  1. id be SUPER surprised if u can squeeze that in to 996 narrow body, i doubt it....
  2. i have the same car as you, but i am running ® 265/35/19 that may help if your rear is scratching. 265 also wont bog down the C2 as much as the 295s. i have the same fronts as you on lowered coilovers, dont have any problems unless full lock turning. 19"s have always been about the look only. if your #1 concern is handling, braking, accerlation, you're much better off on 18"s setup.
  3. my 2c do not try to save that extra penny when selecting garage for paintjob, make sure its reputable and they do it well... i recently learnt the hard way, redid the whole car in 06 spec black. it was COMPLETE NIGHTMARE. 3 weeks after i got the carback, i split the front lower spoiler and also received a 6" SUPER DEEP scratch... and now planning to i have to redo it all over again (or at least respray 4-5 panels)... =(
  4. cool redcobra, show us some pics when ure done with it... goodluck!
  5. its a local garage in hon gkong. if you like i can email you the details, pls send me your email address theres some better pics of the conversion here... http://www.renntech.org/forums/index.php?&...tem&CID=941 like ur car....what suspension ur u running thanks, just running affordable H&R coilovers (height adjust, no stiffness adjust). handling improves but dont expect it to correct the huge bodyroll from a fat C2 cab

  7. Hi i have a 2001 C2 Cab (plastic windows). The major lining of the whole convertible seems to have broke. When the top is open and then i close it, the two major plastic lines running across the top are exposed instead of tucked inside the fabric. the end of the lining where it meets the body work (behind the rear window) doesnt even pull tight and theres a hole there the fabric is supposed to totally cover the top (causing wind noise) Anyone experienced this? any quick fix to pull this lining back or make it tighter?
  8. wires adn conncetions all came with the 997 lights, but a custom bracket had to be made for the housing
  9. Hi there, i guess not that many people track cars using stock C2s. Anyway, i just wanted to share my experience last weekend, i took the car to Zhuhai International Racetrack for the 1st time. the car is 2001 996 C2 3.4L Cabriolet, stock engine, on H&R coilovers, running 19" rims and 235/35 and 285/30 MIchelin sports. the track itself takes around 2" to complete, website www.zic.com.cn 1) the car is noticeably slower, clumsier and heavier than my boxster-S 987. the body roll ( i think due to car being Cab) was absolutely horribble, even the H&R coilovers cant save it. 2) was running -1.5" and -1" cambber at the start, neutral toe, and tire pressures front 32PSI, rear 34 PSI. the car was understeering into the corner and midcorner and didnt felt too grippy at all. in the PM i greatly reduced to Front 26 PSI and rear 28 PSI, the handling improved considerably (along with tire wear ..!!) 3) on your questions, i think 18' would be the best copromise in terms of acceleration handling etc, and way better than my 19"s. 17"s would be acceptable if you are running hard suspension setup but if its just stock or springs-only, the body roll will be horrible. reduction of tire pressure in terms of Back/front ratio, should aid the understeer problem. oversteer isnt that much of a problem if u are tracking with PSM.... cheers wayne
  10. TO do a proper conversion, i realy dont think its worth it, especially if you are in North America where cars are relatively more affordable. I did my 996 C2 CAB conversion around 6 months ago and it was quite painful. Fitting of the fibreglass wasn't that good and I re-sprayed the whole car too. I was quite happy with the conversion as I had spend around HKD 80000 (around 10K USD, of which more than half was for the paint job). just for your information, before the financial crisis hit, a 2000 C2 CAB (3.4 not 3.6) costs around 90K USD here, and 2006 C2 CAB (997) still costs around (150k). The Conversion I did consist of 1) Custom Local fibreglass front bumber 2) Custom fibreglass front wheelarch panels 3) factory lights totally 6 and custom bracket. its cheaper but proper porsche enthusiasts can spot the difference right away with the different bonnet lines. If you want to do it properly - i konw a guy who blew 20K US with these pieces instead 1) Custom front bumper 2) Metal bonnet 3) modified factory steel wheelarch panels 4) factory lights etc Sorry i still dont know how to upload pics but there is a photo of my car here http://www.28car.com/sell_dsp.php?h_id=283756 (in black with the 997 conversion) and here is what the car looked like before i bought it (ewww... brown on blue....!!) http://www.28car.com/sell_dsp.php?h_id=246104 i decided get this car, coz its only 1 out of 3 manual-shift 996 cabs to ever reach Hong Kong and i cant afford a 997.... Here is another link to another 996 -997 conversion car, when u have bad fibreglass and poor paintjob, this is what you get http://www.28car.com/sell_dsp.php?h_id=286624
  11. You can call up Wheeldynamics who sell a lot of 19's to 996 owners. I have a 996 C2 CAB and the VE 19"s fit pretty well, I have 2" lowered H&R coilovers but they dont rub at all. They are 19x8 19x9.5 I cant remember the offset but I am so surprised that people are able to run 19x11 on the rear. For those numbers you got, I doubt you can run them unless you have rolled guards, a tad more camber.... Cheers
  12. Mike, hope your car is riding well. i am about to have a second attempt to put 19"s on the car and fingers crossed. 2 weeks ago i tried to put my 19" gemballas from my 987 Boxster S and IT DID NOT WORK BY A MILLION MILES (it stuck out around one inch). the specs of the wheels 19x9 ET57 on 235/35 19x10.5 ET44 on 285/30 it seems to me 19x 10.5 will only work with offset at least around 55-60 and the best is 19x10 on offset around 52-56. will take some photos when im done (shooting for no spacers, no fender rolling). wayne
