  1. The 2nd generation definitely looks better than the 1st gen PSE. And I hope it is an improvement. But how sure are you that the internals are extensively modified? As opposed to just adding an extra outflow pipe off the stock case. From what I've seen with my 1st gen PSE nothing would surprise me.
  2. Interesting, can you do it for the 996 as well? I have anew Expedition with a Homelink module in the visor, I'm thinking about going down to the Ford dealer and adapting it to the p car.
  3. Hey DJ, what's that? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> That is what you see when you look down inside the PSE, I wish it was homemade :( .
  4. When there are people lining up to buy them for $1500- $2000++ why not? that's part of being the most profitable car company in the world. Take a standard muffler add $25 worth of pipe and valves then sell it for 2-4X as much as the stock muffler....
  5. Mike, I think they are for brake cooling, not sure. Did you do coilovers on your car? how do you like them compared to 030? Doug
  6. Isn't there a switch or something on the back of the light assembly for LHD or RHD?
  7. "Question 2: I listened to the sound file on the Fabspeed website. Can anyone share their thoughts on the differences/similarities between the Fabspeed mufflers and the PSE." I have had the old style PSE and now Fabspeeds, and Rufs a long time ago. Sound wise they all sound good, especially the PSE. However I think there are some build quality issuess on the early PSE. Fit and finish wise the fabs win hands down.
  8. I use Pagid Orange pads at the track, talk about hand of God stopping power. But they SQUEAL like a dump truck on the street. Don't forget to change your brake fluid to ATE Super Blue or similar.
  9. I love my Fabspeed tips, you can buy them for $350 by themselves or $100 with a set of mufflers, which is a hell of a deal. Techart, Gemballa and Ruf among others also make tips ($$$).
  10. I have one and there are a ton of scratch marks on the thing. It was something like $140 installed when I first bought the car.
  11. BBS or Techart. It should say something on the backside of the wheel.
  12. I wonder what happens to the welds and internals when they smash in the body of the muffler. Nothing good I'm sure. This may or may not explain why my muffler sounds like it has a loose beer can inside when struck with a rubber mallet. :censored:
  13. I stand corrected, I crawled up under the car and the mufflers are definitely mashed in just like yours. I can also plainly see on the driver side that the vacum diaphram is rubbing against the heat shield on the body of the car and left a nice big gouge! The other side appears to have more clearance. Overall not very nice.
  14. I was referring to the bent up heat shields on the muffler and the car, the mufflers themselves aren't bashed in like yours. But the result seems to be the same:(
  15. Mine looks exactly the same on the driver side! It sounded like a loose beer can inside the muffler. I managed to bend the smaller heat shield so it would stop making noise. When the dealer checked it out, by banging on the exhaust with a rubber mallet, the passenger side sounded even worse, like it had a lot of loose parts inside of it. This is all very disconcerting to me since the PSE is a very expensive upgrade compared to other aftermarket choices. The dealer is going to warranty both mufflers and replace them with the newer style PSE. Unless the sound of the new PSE just blows me away I'll take 'em off and sell them before they rattle too.
  16. The cables should drop right into the plastic connectors when the tool is used. FWIW when I used the tool to check my factory setup, after marking the cables, it was off by a few threads. I wouldn't install a B&M without the tool as a guide , unless I used the Porsche method of removing the cables off the shifter.
  17. That's probably what I will do, either Fabspeed or GHL etc... After the new warrantied PSE is installed I'll offer it up for sale. I don't think I'll have any trouble selling like a new PSE. Maybe someone will have better luck with them.
  18. Took my car in to have the shop take a look at my PSE, as the rattling has returned. Now it seems as though the heat shield on the driver side muffler is loose and the valve on the passenger side muffler is broken. They are going to warranty the mufflers of course, but with an '02-on or 3.6 version of the PSE as the older 3.4 version has been superseeded. I'm not really crazy about the larger 3.6 PSE on my 3.4 as I would have liked to keep the car model year correct, but I don't have much choice. I am also more than a little concerned about the quality and reliability of the PSE mufflers, the valves appear to be the source of potential problems. I have half a mind to sell the new PSE as soon as I get the car home and go with something else. :(
  19. True enough Loren, I bought them from the local dealer so I never saw how they arrived. I wonder how much trouble it would be to simply wack out the valves and replace them with appropriate sized tubing? Right now the car sounds ridiculous with the rattle, but I'm sure they will warranty it since it is less than 2 years old.
  20. Update: Well the muffler is still rattling, It stopped for a while with the new tip but now it's worse than ever. I took a look and it appears the heat shield that connects to the valve is very loose. On the whole I would have to say I am very disappointed with the quality, or lack of, on the PSE. I guess anything with valves etc is bound to fail eventually. If I can get them to warranty it fine, otherwise I'll just get rid of them and find another high quality aftermarket muffler, like Ruf, but not as expensive. I'm really pissed :censored: Braincutter, the labor was about $140 or so on the windshield. FWIW the CGT that was at the track that day also cracked his windshield from flying debris, I would hate to see his bill! It appears they did some work on the track recently and now 3 cars I know of have some sort of damage...
  21. Yep, the dealer had it in stock, an OEM part. It actually ended up being $588 with seals etc , not including labor. The muffler rattle was a broken weld on one of the tips.
  22. My muffler rattle turned out to be a broken weld on the exhaust tip.
  23. Should fit any narrow body 996, unless the C4 has different offsets, which I doubt.
