  1. I agree with Opposite Lock, there is not alot of info about the rear boot / trunk on this site. I have a 2000 Boxster and thank god the manual release works but the push botton on the key wont open the rear lid. I can hear the motor trying at the rear latch but it wont flip open. I enjoyed that part of the car very handy to throw ya crap in so you have nothing inside to roll around when your driving the beast. Funny thing is I got the fuel filler fixed at the last service. The guy wouldnt have done it I dont think without the printed picture DIY guide I got off here. Problem there was the plastic pin looking closer was not sliding to lock the fuel filler cap. Again you could hear the motor trying to work but the plastic pin had snapped. 2 hour job mind you :D If anyone has some idea about the rear boot issue I now have it would be much appreciated.
  2. The MAF is located just upstream of the air filter housing. Just take a look at the fat round plastic tube between the air filter housing and the throttle body and you will see it held in place with two Torx (security) screws and an electrical connector pressed in place into it. After you remove the engine cover, stand on the driver's side of the car, facing the passenger side and just look straight down into that edge of the engine compartment, you can't miss it. Regards, Maurice. Does anyone have a pic or step by step directions to get to the MAF. Do you access it from the top where the roof folds into? Hoping to clear the Dura Faults attatched by first cleaning the MAF then later replacing. Is there somewhere on here that has some pictures to show me how to even remove the engine cover let alone find the MAF, I have no idea but would like to attempt to clean the MAF and see what all the fuss is about :D
  3. I got the first service done and gave them a copy of this report a week before it was booked in, however they didnt really seem interested in replacing the MAF. I got no report on it either when I got it back, the car seems to run fine. How do you know when you really need to replace the MAP, does the car run ruff or something?
  4. The fuel door does have a lock and it is part of the factory alarm system. Do I have to remove the fender to fix this? That alone could be a nightmare let alone finding the part number for the sliding lock. Im sure I can hear the thing trying to lock when I activate the alarm. Hey Loren, can you confirm the alian lick things are different on each side? I got the tossa who put the handsfree kit in to fix it so I only get One beep now. Had to take it back twice coz he pinched the microphone wire when reconnection an alarm cable he forgot to do! No, you do not remove the fender. Replacing the Gas/Fuel Door Actuator Very handy Loren, I havnt been on since I got the first service coz its been a total joy. During that first service I gave them a printed copy on how to fix the fuel door and they did the job. Now the fuel lid locks which is great. I doubt they would have bothered without your DIY guide, very handy and thanks :D
  5. Going in for service this Wed, fingers crossed I dont get the call for additional work, though I've booked in for Gold Class to see the new Batman flik so good luck with that! I am guessing they wont cover parts that need to be replaced under scheduled servicing, but I will ask when I get the service including spark plugs which I booked in for next week :D

  8. Thanks rsfeller good to hear my alien eyes are normal, strange set up though. I am surprised the fuel lid does not have a lock though, I am sure I can hear a motor trying to do something around there when I arm the car. Germans . . . LOL

  10. The microphone is up near the alian like sensors in the upper centre console, he didnt plug back in the sensors so that got rid of the doulbe beep when using the alarm. I presume the single beep now refers to the fuel filler lid not engaging. Poked a rod in there and cant feel the bit that should slide through to lock the fuel lid does anyone know how to fix that or the part number? Also back to those alian eye sensors only one side has LED looking bits over the chip, the other side just has the chip exposed, is that normal or should both sides have the LED looking sensors?
  11. After a closer inspection today it seems the fuel filler cap whilst making the sound to lock does not have a pin in it to lock the filler cap. Secondly after pulling off the drivers side alien eye sensor in the central roof lock area one sensor has no LED looking bits so maybe they misplaced it when they instsalled my hands free kit last week?? Anyways I will work on getting them both fixed but interesting to note the fault code comes up with passenger side for RHS cars, very German!
  12. Great post, would love one similar on changing my spark plugs on a 2000 Boxster RHD Australian specks
  13. Thanks for that report on my fault codes, I will start with the MAF, are any of these faults urgent and what do they effect? With regards to the warranty, it's through Fortron an after market thing and I agree servicing every 6 months is very old school but if I dont do it im sure they wont pay for any claims!
  14. I think I will take it back to the guy who installed the handsfree car kit and see if he will take the blame for the pax side sensor and fix it. I dont like the doulbe horn beep one was enough!
  15. Just done my first Durametric analysis of my new car and just wondering if any of these codes are easy to fix myself DIY or just let the guy know for my next service? Its a 2000 Model due for its 80,000kms service and I've found someone who can actually replace the spark plugs. I will also have to get the oil changes at least every 6 months as I purchased a 3 year warranty so wondering what you guys think about using synthetic or Mobil 1 as oil. I drive about 5000kms per year and the trip to the office is only 1km. It's only been a week of ownership and all seems well with this car. Will be selling my SLK after the first service for my Boxster, though I might miss the folding hard roof :D
  16. Week 1 of ownership and got my Durametrics via UPS today. The following Alarm codes are showing after a removal of the original porsche phone installation and new install of a parrot.biz 3200LS handsfree kit. It seems the first two codes may void each other, so its the third code that Im looking for a solution for. The 2000 Boxster RHD beeped once on pressing the key remote to lock prior to the install, but now beeps twice. Should I get the people who installed the handsfree kit to repair as their microphone is very close to those alian like infarred sensors located near the roof lock down handle, or is it an unrelated problem? There is no moisture under the seat even though it was left outside during very heavy downpour a few days ago, so at least I know the roof has no leaks :D Also, its only been a week but I'm really enjoying driving it, but I notice abit of slide pushing it around corners despite having Pirelli PZero's on it!
  17. Just picked up my 2000 Boxster cleaning the MAF sounds easy enough but where is it located? I have a top with glass window. It doesn't go back very far, which leaves very little work space and it was the first time I ever saw the engine. If I had to do it again, 5 - 10 minutes tops...
  18. LOL guess we will have to read it up in the service manual :P What do you guys feed your soft top with?
  19. Finally found a couple of local Boxster's that take my fancy. One has done only 12,000kms though a 97 Model White the same as my current SLK, the other a 2000 Model with 78,000kms (last 2 services only minor) due for FRONT brakes now ($1200) and REAR perhaps between service ($1000), wheel allignment DUE NOW ($200) and SPARK PLUGS and SEALS are OVERDUE. After having found the Green one, I hesitated because of a "tappets" like sound from the vent after the doors. So I got a secondary porsche "dealer" to give me a paid for pre-inspection report, the sound is still there and apparently is normal despite myself having not heard this sound from a Boxster with 129,000kms on the clock and another with 11,000kms, the White one above. I was abit dissapointed in the report, not of it's content, but realizing these cars were specialized and inexperienced "mechanics" were charging very high rates. I just wish I had one of those Durametric Code Scanners. worth googling They guy who did the inspection and had at least serviced it the last time if not both times it was there from the invoices I've seen, told me he had never done a spark plug change and when asked a second time to extimate the cost, could not even guestimate! Anyways, over all that, if I get the Green one it will happen in 4 days as its the end of the financial year. If it doesn't work out, I'll get the code reader and keep you posted about the next one im interested in :D (Min Spec's if your selling are Yr 2000)
