery out so the system was down and when I re-installed the battery I entered the radio code and like I said every works (stations, FM1, FM2, Radio CD and CDC - radio even showed that the CD was playing in slot 1-2 etc.) but no sound. I took the radio back out and checked the plugs, in the back, (I never took any off - just added the two from the harness) and that didn't help. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance,

    Once again....THANKS Loren, So, it does look very straight forward except the big difference being that this 'how-to' is for a Boxster; some of the parts (AMP for one) are in different places but the location of the Changer is the same. I also remember reading someplace that I might have to have the Dealer "turn the radio on" for the CD Changer??? I guess I'll know that if the radio doesn't recognize that the CD is present, after installation. Thanks again for your help, C'ya, Not for a CDC-3 - you just use the change modes button to cycle through FM, single CD, and CDC-3. GREAT......Thanks again for your time.

    Hi again, My 1999 C2 Porsche has the CDR-220 Radio with the single CD player, I found a used CDC-3 Six Disc CD Changer (that goes into the front, beside the AMP) and I have ordered the wiring harness (PN 993 645 453 00). What I can't find is anything showing any 'how-to' on installing it into the car. It looks straight forward but I'd like to know, before hand, of there is something specal I'll need to watch out for or do in this installation. I have looked through the DIY section and all I found was the 'how-to' for the 03 Porsche and I believe they have the CDC-4 Changer and use 'Optic' type cables; my wire harness is just basic type plugs (three plug into the Changer wires and two go into the radio). So, if there is something out there I'd sure like to see it. Thanks for any help, C'ya,

    Most dealers do not both to bleed the ABS unless the system has been open (i.e. lines or components replaced). I have a PST (and PIWIS) and and I usually do not bleed the ABS on my own car. Uh oh, I've got my wheels off now and about to replace my brake lines with braided DOT approved stainless lines (Pelican parts). From your post it sounds like I am going to need to take the car to the stealer for the ABS bleed if I replace the brake lines. True? Jeff.....did you get an answer to your question? I'm going to take the four Calipers off and paint them so I need to know if I will need to take my car to the Dealer? I guess the main question is - What will happen if one takes a part off of the brake system and then bleeds everything except the ABS system??? Thanks, in advance, for any input.Jeff BTW, these Pelican parts are supposed to be for 996 but they are all the same length and from just eyeballing them they look too long for the rear brake lines (and Ive got a MY '00 Cab4... wonder if my rear lines are shorter than a regular C2?). Anybody done this mod before? Comments?

    Yes Sir, that's it. I do have the rear wiper and would like to get to it. So, if I reading this right.....grab hold of the middle and pull and it should just 'pop' off??? Thanks again,

    Loren, Thanks for the picture...but I talking about the panel located just below the rear window. My 99 is a little different than the picture...mine has carpet and is kind of thin. It isn't as thick as the one in the picture looks. Thanks again for your time,

    Thanks, I think you are talking about the same part. But I think the DME is sitting under the larger carpeted liner that is over the top of the engine. The liner I need to take off is 'Vertical' above it and just under the rear window and only about five or six inches tall. I just don't want to 'break' it while I'm taking it off.     Hello, My Carrera is a 1999 Coupe; I'm trying to take this off...it's the linning, with carpet, that goes between the side panels and just just under the rear window. I've looked in the 'Search' and found, in the removal of the head linner area but the instructions about this are very un-clear, to me. It just says "Pull the rear plastic trim out of the roof frame evenly on the left and right and detach". My questions are, do I just grab this carpeted panel at the top or bottom or on the sides and just PULL? Or should I put some type of 'wedge' behind it and kind of 'pop' it off? What are the chances of things like 'clips' breaking, or maybe the panel just snapping in half? Thanks for any help,

    Yeah, I just figured the plus to this one is I could use it on my other non-Porsche vehicles as well. In the long run I'll probably end up buying both. You're right about getting both, if you want to check other cars/trucks. I just got the Durametric, for my Pcar, as I already have the OBDII reader which only reads and clears P codes on every car with an OBDII system; where the Durametric reader reads other things, but just on the Pcar.     Thanks for your reply. Not really sure how important the prolongation of a sound is, but I still have to ask "how important is this little box"? If it is "by-passed" with the red tube thing what would happen if it was by-passed with the OEM tube? Thanks again,

    Hi again, Question about the little box inside the main air filter box. There is a big hose that goes from the air filter box to the Throtle Body and there is a small hose that goes down to the air filter box, off of the big hose, and attaches to the part of the little box that is inside the air filter box. Question is, what does this little box do, as in what is it there for? What would happen if the hole (the top of the part that the hose clamps to) were to be sealed up, as in put duct tape over it? I have seen that the 'red' hose 'MOD' has no small hose going to this box; there is a 'cap' on top of it. So, can this little hose be sealed off while still using the factory big hose? Thanks for any help,

    Hello once again, My Emergency Flasher light bulb does not work any more (might never have worked because I'm never used it before yesterday). The outside lights flash okay, it is the blub inside the Emergency Flasher button that does not work. I've looked in the Search and the only thing that comes up is talking about the OBC 'mod' and how to remove the Hazard Switch Surround. My Question is, how does one get the Hazard Switch out of the dash? I've done the OBC 'mod', so getting the switch surround off is no problem, but I can't get the switch to budge. I'm thinking that I need to get the complete switch out in order to get the light bulb out? Also, can I get the light bulb from Radio Shack or just the Dealer? Thanks for any help,
