I just bought a pair of halogen headlights from UK as well... now, i know the differences between the LH and RH lights. But then, in North America, i thought all we care is the beams are wide, far and bright..:lightbulb:

I am in Toronto Canada and due to the cold weather here, my 02 Boxster is in dormancy during November to April, that left her in commission six months per year. This is also my leisure vehicle and i rack up approximately 5000 to 6000 km per year. My dilemma is, should i change the engine oil on a yearly basis anyway or i can do it once every two years ? Also, my last brake fluid flush was three years ago, and the owner's manual recommends to replace it every two years, i checked the brake fluid reservoir and the brake fluid looks very clear still, should i replace it ? Thanks for advices in advance.

I am in Toronto and planning to do an oil change, annual inspection and brake fluid flush for my 02 Boxster when the season starts. I am wondering does anyone has any past experiences with respect to the following shops, goods and bads and certainly welcome for other recommendations. Thank you! Does anyone has any idea how much engine oil will be lost during IMS and/or RMS replacement ?

Confirmed leaking from both IMS AND RMS and the following are the highlights of our conversation exchange: ME: which revision of the RMS seal was installed and are they using a special tool during this process, ADVISOR: one came from Porsche and didn't reply the special tool question ME: My warranty is up soon what if it is leaking again. ADVISOR: when warranty is up, it is up. ME: What if today is the last day of my warranty and after this fix, it leaks again tomorrow ADVISOR: that is a grey area and that doesn't happen often ME: that exactly happened to me two years ago when i first repaired this through Downtown Porsche and it leaks few days later and they told me it was residual from the last repair afterward. That is why I gave up on this dealership and came to you folks. ADVISOR: SILENCE ADVISOR: you only drove 3000 km last year, you should drive the car more ME: i actually spotted a drop or two oil on my garage floor before i stored my can in December, this is my weekend car and i drive it almost every weekend until i stored it. ADVISOR: you should drive more ME: Are you telling me the new cars that you have in your showroom and lot are leaking as well ADVISOR: our cars sold really fast and usually in three months and they don't sit there for a long time ME: I was about to trade in my car for a 2008 Boxster last year, your 2008 models were still listed for sale on your websites in the new inventory section at the end of 2009. ADVISOR: SILENCE ME: please understand my frustration on this situation, including the original one came with the car, this is going to be the "FIFTH" one and two were done in two years in average once per year, it is now becoming a yearly maintenance item, can you imagine you are the one in the situation ADVISOR: SILENCE Frankly, I believe the original problem came from Porsche's engineering design on both the engine block and the seal"s", that is why they came up with the measurement process and revised seal few times as the remedies. However, I believe Porsche is now being painted as a scapegoat by these guys now. why? Porsche is offering two years warranty when you fixed it at the authorized Porsche dealer, it becomes a lucrative business to these guys in claiming warranty jobs since it won't cost the customer during the two years period and most of us believe or being educated as it is a Porsche design flaw. It would be in there definite advantage to have the car leak again and return to the shop and feed them. I am so frustrated and disappointed by the comment "YOU NEED TO DRIVE IT MORE", just like the Porsche's dealers here in Toronto keep promoting "Porsche is absolutely drivable in winter and drive it". Apparently, if we are storing it instead of driving it, they have no business or less business on service and that is why the ADVISOR kept asking me to drive the car more and of course, the more i drive my car, the more frequent i have to visit them for servicing and/or repairing. I really wonder does Porsche head office has any compliance policies, internal investigation systems or customer excellence program to monitor, govern, control and reprimand it's dealer's with respect to professional conducts, ethics and professional negligence. or simply they don't care and keep paying any warranties claims whenever its dealer submit it and allow them destroying its' brand, image and customer confidence/satisfaction. I don't have any high hope and expectations from Porsche any more but simply "please don't leak, i am begging you" :( Disclaimers: Please pardon me for my subjective opinions, it is not my intention to insult all service dealers and I am sure the majority of the members in this community are up to and above the quality standards.

BTW, when you mentioned "Place in any case the seal without the tool, they will leak for sure after time", I will be very surprised that an authorized Porsche dealer is not using one when they are installing it?? I also read that RMS issue indeed is haunting Boxster and Cayman up to 2007's models as well, it seems like it really is a design flaw to begin with.

I don't drive this car often (weekend car) and I do store it for 3 to 4 months during iwnter time, do you think if i started the engine say once every 2 weeks will help the "dryed seal" ?

It is leaking again ..... after four RMS and IMS (including the original ones installed in the car when new, one replaced by the previous owner under warranty and two in the last two years under my ownership), i am going in this Friday for diagnostic for the same problem again. Frankly, i don't think it will go away, my 2 years warranty on this fix will be up soon, this problem didn't go away and I don't think it will. What if it leaks again after this up coming fix and the warranty is out ? I truly think this is a scam now.

Folks, I recently bought a red clip for my 02 Boxster that I learned that will activate the infrared red sensor during the top is open. I did a test by sitting inside the driver seat while the alarm is armed with the red clip is in place, half of the time, the alarm won't go off regardless how i move around. Does anyone know why ? Is their a procedure that i have missed ? Steven

Never know that a Red Clip is available for that purpose. Just ordered 2 of them from Pfaff Porsche in Toronto an it is like $3 each. :renntech:

Heck no! We wanna know about the excellent bodywork :D Here are a few pics of the stainless steel door sills for folks with the OEM upgrade. The mats are Porsche OEM. zoom in, its a bit dirty but you will see the Porsche logo :D I meant the mats in the first pic in the thread. They're black, don't fit at all, and there is no visible logo. Yes, this is referring to the first pic in the thread and they are black, perfect fit and purchased from Downtown Porsche in Toronto, price was $125 per set, the logo is visible but just not in that pic. Again, it was dirty and was shifted when i took the pic. sigh

RMS....... My 3rd replacement seems to be working now. Make sure you fix it with a competent Porsche dealership and make sure the 2 yrs warranty is in place. Some Porsche dealership may take advantage with the 2 yrs warranty and get you to revisit them in a later day to scam warranty work and claim it to Porsche by not fixing it correctly intentionally. http://www.renntech.org/forums/index.php?s...0&hl=ssflai

Its been two weeks now. No drip so far and I hope this is the end of it. I highly suspect that Downtown Porsche in Toronto is either incapable or incompetence of not fixing the problem on purpose for that the owner will return to them in a later day by either fixing it at the owner's expense or claim it under warranty. One thing i don't quite understand is, I paid Downtown Porsche for the last repair and I got the most recent repair through Pfaff Porsche under warranty, does Pfaff Porsche claims this job to Porsche Head office directly or to Downtown Porsche. If it went straight to Porsche head office, will Porsche head office go back to Downtown Porsche and challenge them with the situation ?

Dinged is not the right term, rob is more appropriate. I got charged by UPS approximately $90 for custom clearance charge. Besides the door sills, I have the Gauge Rings shipped at the same time. With all the costs, it is still cheaper than the local dealers in Toronto. Specially that AIG Porsche "Downtown Porsche" Arrogant, Incompetence and Greed Porsche. I will try all my best to stay away from them. I rate Pfaff Porsche is a better alternative.

I currently have 993.361.303.09 printed at the back of my center wheel cap. Is 993.361.303.05 the same ? How about 996.361.303.13 or .10 ? what are the differences and are will they fit ? Thanks
