  1. My 99 Carrera 4 does not have ther 4th stalk. If I install the OEM 4th stalk as detailed here is there any additional wiring needed? or with the 4th stalk installed I simply need to visit the dealer and have the OBC enabled? Sorry if it's a dumb question but I've read several posts and reviewed the fantastic PDF install procedure and can't tell if wiring is needed or not. thanks!
  2. I have 997 OEM rubber mats in my 996 and they fit fine. The passenger is absolutely perfect. The driver's mat is a bit larger than the 996 one around the area where the fuse cover is. I like them so much it's not an issue for me.
  3. How did you get out the "square" glass immobilizer out of the 997 key head? Mine is absolutely cemented in place and won't budge. I'm going to get out the dremel and try to grind it out without destroying the rest. I planned to merely remove the glass immobilizer from the 997 key and swap the glass tube immobilizer from the 996 into the 997 location and glue it in (I assumed this would make the key work).
  4. Is the immobilizer the "glass tube" thing in the 996 key head? I got a 997 key for a few dollars on e-bay and as a lark thought I would try to convert it to use the immobilizer from the 996. I'm in the process of dremeling out the 997 key head (and in the process destroying the immobilizer in the 997 key. However it looks like if I can simply swap the glass tube (assuming that is the immobilizer) it should not be a problem. Pictures to follow.
  5. With 15mm all around do you like the look? Are the fenders evenly filled? Thanks! Going to order the FVG kit with longer bolts. 18" 15mm around ,h/r with bilstein hd and h/r sways
  6. wheels in the front need more spacing to fill up the fenders? Looks like the front needs more spacing than the back. I'm thinking about going with 15 MM H&R spacers all around. At this pont i'm concerned with looks and not track performance.
  7. Wow. 4 hours later and it appears to be a quart or more low. What the heck? If you drained all the fluids and installed close the factory spe amount of fluid - how can it be low?
  8. I may be forced to use my 1999 Carrera 4 as my primary ride for the winter. It makes me cringe to think about the nasty Vermont winters and road salt, etc. I'm currently looking at snow tires as yesterday I took it out in about 1 inch of snow and stopping was very scary. So, does anyone drive their C4 all winter long and can you give me any advice on snow tires, operation, etc Thank you! Eric
  9. I have OEM 997 Black Rubber mats in my 99 C4 with a Savanna Beige interior and they are awesome! Way better than aftermarket. Can post a picture if you like. There is a small fitment issue on the drivers side with a slight bulge by the fuse box but after a few days the mat conforms perfectly. The passenger side is perfect.
  10. Just wondering if there are any issues with installing bypass pipes (I know they are louder).
  11. Loren - is the seatbelt "rose" the black plastic "U" shaped cover where the shoulder belt goes into the side panel?
  12. Sorry! 1999 C4 Coupe. Premium Sound. Want to get the rear quarter panel off so I can post the how to on installing Focal Polyglass 130 5 1/2 speakers. I've already done one side but want to improve the install for the other side.
  13. I'm working on upgrading my rear speakers and a photo DIY to be posted here. I've already installed one speaker but think the procedure would be much neater if I were to remove the interior panel and finish the speaker install with the panel out of the vehicle. Can't figure out how to removel the interior panels - can anyone help? Thank you!.
  14. Thank you for the on topic answer about the switches not being lighted. Back to the original post. Which fuse is the front trunk bulb? Thanks! 1999 Carrera 4.
  15. Another quick question. The interior light switches on the roof panel are not illuminated (at night with the lights on) but the sunroof switch is. Is this the way it is or are the drivers side, middle light and passenger light not working either?
  16. I don't have a beep when locking the car with a single push of the button. A quick double push of the button will make the car beep. Where should I look for the microswitch - perhaps it's stuck or needs cleaning?
  17. fuse should I look for to see if it's blown? I can't seem to find a guide to the fuses in the drivers footwell. Any thoughts? Thanks! Eric
  18. I'm thinking about putting in a GT3 seat to replace my worn stock drivers seat (not a sport seat). Most of my trips in this car are occasional long distance drives. Once a year I drive to Florida and back. Do you think it's insane to put in a GT3 seat for this type of driving? Wonder how much a replacement leather sport OEM seat is? Thanks for your thoughts!
  19. I tried to search the forums but could not find any answers on this topic - so I apologize if this has been covered many times. If possible I'd like to retrofit the porsche nav system to my 1999 Carrera 4 - can it be done? Thanks again!
  20. THANK YOU! Great forum! Looking forward to participating!
  21. I have a 1999 C4 with a CD 220 radio. Can the CDR 220 be swapped? Thank you for any advice! Eric
