  1. post-33721-1256517451_thumb.jpgHi. I keep getting P1128 cel on my 00 box S. Ive tightened all the intake hose clamps and cleaned the maf and thottle body but the light came back. I dont see any leaks or broken hoses. Secondly is this oil leak bad ,would it effect the clutch? Should I try an oil stopleak additive. I was planning to change the oil soon last time was last july. Thanks for the advisement.
  2. Hi, I love the dash on my 2001 986 and wouldn't want to change it. However, I would like to use a portable GPS unit. The usual place to stick these is on the windscreen. However this leaves an unsightly ring which is also a thief's invitation to break in and steal the GPS. I was thinking of mounting the unit to the dash using 3M velcro-type patches, but there's not a lot of room as one needs to keep the air bag area free. Does anyone have any nifty solutions for mounting a GPS to the 986?

I mounted my gps on the console cubby of my boxster with a rubber o ring and a small paper clamp clipped in the seam above the shifter. It swivels while i turn. The rubber case I bought for my gps has a belt clip and I hooked the rubber ring on that. Perfecto

  3. I have a boxster S year 2000 with 41000 miles on it. My problem is I feel the clutch is hard to hold down when stopped. I am resorting to putting it in neutral and keeping my foot off the cluch at lights or in traffic which saves my leg and prevents lazy foot slipping the clutch. I dont get any other issues with slipping or noises and Im not ready yet to get a new clutch. It also tends to stall because of the pressure on the pedal to hold it down....would bleeding the system help this? This was a porsche certified used car 3 years ago at ~34000 I've had it a year now. Thanks
I will try to bleed it maybe do the brakes as well with the power bleeder. I have new brake pads but apparently no new clutch. Then if I need a clutch my options seem to be a dealer or weekend project for my son and I.

I saw the sachs clutch and the porsche clutch and some guy on you tube about a kevlar clutch seems like a complicated job for the DIY er. Thanks

  5. If the tapping doesn't do it, check the brake line from the caliper back for kinks or pinches.

You might try bleeding the brakes to see if fluid comes out. Maybe even release some trapped air.

I've never had one freeze open. My 914 has had several rear brakes require rebuilds, but the symptom was failure to release.

And it is easier to diagnose when the pads clamp down and heat up the rotor and wheel.

Thanks ,because this is a new car to me as 3rd owner Im discovering some issues. The brake seems much better now that I degreased the rotor.

When I set the tire pressures according to the manual the steering wheel seems off center ever slightly
