  1. Bill, as the saying goes, "... teach a man to fish..." They're all there! Now I don't have to keep asking the forum. Thanks so much for the tip. :renntech: Alex
  2. Quick question, I often find the "/LL" code in the remarks column when looking stuff up in the PET catalog, can someone enlighten me as to what it stands for? Many thanks, Alex
  3. Thanks Dharn55, oh h*ll, I did end up in the 997 forum, I have a MY2000 Cabrio, oops! We use 'gloss' finish tip switches. Alex
  4. I bought a '911 40th anniversary' wing from Carnewal, Belgium. It has 2 switch openings but when I went to put a blank tip switch (986 613 425 00 A01) in one of the openings I found that it does not really fit, it does not cover the opening :( sooooooo... Will I have to put 'seat heater' switches in there? That's what normally goes in those spaces. I do not think there are 2 kinds of blanks. Here's a picture of my new batwing: Alex
  5. In Option M981 can anyone describe what "leather equipment without seat covers" actually mean, what areas are actually leather? Thanks, Alex
  6. It helps to see the back of the side panels to know where to pry: This is the driver's side panel of my MY2000 996. As you can see the 3 clips are in the back. There are 3 little clips in the front of the cage that fit into the grooves in the front of the panel. To replace align the cage clips with the grooves in the side panel and snap the 3 clips on the back, and Bob's your uncle! Alex
  7. As I do more mods I find that having a picture of the back of a trim piece helps a lot in trying to figure out where to pull, snap, pry, etc. I got my new batwing today so I'm including a pic of the back, maybe it'll help someone when they are doing their own projects: Alex
  8. Thank you Loren, glad I asked since I'll need to order the rivets as well. Alex
  9. There are a couple of 'expansion rivets' (#28 in PET drawing below) in the front of the shelf under the steering wheel. Does any one have any tips on how to pop those out safely? Mine really needs replacement, they're only $50! Thank you, Alex
  10. Yeah usaf-lt-g, $859 for the console, side trim, ashtray, and ashtray surround! $400 for the pocket lids, pretty pricey stuff. Alex
  11. usaf-lt-g, Hello, Suncoast Porsche has all the 'alumilook' parts for sale. Pictures are kinda small but... My 996 already has the pocket lids and the tip knob but I'm really wanting the centre console. I'm willing to try the paint to match, I imagine several coats are needed plus a good clearcoat. It's gotta be strong enough to withstand scratches, etc. Keep posting your findings guy! Alex
  12. I'm sure AutoZone has the NXT 'Insane Shine', I plan to give it a try. Thanks, Alex
  13. I am really hating my Meguiar's 'Hot Shine High Gloss Tire Gel', it takes a lot of brushing to spread, it's messy. ugh! Has anyone tried Meguiar's NXT Generation® Insane Shine® Tire Coating? I'm seeking suggestions for a really good tyre dressing. Thanks in advance. Alex
  14. Hello guys. I am looking at the PET parts catalog under wheels as I may need to replace or repair a bent wheel. I am not sure which number applies to the FRONT wheels and which one to the REAR wheels? The catalog has a /V and an /H code, could that be it?? Or does the number itself tell me? :renntech: Alex
  15. Alex, How much did the dealer charge you to replace the coolant tank? $282.79 coolant tank $ 30.52 coolant $ 19.95 shop supplies $300.00 Labor (3 hrs. @ $100.00/hr. TOTAL: $633.26
  16. :welcome: I had the same problem a few weeks back. I changed the tank cap to no avail. It just got worse until the coolant tank was bone dry after just one drive. I took it to my local Porsche® dealer and they replaced the coolant tank. Everything works perfectly now. Alex
  17. Thanks Viola. Actually I used the super glue just to reattach the broken clips on the triangle itself, let them dry and then put it back. It's still pretty loose but it should hold until I get the new ones. Better than having a hole under the headlamp... Alex
  18. Thank you once again Loren, yeah I just mutilated one of them today trying to take it out. I ended up having to 'super glue' the pieces to put it back until my new ones arrive... I should've asked first, oh well... Take care, Alex
  19. I am replacing the 2 corner trim triangles under the headlamps. I removed one today and ended up braking off several plastic clips on it. Do I need to pop the headlights out to replace these? Alex
