  1. So then it doesn't look like that piece (the orange highlighted piece) will be able to be removed and replaced seperately??? Do you have any idea what is included with 996 555 122 05 ETD ??? Looks like I have a Sunday project on my hands to get the part number of the back of that orange highlighted piece. ARRGHHH!
  2. So 996 555 592 00 C51 is #27 in this schematic or green highlight in my highlighted picture? I don't even see a number associated for my orange highlighted part on the schematic above. Is there one? Looks like I am going to have to try an remove that panel tomorrow and just get the part number off the back of it. Darn, I didn't want to have to try that. Do you have any idea what ETD means in the part number you gave me. A 1,000 Thanks Again Loren!!!! -Dell
  3. That's what I feared. So the part number I gave you is the door pull? ANd the new ones you gave me are for the larger panel pice? Can't wait to see the cost of that! Do you have any type of diagram that points out the pieces? The piece I need is highlighted in the picture orange. Is the part number I gave you for the green?
  4. C51 for graphite grey should be correct. 996 555 592 00 C51 So.......then that part number I listed above is what I need to fix (replace) that part of the door panel that got ruined? Thanks for the pdf! Cheers, Dell
  5. Attached is a picture of the great work the window tint shop did! Basically too much solution that they use to put on the tint got under the leather on the door panel. Now I need to get that piece replaced since it deformed the leather. The part I need: It looks like one piece that runs the length of the top of the door drops 1/2 way down the front of the door in front of the door pocket then comnes back the length of the door under the door pocket/airbag area. I assume it is just one piece that snaps onto the door covered in leather? I guess if I knew how to remove it I could get the part number off of it? Just need the part number (and a diagram if possible) so I order the correct piece. 2000 996 CAB 6-speed Many thanks!!! -Dell ps. what is 996 555 592 00 ?
  6. Fix it yourself? Are you kidding? You just said you have no clue what this means yet you want to fix it. Not a good idea. Guessing what is wrong then trying to fix that guess could end up with more problems that you care for. Take it to a reputable shop that SPECIALIZES in your car (namely Porsche) so the experts can tell you what is wrong and give you an estimate. You are not obligated to do the work if it sounds to pricey. Then get a second opinion. These are finely tuned machines that are not intended for guess repairs to be performed. If cost is an issue for maintaing the car, then you might want to re-think you financial priorities being in college.
  7. Oh for the love of God, learn to use the space bar and return key! Your sentences are very hard to read. If you want help from people on this board please make it easier for us :) Anyway, back to the problem. The quick and easy test that Graeme suggested will help you in the sort term. Try that and then get back to us.
  8. Welcome to the board. Details about your car??? Pics?
  9. Exoticar (on S. Highland) is the ONLY place I would deal with in Vegas. They specialize in P-Cars, Ferrari's, Aston's, MB, etc. I have used them several times. The dealer will tell you the same thing. When you register for PCA on the national page you specify the local chapter (based on where you live...Las Vegas) and then you are automatically enrolled in local chapter. The new member breakfast is March 5th. Here is a link for the LVPCA chapter and a link for the latest pdf file of the local newsletter. http://vista.pca.org/lvs/ For the newsletter, click on "Sandscipt" on the navigation menu down the left.
  10. Driving a 996CAB. I am pretty active here in the local PCA chapter. You should consider joining PCA since the local chapter has no dues and is included in your PCA membership. Not to mention, Pano is a great magazine. There is a new member breakfast in a couple weeks. Let me know if you are interested and I will get you the details. Cheers, Dell
  11. 3043 Meade Ave. It's off of DI and Valley View
  12. If you want to stay away from the dealer take it to Carl's Place on Meade Ave (876-7982). They are a local PCA sponsor and do a lot of tech sessions as well. Great shop that does ONLY porsche for over 30 years. If I had to take my car anywhere but the dealer (since I am still in warranty) I would take it to Carl.
  13. Not sure about the 986, but my 996 was the following: New Top--List is 2400 I paid 1600 New Window--List is 680 I paid 480 Installation (let the professionals do this)--Don't remember what the reccomended labor was but I only paid for 8 hours of labor. Importnat so the work is warranted. All in all I paid a total of about $3K for parts and labor. And for what's its worth, the reason I changed my top is that my wife didn't like the grey top and wanted black so I totally understand :)
  14. Where did you take your car? In Vegas? As for the $4K quote. That is ludicrous since the mechanic didn't even know what it was. He just put a random number on it! Anyway, back to the point. Let me know a bit more and where you took it. Then we can go form there.
  15. No problem. FYI...I just checked out the warranty write-up for my switch replacement. They indicated 1.5 hours of labor. Very easy to do yourself if you don't feel like paying out that kinda cash for a switch replacment.
  16. Brake Switch 996 613 112 01 Call Sunset (Board Sponsor) for a price quote.
  17. The factory recommended setups for the Boxster: 18" (F/R) 7.5 ET50 / 9 ET52 8 ET50 / 10 ET47 17" (F/R) 7 ET55 / 8.5 ET48
  18. Just ordered it, I'll post the results (positive I hope :) )
  19. Then if the holes don't match up then you would think I could just drill new holes, correct?
  20. Oh no, the dreaded "I think so" :) I hate being the Guinea pig! I guess I have to this time. Cross your fingers, I am placing the order. I will report back.
  21. Is it (996 595 986 92) a direct fit to the bottom of the mk1 spoiler even though it is used on the mk2 spoiler?
  22. I am going to replace my lip (996 505 98600) on the GT3 spoiler with the supercup lip (see picture) and was in need on the part number. Also, any pdf's or pics of one in use? The pic I attached is the best I could find (not that good). TIA, Dell
  23. What about those of us with Win98? Compatible?
  24. The Costco (if you can belieive it) here by my place advertises that they use Nitrogen for ALL fills now. I thought that was quite interesting. Looks like my net set will be from Costco :)
