  1. Direct from Solisto. It was not hard but shipping is not cost effective. I am talking to them about distribution in the US but I need to see what kind of a demand there is. If anyone is interested, please let me know. Thank you!
  2. Does the ipod interface with the Solisto unit essentially make the CD changer useless? Is it more or less a audio in? Sounds like it was a pretty easy install. Can you PM me your price? Thanks! Yes, you need to unplug your CD changer. There are two wire harnesses behind the radio unit that are for the CD changer. You unplug them and replace them with the harness from Solisto. The Solisto unit has two inputs, one for direct ipod plug in and another for AUX input with stereo headphone jack. I will take some pictures of the unit and post them in the next few days.
  3. Mine is doing the same thing. 2002 996 Turbo. When I push hard against the passanger side airbag area, it stops.
  4. I just put in my first tank full of Sonoco 100 oct gas last Saturday and I did not feel a great improvement in power. But, my gas gauge went dead this morning. Not sure if they are related but the coincidence is interesting.
  5. I have a unit for sale. I bought two for that reason. I am in Colorado. Contact me. jack_chung@kunilexus.com
  6. Update. I purchased two Solisto units from Europe and installed it in less than half an hour in my 2002 996 turbo with PCM1 Nav. It works great! There are few things you need to do with your playlist on the ipod and you do not get song title or artist info on your nav screen but it works just like a CD changer. I love it! Sound quality is great too. If interested, I have one for sale.
  7. Thanks for the reply. But the systems for PCM1 nav from 1999 to 2002 seem to use a different system that is not compatible with ipod connectors for PCM2 nav of 2003 to 2005. The only ipod connector system that works with the PCM1 is the Solisto from Europe. I will let you know as soon as I test it for myself. Thanks for the input!
  8. For anyone in the U.S. looking for this unit, I am in the act of getting a unit from Europe sent out and installed to evaluate. If things function as they are suppose to, I'll let everyone know.
  9. Thank you for the info. I thought the Solisto product was only available in Europe but I'm trying to get them here in the U.S. If I can, I'll post where and how. My extensive research on this matter has lead me to the concusion that this is the only solution to the PCM1 ipod issue. If anyone else has a different solution, PLEASE let us know. There's a lot of us who is looking. Thank you!
  10. Thanks guys. Always great answers!
  11. Hello all. I have been searching the forums for a definitive solution to ipod connection issues for my 2002 996 turbo with PCM1 Navigation unit. I have a CD changer that I am willing to unplug if I can hook up an ipod. I hear few solution (europe only) but nothing definitive for U.S. cars or parts that are available in the U.S. I am willing to try a little wire splicing but nothing major. I have tried cassett adaptors and FM modulator with out much clarity. Any suggestions? Thank you!
  12. Are you talking about the slot that looks like a memory card slot? It's just right of the nav screen? If so, I have been wondering about it too. I do not have the manual for the radio/nav on my car so I'm not sure what it is. Does anyone know the exact name of the 2002 996 turbo nav system's name? Is it just PCM1? I have been looking for an ipod connection kit and they always ask for the name of my stereo. Is it a Blaupunkt? I would appreciate any info. Thank you!
  13. Heh, thanks yeah paragon used to be a regular GTG, however and for whatever reasons they were...uh closed. Kuni...I have bought 10 Lexi over the years...great cars. You should join our rides one of these times....lots of folks from your neck of the woods. My HREs have the same problem...one of the reasons I went with OZ rims.... Please call me or email me with any ride events. I would love to go for a drive! Thanks! jack_chung@kunilexus.com (303)434-5313
  14. Yes I do have park assist! I just had the spark plugs changed so they must not have replugged it back. Thanks!
  15. Statman, I see you took some pictures in front of Paragon Motors. It was a great store but I guess not profitable. I used to manage the Shane Company so for lunch, visited Paragon for fun. Nice car!
  16. It sounds like this is the issue. I have DPE three piece forged wheels with reversed lip, painted white to match body. Looks great, sucks in the rain! Thanks guys! I'm in Castle Rock and drive frequently in Denver ( I work at Kuni Lexus). If you see a white 996TT with white wheels and a large carbon fiber wing, please wave at me!
  17. My battery was disconnected for a few hours to do some maintenance (Spark plugs, oil change, replace coolant reservoir) and now when I put the car in reverse, an alarm sounds until I am out of reverse. I have a 2002 TT with a 6 speed. Anyone knows how to turn that off? It's starting to get annoying!
  18. I'm having an issue when I drive in the rain. I have PS2 245/35/19 and 305/30/19 on DPS forged wheels. Tread life is aroung 70%. When I hit 70mph in the rain, the car starts to exhibit an odd behavior. It feels like the front wheels are out of balance and the steering wheel starts to shake. As I go faster, the shake becomes violent. So violent that I cannot go past 78mph. In dry, smooth as glass. An alignment was done less than a month ago. I do have a GT2 style wing. Anyone else experience this problem? Solution? Thanks!
  19. Not my mechanic's fault. I took the spark plug to him. My bad!
  20. I got my 996TT back yesterday with the Beru Plugs and it runs perfect again. It definitely was the Pulstar Plugs that was not compatible with the 996TT. Please be aware and don't use these plugs on a 996TT!
  21. Hello all, great Porsche forum and super information. This is my first time adding a comment in RennTech but I think an important one. I'm a car junky and I have been blessed to have had and worked on many nice cars. My 3 1/2 year old is named Enzo! I just had my local mechanic install Pulstar spark plugs on my 2002 996TT yesterday along with changing out a leaking coolant tank (which was a pain in the neck to replace). He is experienced in working on Porsches. It started up great and smooth and he left the engine run for about five minutes before I drove it down the street to test. Then, about two minutes into the drive, the engine sounded like I threw a rod! I limped back to the shop and they parked it to see what was going on. I had the check engine light and a message saying get to my nearest dealer. OBD II scanner said miss fires in multiple cylinders. The tech thought the plugs were too hot and it was causing pre-ignition. They let her sit overnight with battery unplugged and today they started her up. It was fine, no codes and smooth idle. The tech took her out to see if anything was going to happen and sure enough, about five minutes in to the drive, same thing. As soon as the engine heats up, the plugs are causing pre-ignition. He had the bumper cover off and the plugs out as I delivered a set of Porsche plugs to them right at 6PM as they were closing shop. The tech pulled the Pulstar plug to show me and they were a mess. Just in ten minutes of driving time on them, a few were completely black, few were white, and few looked normal. The original plugs I had before with 30k miles looked uniformed and burned clean (no white residues or completely burnted on black residues). Also, the tops of the Pulstar plug's electrodes had a rainbow like colors on them (heat related?). I hope I did not damage my engine with the detonation issues caused by the plugs. When they install the Porsche plugs tomorrow, I should have a better idea of what's going on and that should be definitive that the plugs were the issue. Pulstar's website said the the plugs will not harm the car in any way. It just creates a better and hotter spark, I think it said 20,000 times more powerful spark. Well, in my case I think the spark was too hot. I wonder if they even tested the plugs on a 996TT ( I hope they did since they have a plug for my specification ). Has anyone out there used these plugs on a Porsche? 996TT specifically? I would love to know. They come with 30 money back but that's not the issue. I will update with more info on my Turbo after the new plugs are installed tomorrow. Thanks for all the wonderful information!
