  1. Need to align the GT3 and an incoming Spec Miata race car- the Smartstrings setup and camber-caster tools look promising. Hype or the real deal? The cost would be less than one alignment at the dealer and he's not even sure the GT3 will go up the ramp because it's so low... of course on their ads (Smart Racing ProductsJ) they show a 911 race car.

  3. You may have been over at rennlist too as this question sounds familiar, but I have servotronic, factory 19's with Pirellis, air suspension, 5-04 build, 4300 miles, and NO vibration.
  4. Just added a Drawtite analog brake controller using the factory VW plug and wires for a very neat installation. Added the Pollak adapter in back which plugs into the factory wiring- used it to pull a single axle enclosed trailer last weekend. Worked great- nice little extra turn signal in the speedometer shows the trailer lights are working. Threw no errors- my car is a May '04 build which may mean it has the updates already in it...
  5. Going to investigate under the vehicle this weekend. I assume the filter isn't under that round plastic cover on the front top right side of the engine then? I love where BMW puts them up top so easy to get to, guess I was hoping... Love the air suspension and being able to lower it to wash it! My wife had some guy flag her down in the grocery store parking lot today to ask her what it was? When he saw the Porsche crest he couldn't believe it...
  6. Loren, as usual, thanks again. Have a project for this weekend now- taking off the panels underneath so I can look at the engine!!
  7. Haven't removed the covers yet to look but are the TWO drain plugs pretty self explainatory? Why two? Glad the filters are the same as GT3- can stock up!
  8. Any DIY for oil changes for Cayenne S? The GT3 DIY was very useful...
  9. Finally got my S and boy does it ride and handle well with the air suspension! Got the clear corners in ( a hell of a lot harder than in the 911), the V1 hardwired, and the windows rainxed. Now trying to program 3 garage door openers (after carefully re-reading the manual) and the first one went fine but I can't get the other 2 buttons to program, and they're not rolling code door openers. Wonder what the trick is?? Any ideas...

    A/C is out

Aren't computers wonderful? Must have Microsoft software in there somewhere!

    A/C is out

Guess I'm lucky but it works fine (used it yesterday driving back from an autocross.) and it sat thru an Iowa winter with the air not turned on (obviously) for several months. Really don't need it when temp is below zero!! For those of us in winter climates, we don't turn it on in any road cars even used every day for several months...

    Brake bleeding

I've said this a hundred times but I still am surprised no one has made an aftermarket software program for Porsches like VAG-COM. There is definitely a market!!

    Brake bleeding

How have people been bleeding their brakes- using a pressure bleeder or a friend or family member with a strong right leg? I just helped my son bleed the brakes on his Audi TT using the VAG-COM computer software and it actually activates the brake pressure booster and steps you through the process, with the computer doing some of it itself. Never in over 30 years have I done it this way! Not sure what that does over the regular way. Anything special with the GT3?
  14. Kevin- what kind of brake controller do you use? I heard of troubles with wiring them and lots of conflicting stories.
  15. Looks good in black- my will be black/black. Are those 22's??? A little stiff ride? Yes I'm getting air suspension should that should be great for towing.
  16. Definitely need to get over to MAM this year- want to put the GT3 on the track to really enjoy it! Also want to do a spec Miata race over there. Nice to have a track only 2 hours away from home!!! Beats 7 1/2 to Elkhart Lake, but nothing else is worth that drive!
  17. Just want some experiences people have had towing - want to tow either a GT3 or spec Miata in an enclosed Trailex aluminum trailer (empy weight 1800 lbs) with an S. Shouldn't be a problem should it?
  18. There are hills in Iowa, but obviously no mountains per se. The furthest I'd be going is Wisconsin (Road America). I used to have a pretty heavy enclosed trailer for racing shifter karts and it liked a 2500 GMC crew cab to pull it loaded but I want to downsize the trailer anyway so it's easier to store in the winter. The trailex guy says no problem but then of course he's trying to sell me one! Selling the GMC because it's just too big to drive around town and my wife doesn't like driving it. She can't wait for the Cayenne!!
  19. The Trailex I"m considering is an 18' V nose which is about 4-5 feet high inside to be only a little higher than the Cayenne when being pulled. It is not the type of trailer you can stand up in etc. It keeps the car clean and out of the elements. Empty the trailer weighs about 1800 lbs. Shouldn't a S be able to handle that? I too would never pull a loaded 24' trailer with a Cayenne!
  20. Looking for an enclosed trailer big enough for a 911 or Spec Maita to pull with my incoming Cayenne S. Any one have a Trailex or any other good aluminum (read light weight) enclosed trailer they're happy with??
  21. Thanks. That's what I used and I now have both installed- drives great and the look of the interior is much improved. Highly recommended...
  22. My search came up empty and I know I saw some here or at rennlist. Want to do that and put in a EVO shiftlink at the same time...thanks...

  24. Will be interested to hear comments on this. I got my car towards the end of fall last year when the bugs were dying off and i didn't drive it much in the winter. We had tons of grasshoppers last summer and I can imagine what the car will look like after a 8 hour drive to Elkhart Lake later this summer!! After a few days on the road my company car, an A4 quattro was a mess!
  25. I remember a thread about checking order status but the search came up empty. What does ACPORD mean?
