  1. Hello all... My 04 S has decided to not let the seatbelt for the right rear side out. Seems it is jammed somehow. It is in the retracted position. When I attempt to pull it out gently or otherwise it simply will not pay out any slack. It will retract further but wont allow any belt to come out. Has this happened to anyone else? I can see the mechanism if I remove the access panel in the cargo area but don't know if there is anything I can try before I head to the dealer.
  2. Just bought a set of Zimmerman F&R cross drilled rotors for my 04 S from a vendor on Ebay per mudman2's suggestion. Just checked again and they still have 9 sets. They show a BIN at 600 or best offer and I offered 450. The offer was IMMEDIATELY accepted which tells me I should have offered less. Shipping was 60.00 Took them a week to finally ship and that only after I initiated the dispute process with paypal. Finally got them one week after they were shipped.
  3. I've seen a bunch of aftermarket LED tail light kits for Gen 1 Cayennes on Ebay. Anyone here have any experience either installing a pair or have their dealer (if that's possible) retro fit a pair on their Cayenne? Thinking that would be the next best upgrade for my 04 S. Happy Holidays all!
  4. Surely if it were the starter it would be making this sound all the time at start up? For my car at least it has been intermittent. I don't know the location of the starter motor on the car but this just sounds like an air leak that seals itself almost at once. Another $0.02
  5. I don't think so. I think the fuel pumps do their thing when the front door opens after sitting for a while. I will hear a hum or whatever that sound is for about a second when the door opens. I considered that normal. This quite loud sound happens only on start up after the key has been turned to start the ignition sequence. Hasn't happened in a while. I know it's waiting to do this right after someone is admiring the car and I fire it up. Kind of like the hamsters in the AC unit making racket non-stop only when I have a passenger...
  6. I had something I would call a chemical odor until I replaced the cabin air filter. The outgoing filter had the odor. Dont know what it was. The original owner had a problem with the battery leaking. It's under the drivers seat. The dealer replaced the battery and cleaned out the compartment. For a short time I was thinking it was a leaking battery. Very pungent scent 2004 S as well.
  7. Hey Loren, I need the cupholder insert too. I have a 2004 Cayenne S 4.5 Black exterior and beige/sand interior. Can you advise of the part number? Many thanks! KR
  8. A new phenomenon has come to my 04 Cayenne S. 74K miles On cold start up I hear what I will call a Kazoo sound at the moment just AFTER the engine ignites. And it immediately tapers once the engine is spinning. Less than one second. This does not happen on subsequent starts after the engine is at operating temps. Today, after sitting for about an hour (engine off), I jump in to fire it up to head off and the engine spits, sputters, and then dies. It would not allow another attempted start until I removed the key completely. I remove the key and try to start it again. It spits and sputters and then I tap the gas pedal a little bit and it finally ignites. It has not done this since with three different shut downs and restarts today and the engine light has not come on for any of these events. Anything I need to concern myself with base on others experiences? Something about to fail? Eject seats about to fire unexpectedly?
  9. Thanks... didn't know if the computers need to be calibrated for the VERY MINOR difference is circumference or not...
  10. Chris, You've got mail... Loren, Would you be kind enough to forward that TSB to me as well? Many thanks! KR EDIT: D'oh! I found where the TSB's live! No need to forward it. Thanks!!!
  11. Awesome! Thanks for the reply. One of the online tire suppliers shows a possible tire that could be used as the 255/50-19 If I use the 255/50-19 it will keep the exact same diameter as the stock 255/55-18 If I go with the 275/45-19 it will cause a speedometer reading 1% too fast. Anyone think this is a big deal? Can/Should the computer be calibrated for the difference in diameter for the 275's?
  12. Couple questions about OEM wheels. My 04 S has 18 inch (five spoke) wheels and I am considering a set of 19 inch (ten spoke) factory wheels. Are the 19 wheels 8 or 9 inches wide? Will there be any fittiment issues with regard to offset or width going from an 18 to a factory 19in wheel?
  13. Thanks for the quick response. This had gone away for some time and has now returned. This makes me wonder if there are updated parts for this (like the ignition coil problems) or will the dealer simply install the same "old" parts? Any word from Porsche about this in the history of these vehicles? What is it exactly that is happening inside there that makes this noise? Sweet hamster love? Poor part design?

  15. Hello all! I'm thrilled to have found this community. I purchased an 04 Cayenne S w/72K miles a couple months ago and am loving it. The reason for my post is I am hearing a lot of sounds coming from the center console, forward of the gear selector. The car functions properly from my perspective and I have no complaints other than these noises are somewhat annoying. The best way I can describe these noises would be mild thumping, tapping, and strangely, it sounds like something is being stretched or being pulled taught when this happens. Are there actuators and valves or hamsters inside the console working to keep this car running properly? I don't believe it is related to the AC as it happens whether or not it is on. Has anyone else experienced this phenomenon? Should I do anything? The service records indicate the transmission control module was replaced under warranty before 12K miles. Thanks in advance for any info.
