  1. Yep, at Porsche North Scottsdale it cost me about $25 bucks total.
  2. Mudman, I am unable to create a gap large enough to get even the smallest of screwdrivers anywhere near the latch. I removed all screws from around the glove box. I also removed the fuse box cover on the side of the dash in an attempt to access the latch from the side. I have also tried to access it from behind by the footwell. From what I can tell, the latch is actually inside the glove box and there doesn't appear to be any access to the inside of the glove box from the outside. In fact, this glove box seems to be so secure that when I do get this thing fixed, I'm going to move all my valuables from the safe inside my home to the glove box in my Cayenne. Update: Here's the deal... when you remove the trim piece from above the glove box, it not only exposes three screws, it exposes several little holes. If you insert a screwdriver at about a 45 degree angle in the largest hole which is directly over the latch, you can manipulate the top of the latch manually and the glove box opens. (don't share this with any bad guys) This gives access to two more screws that allow complete removal of the glove box. After disassembling the push button / lock piece, I discovered that a large section of the plastic mechanism had broken into bits so that pushing the button no longer pulls the cable that releases the latch. It now looks as though I'll have to replace the entire assembly. But, at least I now know the secret to getting the #$@%!! glove box open.

  4. I think this is a new one... I have an 04 CTT. Today I attempted to open my glove box. When I pressed the button, it sounded like something popped. Now when I press the button, the glove box does not open. I read a post describing how to remove the glove box but I don't think it applies when the glove box will not open. I removed the trim strips to access the screws underneath. After removing the screws, I still cant access anything that will let me open the glove box. Does anyone know how to get the glove box open when the button is broken so I can attempt to replace the part that's broken? :soapbox:
  5. So Targa 81 is your CEL behaving? I have an 04 CT also and my light just came on. I've checked caps on oil and gas and added fuel but the light stays on. Loren, how can I tell if it's a p2187 code?
  6. OK RFM, you called it. It was exactly the hose you said. I contacted the local Porsche dealership today and negotiated with a service adviser. They agreed to cover a significant portion of the repair costs. I had my CTT towed to the dealer from the independent shop. The Porsche service adviser says they will have it back to me tomorrow afternoon. It really helped my cause to know what I was talking about with them. Thank you for all the detailed information.
  7. It could possibly be. I only saw that there was a TSB regarding a coolant line on another site and assumed it was related but I have no specifics. I've seen your posts addressing other issues as well. Are you a Porsche mechanic or just a really smart owner?? Are there any other eminent problems with my CTT that I should plan for?
  8. Frank, can you tell me how this was resolved and what it ended up costing you? I have a 2004 Turbo which has the same problem. I's in an independent shop here in Phoenix. I'm planning to call the dealer tomorrow morning and see if there is a TSB on this and see if they'll help me out on the repair expense since I'm outside of warranty coverage. Thanks.
  9. Thanks. Here in the US, most independents have the buyer sign a document stating that there is no warranty. (which I did) Since my Cayenne was originally delivered in 2003, I am outside the 4 year factory warranty even though I have low miles. I heard through an independent shop here that Porsche may be providing some sort of assistance with this issue since it seems to be a common problem. I saw that there is a TSB from 2/22/08 (#1961) about a coolant hose issue. One of the members here also posted pictures of a ruptured hose which looks exactly like mine. I'm going to call the local dealer tomorrow morning and ask if they will help me out. If not, my Cayenne is already at the independent shop (Stuttgart Southwest) and they'll get on it. They quoted me $2,000US to replace the hose. They can do the job by dropping just the rear of the engine rather than removing the engine completely. The really sad part of this is that I sold an ML55 to buy the Cayenne Turbo because I was concerned that the Mercedes was spending too much time in the shop. I had the Cayenne less than a week before this hose broke. My wife is not happy with me.
  10. I just joined renntech as a result of researching this problem. I just bought an 04 with 29,000 miles 6 days ago. I now have the exact same problem. I dumped all my coolant last night, had the car towed to an independent shop here in Phoenix, Az. The tech diagnosed it as the same tubes you described and told me this is a known problem. 2nd one they have seen this month. He suggested I call the dealer on Monday and see if they will cover any part of the repairs as the car is out of warranty. Do you have any if the dealers are helping with this?
