Jbooker replied to Jbooker's topic in 997-1 Series (Carrera, Carrera 4, Carrera 2S, Carrera 4S)Jager: Thanks a lot for your help. The sealant was right where you said it would be, and unopened. Do you think it is still viable after 12 years? A little more probing led me to the air pump under the floor carpet. Guess you need to have an empty frunk if you are going to have a flat! I also found a small folding mirror on a rod. I have no idea what that is for. I have read some discussion about adding a spare tire and jack. I will consider that since I bought the car with the intention of doing some travel. I have a jack and tools in my 01 Boxster but I am not sure that spare tire will fit or provide enough support, especially in back. Maybe one of the expandable spares is a better idea? Wish I could also add a dip stick! John
Jbooker replied to Jbooker's topic in 997-1 Series (Carrera, Carrera 4, Carrera 2S, Carrera 4S)Thanks JFP. I will be taking it for some maintenance items and will make sure the shop has it for a cold start.
Jbooker posted a topic in 997-1 Series (Carrera, Carrera 4, Carrera 2S, Carrera 4S)New owner of 06 C4S. No temporary tire like my 01. Owner's manual and web search produces info about a can of tire sealant. After lots of looking I have failed to find the sealant or even a place where it could be stored. Being a 4 the common cubbies in the frunk are limited to one hatch, which houses the brake reservoir. Do I have a can of tire sealant and, if so, where did Porsche hide it? Thanks.
Jbooker posted a topic in 997-1 Series (Carrera, Carrera 4, Carrera 2S, Carrera 4S)Relatively new to me 06 C4S Tip with 31K. Had PPI and have driven for a couple of months. Drivetrain is smooth and quiet, except for cold start noise. This noise is a rattling along with a rotating vibration, until 2-3 minutes passes and both disappear with a click. Then all is smooth and quiet. I am used to air pump whirring and increased idle RPM on my 01 Boxster which I have owned since nearly new. Likely culprits? I have not removed the drive belt since it is not a continuing sound.
