  1. Nice looking unit - Congrats! The black rims look good with the white. Happy motoring!
  2. Yes, if using an oiled filter the MAS may be adversely affected. The performance gain can be measured on a dyno I'm sure but under normal usage gains are difficult to feel or measure. Cheers.
  3. Hi Scott, I have a 987S and went through similar type questions. I looked at 911s, Z4s, and Elises, coupes and droptops. The most important thing for me was to get a DME download and a PPI from a dealer that didn't sell the car to me - to get an independent verification. Also I used Edmonds and other web sources to determine comparable pricing for each vehicle I looked at, based on specified options, mileage, and conditions. I then used this information to calculate apples to apples price comparisions which I found were to very accurate once the variables had been addressed. With this information I could then compare "relative values" between the cars that were available to me. Somewhat time consuming, but very accurate - kind of a price calculator I had to devise for myself. When I found my car I knew then right away if it was a good deal or not. It was and I put an offer down within an hour subject to my conditions. My method worked flawlessly and I was given the peace of mind that the car was a good specimen. It is and I can't tell you how much fun the car is to drive. The PCW will also give you some level of comfort - but you know or course that the dealer has priced that in. Good luck, drive safely, and have fun. Cheers.
  4. Funny video. I like that these guys don't take life too seriously and enjoy what they're doing. They are good evaluators and give their own opinions not the same old same old. I have a 987S, and the Z4 M in one of their evaluations, is the car that that tester would take home - the Z4 M. Me no, the 987S all the way. I drove the Z4 and the car and the sounds are very, very powerful even in the non M version, however the look of the car is just too unbalanced and disproportionate to me. The Elise is also a very, very fun car to drive but needs a generation or two of upgrades IMO before I'll give my wife the 987S. The 08 Elise SC will be very fast no doubt, but the tranny will be the same and still be very sloppy and feel as though the bolts will come undone - the handling and sounds it makes though are peerless. The 987S is a very sorted car and many 911 owners are now giving it the respect that it deserves - it is a very good car that can be tossed around easily. Yes the 987S is "a precision instrument" and is "just up there" - I didn't want a hot chili pepper. We are very lucky to have such fun cars. The 987S is a very good car, one of the best droptops IMO. Cheers.
  5. Thank you very much for your excellent replies, your comments make perfect sense. The video shows how quickly things can go wrong and cars being pushed on a track (or on the road) allow only so much latitude to effect corrections (PSM can only do so much). The video actually told me how much respect you have to have when pushing your car and always be careful. Driving carefully was a common phrase from dealers and experts and now I can see why. Your comments did not scare me away, but they did wake me up to the reality that you really do have to be careful at all times as these machines do have a fair amount of power and can get you moving at a good clip before you know it. Drive careful, yes this is good advice - we're all lucky to be driving such enjoyable cars. Anyways, thanks. :)
  6. Should be a little extra push to the left then up. It should go in easy and without any strange sounds, otherwise take it to your dealer.
  7. The dealer I bought from has various DE events and the question I have is that with new 19" tires and pushing the car to the limit, is this a bad and expensive idea. I've heard of some problems with major tire and brake wear and in some cases engine overheating. I don't want to abuse my car because I'm driving it close to its limits. The DME readouts currently reflect no stage 5/6 overrevs and only one stage 3 and 4 overrev which the dealer says is basically no overrevs as stage 1/2 overrevs are really not much of a concern if I understood the dealer correctly. Are there others who have pushed their cars and have regretted it?
