  1. Someone on 986forum.org has already contacted someone and are in the process of making them. Won't be long I heard.
  2. Thanks for the response. I had also considered that but since mine is damaged won't that be a problem? The model needs to be intact for proper measurements to be input I thought.
  3. Well if no one has tried, I'm going to look around for a gear manufacturer to see what it costs to make a run of say twenty. Since this is really the only wear item in that transmission. Even at 50 bucks it would be a bargain compared to 600 for a new transmission.
  4. anybody tried to source a replacement gear for the convertible top transmission? its a big white nylon gear that broke on mine. new trnny is 600+ and the fix is easy just need the gear all the others are metal. thanks in advance
  5. Turns out the problem was air in the system that wouldn't bleed out with the 2 man method. Had to pressure bleed the system and pedal was back to oem feel again. Thats a big whew from me.. already spent 2500 on parts and labor (didn't want to waste any more). All the components are new and the kevlar stg 2 clutch grips a plenty.. still don't understand why it has to be broken in for 500 miles.
  6. Just changed the clutch/ pp/ flywheel and throw out bearing ; its a spec stage 2 with a fidanza lwfw. The clutch engages and disengages but the pedal stays close to the floorboard then slowly comes up and slaps the bottom of my foot. The mechanic has bled the system 3 times and says the slave cylindr looked fine on reasembly (the accumulator was replaced). The pedal is soft and doesn't go hard anymore but it is unerving to have the pedal slowly failing to return to the normal position and eventually staying downunless you pick it upand the it springs up. There is no leaking fluid anywhere. I'm very frustrated. HELP.
  7. the system uses pentosin hydraulic fluid same as the power steering system. If the spoiler is going up uneven that means you're rams are leaking, my suggestion is to add a more viscous pwr steering fluid from lucas which also has a sealer. The procedure is messy and you have to do one side at a time. The pump pushes the heavier grade just fine just a little slower up and down. I only removed the fitting at the base of the ram fluid will leak out so cover the engine/bumper. attach a 60 cc gyringe like the one used for basting to the bottom of the ram. As you now manually raise the spoiler and prop it up with2-3 folded towels, the ramm will lag behind so now inject the fluid in and youll hear the ram engage and tap the spoiler. quickly disconnect the syringe and replace the hydraulic line. Remove the towels and see how much more fluid needs to be added ; you may have to repeat to purge the system since the heavier weight fluid will displace the lighter wieght fluid. I did mine several years ago and no problems since.
  8. The last person to work on my cars transmission replaced the clutch fork pin 180 deg out of place so the threaded end is hidden. Anybody tackle this before? The mechanic says the engine might have to come out to do the clutch since he can't remove the clutch fork pin. Any ideas?
  9. any info on clutch job cost aprox for a 996 tt? I put an fvd stage 1 on my car and a week later I'm noticing slippage when the revs hit 3000 under heavy acceleration. The car has 55k miles and was otherwhise stock and didn't slip. The slip only occurs for about 1500 rpm and then the tires chirp. Almost got a ticket testing it on the expressway in all gears without checking the speed.
  10. by the way I downloaded a becker code decoder that gave me the same # as Loren.
  11. Did you get the serial number from the display sequence (per the FAQ)? Sure try odd numbers, if you have the patience. Sure enough! it was one off from the code calculator but it was odd not even.. maybe a good suggestion for the 5% that don't work( to change from odd to even or vice versa). Thanks
  12. the serial number is correct the only change is that its a cdr not cr everything else is unchanged.
  13. I tried 6848 6846 6850 6852 6844 6842 should I try odd numbers?
  14. I'm still waiting on the porsche dealer about 150 miles away to get the codes If they fail me I'll have to send them to a tuning shop since fvd didn't want to help even for a price.
  15. The program is a stage 2 fvd brombacher program. They don't test for smog in south Texas (yet) that is why i'll keep the original dme just in case.
