  2. K... bought a sachs K70246-01 kit off ebay....$439. Thanks settled. Now for the rear main 997.101.212.00 ? Have I heard something about a specail tool or an allignment tool for this? IMS bearing,..... whats the best tool to take one out. And what happens when an oil separator fails?
  3. AOS? is this the rear main seal? Cause I am getting some leakage back there, But it hasnt left a drop on the garge floor yet. My 996 only has 46K? on it and I got it with 42K on it, So my guess is that previous owner wasnt great with the clutch cause i got an audi with 154K on it with the OEM clutch in it and I put all of them on it with no issues. I was planning on the IMS bearing upgrade/update just for necessary piece of my mind. However I see lots of diffrent "upgrades" for it and a few tools to remove the old one
  4. I have a 1999 C2 996 and when Im WFO and shift from 1st to 2nd, she is slipping for a few seconds and I can smell the clutch burning. I am wondering were everyone is getting thier clutches and about how much. My eninge is all stock... but I dont mind going a little overboard.
  5. Sounds like your thrust bearing (in engine) is allowing for too much axle play. Have someone start the engine and push the clutch in.... watch the crank pull to see if it moves out when they press the clutch in and moves back in when they release. I dont know the tolerances of the crankshaft axle play but i know its tight. You may even place a screwdriver just in front of the pully, and see if it starts rubbing when your freind pushed the clutch in. My 2nd quess would be that someone bent (twisted) the clutch fork while doing the clutch job by just pulling the tranny only and not taping the fork down untill the tranny was lined up.
  6. Well, I bought this wing I figure it would be easier once I got it to figure this out. I found this imprinted into the decklid and again in the wing 99/2001 PORSCHE 996 WING 591518 M 1 On a sticker on it says "fin" its has something hand written that says race or rare..... I cant make out the last two letters I cant seem to find anything though im sure its going to fit now. Here are a few more pics
  7. Sweet Find! Is that list in order of least to most favorite? If so I would think that 914-6 would be closer to the end of the list
  8. http://mashaw.biz/996Coup.asp This is the closest I've found this one the 3rd brake light sticks out and it has a big vent in the middle of the tailbase. The wing throws me off becuase of the to intakes on the end of it. I just want to make sure its going to fit a c2 996 and not be a 993 or a turbo wing
  9. I talked to this guy selling this thing, He said it comes with a grille for the top. He says it will fit the 996 C2 and said he only knows its an aftermarket decklid with wing. I noticed that it doesnt have the whole(s) for intake(s) for the turbo models but I would like to know more about this wing

Here is what happened, one of the lights that luminate the back-lighting of the dash broke and the peice of metal that was on the base crossed over ontp the turn signal base Here is the light, notice part of the base is gone Once your got the dash out, If your trying to figure out how to get the rear pastic separated from the middle white part. All you have to do is unplug it by sliding these two prongs out. Here was what mine did to the plastic flexable curcuit board
  12. ok... got the lenses off.... screwdriver thought the back and pushed the tab up I can tell there at least 4 screws that hold the white plastic (middle) to the rear, I got the bottom 2 out. I have NO idea how to get to the upper 2
  13. ok.... I got the cluster off (much easier than i though in 5mins or so) and partily taken apart.... I pulled all the bulbs out, every thing looks really clean. I cant figure out how to get this thing apart. I have slid the 2 clips that hold the rear plastic, the board and the front plastic/lenses together. Ive almost got the front off, but something is holding it together on the top in the middle. The back plastic is what Im really tring to get off but I have no idea how it comes off, I pulled the 5 bulbs out that go though it, Im thinking that the ears on the 3 pigtails have to be pushed in all at the same time. Any pointers?
  14. Every once in a while, my dash lights on the right side of the dash go off. When it does the right turn signal indicator comes on... sometimes its like this for 2 mins, sometimes for 20. Its obvious the power that feeds the lights is being redirected to the signal indicator. I am quessing a light bulb socket that feeds the dash lights is not in correct and sometimes touches the turn signal indicator circut. Has anyone ever had this issue.
  15. On my audi a6 2.7t ..... I got this code, It turned out to be the cam seal on the cam that has the has the hall sensor on it was leaking oil, the oil got into the sensor and messed it up. I know its a diffrent engine but I feel it could be relivent.... Mine also ran fine and idled a but ruff.
  16. Well I got a 99 C2 and when I start it up the lifters carry on for about 1-2 secs, I am about to change my oil and have no idea whats in it. I seen a post on here about a year ago which I cant find where someone said to use a certain wieght of oil and I think i am Mobil 1 full sythethic 0w-40 or 5w-40. I did read the whole DIY oil change thing which covers wieghts of oils but no one seems to talk about how to stop every lifter on the car ticking for 2 secs..... or is this normal?
  17. Well, Once I got this waterpump off I knew for sure this was it. I put a new one on in about an hour........ Sounds great!!! Thanks guys
