  1. Some interesting cars we'll never see. http://shows.autospies.com/gallery/Porsche-Museum-103/
  2. IMHO...I can't get past how ugly those hardtops look on the cab. I prefer the look of the coupe to the cab, but I wish someone could design a hardtop that looks better than this.
  3. I have a grey cabriolet roof and would like to change it to black without a full replacement. It shows every mark and fold, even though it's been properly cleaned with cab roof cleaner and has porsche protectant applied (waterproofs very well). Has anyone tried or know how it can be changed to black without color bleed problems or looking sub standard? Thanks
  4. I have an 06 Carera S Cab. Have seen some cheap 'performance chips' advertised from a number of sites. If you were to believe their claims, they would have to be the cheapest performance upgrade available. Has anyone had any experience with performance chips for non turbo 997s... or with this company? Surge Performance Chip http://www.streetbeatcustoms.com/Surge-Eng...nce-Chip/17558/ Thanks in advance.
  5. I purchased my immaculate 06 S Cab at close to half the MSRP with 6k miles on the clock. I'm happy to buy myself breakfast & a few pen holders. lol Seriously... I was about to fork over $120k on an arriving soon S Cab but when it arrived at the dealer, "it wasn't the color we were expecting, but I like white the best. Let's get the paperwork sorted out while you're here". I shook his hand anyway with a "Thanks anyway" before I left. Saved around $50k on what I would have paid for a higher spec 06 car, so I'm very happy.
  6. Why do I get the feeling it would be cheaper to buy a 2009 and get all the goodies than try to upgrade. Look forward to watching your experience.
  7. Loren, I'm surprised no-one has bothered to share the links to these info/articles here - isn't that one of the benefits to having a forum like this? The forums I subscribe to for my motorcycles are very active & informative. Any links or info/experience, installations etc are added & usually with photos. This forum seems very quiet in comparison. Perhaps it's a different (more conservative ?) crowd.

  9. Porsche beats Lexus in initial quality, Ford shines for 2nd year straight Posted: June 4th, 200 http://www.egmcartech.com/2008/06/04/porsc...-year-straight/ J.D. Power and Associates released its 2008 Initial Quality Study results today which showed that overall vehicle quality improved to 118 problems per 100 vehicles in 2008, down from 125 in 2007. FoMoCo was a shining star for the second consecutive year with Mercury being the highest-rated domestic brand, beating Honda coming in behind Mercedes-Benz and Toyota. Porsche held on to its number 1 spot followed by Infiniti and Lexus (who is supposed to be known as the quality king). Toyota tied with Mercedes-Benz at number 4. The Porsche 911 has the fewest quality problems in the industry, with just 67 problems per 100 vehicles. Also receiving segment awards are the Ford E-Series, Lincoln Navigator, Mazda MX-5 Miata, Pontiac Grand Prix Sedan and Toyota Sequoia. For a third consecutive year, Porsche tops the overall nameplate rankings, averaging 87 PP100. Following in the rankings are Infiniti (which improves from 9th rank position in 2007), Lexus, Mercedes-Benz and Toyota, respectively. Audi posts the largest improvement in ranking, moving from 26th place in 2007 to 10th in 2008. The Initial Quality Study serves as the industry benchmark for new-vehicle quality measured at 90 days of ownership. The study is used extensively by vehicle manufacturers worldwide to help them design and build better vehicles and by consumers to help them in their vehicle purchase decisions. Initial quality has been shown over the years to be an excellent predictor of long-term durability, which can significantly impact consumer purchase decisions. The study captures problems experienced by owners in two distinct categories—quality of design and defects and malfunctions.
  10. Is 'simple green' diluted 50:50 with water likely to cause a problem on wheels/calipers?
  11. http://www.worldcarfans.com/9080526.011/re...rga-by-velotech
  12. 50 psi would help keep that big fat contact patch flat across the wide tires, but won't give you optimum grip if it can't mold to any noticeable road imperfections/lumps & bumps. Remember that tires also perform a roles as suspension. So you could possibly run 50 psi on a hot day at a smooth race track, but you'd end up with less overall grip if on normal roads - not to mention the general lack of comfort. My 2c worth anyway.
  13. Looking for an alternative to the Smart Top Remote so I can remotely open/close the cab roof on a 997. (The 997 Smart Top version is twice the cost of the 996). I only want to open/close the roof from the remote key or with one flick of the in car switch. Anyone know of a cheap reliable alternative? Thanks
  14. I have the factory sports seats fitted in the Carrera S Cab (hard back with electric adjust for lumbar & both bolsters). They are firm and have plenty of bolster to hook into your thighs & back. I just did a 600 mile drive, only stopping for fuel & water. Got out feeling surprisingly fresh & no aching back (as I would in the Lexus RX400H). They're a good road compromise that look good and offer sufficient support & comfort short of full on racing. I'm 6' tall & weigh 200lb.
  15. Try ebay: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/UNCUT-KEY-B...0049582157& http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/PORSCHE-996...0237010821&
