  1. Stock springs are progressive rate springs so no helper is needed. Most mods will use a fixed rate spring plus a helper or tender (typically 150 lbs) I am running Moton Club Sports with 750 F/900R with helpers and am pleased with setup on my primarily track car. Two shops cautioned me not to go stiffer without a full cage as body will flex before springs... Friends with full cage dedicated track/race cars are running 1000F/1200R.
  2. Sorry, there are no (measurable) performance gains from aftermarket exhausts for normally aspirated cars. Only turbos get much benefit from exhaust changes. Loren I have often been impressed with the quality and quantity of information you offer to all of us in these forums. You are a real asset and a valuable contributor who has helped many of us with a wide range of maintenance and other issues. I must admit surprise at seeing this categorical statement coming from you. I too am skeptical of many of the performance claims we see for bolt-on modifications. On the other hand, if there is no impact form exhaust modifications, why did Porsche change the header for X-51? Why do so many racers go unmuffled to reduce back pressure? Doesn't it similarly seem logical that 100 or 200 cell Cats are likely to pose less back pressure than standard Cats (supposedly 600 cell with more restriction)? Personaly, I struggle to believe the 20-30 HP claimed of some systems, but would stop short of a categorical statement that "... there are no (measureable) performance gains from aftermarket exhauats for normally aspirated cars..."
  3. +1 for P21s for regular cleaning and heavy brake dust - but Simple Green is cheaper and often enough to do the job. If you picked up hot tire chunks that have now cooled and are stuck to the wheel (common after advanced group track sessions) you need to pull as much off by hand as possible. Clean up whatever is left after preceding steps with a good cleaner wax. Really stubborn residue may come off with Tarminator or another tar remover but I use that as a last resort, preferring to use the mildest solvent possible to avoid damaging the clear coat.
