  1. Here is the thread Eli started over at Rennlist: http://forums.rennlist.com/rennforums/show...9&highlight=ghl
  2. What I quoted you is exactly what I would have had to pay had it not been for warranty since they print out the invoice for me and then it just says warranty paid...balance zero. That way I have a record. Good luck with yours. Stick to yuor guns and question the charges!
  3. I paid zero (warranty). But my invoice still shows the labor and parts. 6 rings and 1.9 hours of labor (1.3 for replacement of the rings and .6 for cleanup of oil on engine). That job should cost you $300 max by my calculations.
  4. Seems kinda high since my reciept shows 6 rings and 1.9 hours of labor. Unless the 6 rings run about $50 each then the estimate seems really high!
  5. It fits great, but the holes have to be drilled and very simple to do. I have my car in the shop getting some work done and don't want to finsh the install till I get it back (next week). I plan on posting pics, etc, when I get it done.
  6. I would definitely get that checked out. That is alot of oil consumption especially if you are seeing oil on the floor. Oil near the exhaust puddles (key hear is near) could be leaking cam covers, leaking plug boots and possibly stuff I haven't heard of yet. It never hurts to have them check it out ESPECIALLY since it is a CPO.
  7. A qt every 1K? Man that is not good. I haven't had to add a drop ever b/t oil changes. And I drive spirited every chance.
  8. The RoW spring rates are NOT the same as the USA ones. Close but not the same.
  9. The electronics come with it when you purchase new. You just don't need to install it. Heck you can even sell your electronics for a couple bucks on eBay to somebody who wants to do the hookup and bought theirs used--that's what I did. FYI....my dealer wanted $800 for the full install and $100 for the cans alone. I decided to let the dealer do the cans for $100 and have my Saturday to myself. If they wanted $200 then I would have done it myself. Essentially 3 bolts on each side.
  10. Depends on what kind of P-Car you get, how it was cared for, and how you care for it. There is NO WAY to even give you a ballpark. Oil change once a year at minimum is the only given and that will run you $60 DIY or as much as $300 at the stealer. Other than that, it is a crapshoot.
  11. Did you post this to show the parallel to the P-Car community and RMS leaks? Maybe people aren't breaking in their cars properly? Not sure what this is supposed to convey being that it is a Evo. But, I think that Porsche has already deemed that the RMS problem is not one owner fault but rather one of a manufacturing flaw.
  12. Turbo....then you need to clarify that. You stated in you post that you looked at the entire kit for $450 and now say you are just gonig to do the lights? Something's not making sense. Besides, how this info be useful for others as you state? Those that CAN do it buy their stuff in bulk and don't buy a kit at a time. Those that do will end up trying to save a couple hundred bucks but then have to pay a pro not only for the new one but for the removal of the mistake they made.
  13. Maybe you could post a pic of what you have (dash location and plug insert) to better explain this.
  14. There is no trim piece to remove. Just pull out the old lighter and put in the plug. Simple as that.
  15. "If it is your preference to buy only N-rated tires that is your choice." Not my preference, my option. Sure I would like to branch out but there isn't much out there that has a significant price delta that would sway me. Now if you want to buy tires based on price (like the Kumho) then you are just being cheap, which is ironic since they wear faster. But I will tell you that you will end up spending more on the longhaul. As for this discussion, then we will agree to disagree.
  16. Have you ever done a clearbra? Spend the extra couple $100 and have it done right! Trust me this is not something for amatuers to try. It will come out like crap and then you will be out about $500.
  17. Actually other marque's do in fact do the same thing. BMW has OEM approved tires. As for your R-Compound wisecrack there is no R compound street tire. The N-rating is for street tires. Racing is not covered under your warranty so you are free to do on the track just know that YOU are resoponsible for and damage caused. Listen, I don't care what you think about N-spec rating. It is like exhaust, oil, suspension, exclusive options, etc.......everybody has their OWN taste. Some choose to buy OEM parts and approved parts. Some could give a **** as to possible ill effect of them and then cry to Porsche when they damage their car. To each his own.
  18. The price is the same for N rated as it is for non-N rated tires of the same marque and size (give or take a couple bucks). They don't just pick a tire to be N-rated, they have to be tested and approved as tires Porsche would put there as what they deem to be a tire that meets specific requirements of internal construction, tread compound, tread design, etc, to meet the specific performance requirements of these cars. It's not a marketing ploy to make $$$.
  19. I just removed the lighter from it's spot and then inserted the non-smoking plug. You do not need to remove any of the electronics or take the dash out for that. It's just a plug that fills the void left by the lighter being gone. If you remove the assembly that the lighter rests in then the plug will not fit.
  20. If you purchase a product like the Motive Bleeder then it comes with it. If not, then as Loren said, make a trip to the local hardware store.
  21. Already had the PP on. Good tip though! Especially if you do any suspension mods.
