  1. Thanks for your advice. I hope this does not display my ignorance, but is all the hardware and components accessible through the engine hood or does the bumpber, wheel and wheel liner need to come off? Thanks Sameer
  2. 2001 996 Turbo. I've done a search and understand the vacuum lines need to be tested and all, but just not quite sure how to access all the parts.... Thanks <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Anybody have a DIY or pics or suggestions on how to access the components? (2001 996 TT) :drive: Thanks Sameer
  3. What is the proper oil wrench size for a 2001 996 TT?
  4. 2001 996 Turbo. I've done a search and understand the vacuum lines need to be tested and all, but just not quite sure how to access all the parts.... Thanks
  5. The CEL came on again today and gave the same codes as above. How easy is it to access the air pump, fittings and valves in a 996? Do I need to remove any other equipment or body parts before I tackle this problem? :help: Thanks Sameer
  6. A question for the experts. :notworthy: I have a 2001 996 TT with 28K miles; runs just fine. A few weeks ago, a CEL appeared. I purchased an OBD scanner and got two codes- 0410 and 1411. I examined the air injection/ emission system as diagramed in a previous search and nothing looked out of place. I pulled and tugged at a couple of hoses but really didn't do much beyond that. I reset/ cleared the CEL thinking I would punt to the Dealer and have them take a look at it. <_< In the mean time, the CEL has not reappeared. Question: is it possible that whatever tripped the CEL in the first place was a spontaneous one time event that has since been corrected? If the malfunction was still present, would not the CEL reappear? If the CEL has not reappeared and the car runs fine, should I bother taking it in? I did run the scanner again after clearing the codes and nothing reappeared. Any and all thoughts greatly appreciated. :) Sameer
  7. Interesting trivia in this month's Car and Driver Magazine: In the past 48 years, Porsche has had the best 0- 60 times 12 out of 48 years or 25%. The next runner up is Ferrari with 9 bests out of 48 or 19% of the time. Chevy's Corvette scored 7/48 or 14.5%. Sameer
  8. can you elaborate on "reflash"? For us novices, what exactly does that mean? :notworthy: Sameer
  9. midamerica motorworks (mamotorworks.com) and automotion.com have them for the 996 and 986- maybe try them to see if they have it for the 987 :)
  10. Does anybody have any experience regarding various after-market computer "chips/ PROMs". Specifically, ease of installation, objective data regarding enhanced performance, and warranty information? Regards Sameer
  11. Perhaps I should rephrase the question: Are tinted windows prohibited during track events? Regards
  12. Quick question for all the Racers, Do you know if tinted windows- front, back or all, are any issue for track events? :drive: Thanks Sameer
  13. I bought a replacement chin spoiler for my 2001 TT from Sunset Porsche for about $250!- roughly half of what my local dealer was charging. Sameer
  14. 1999Porsche911, Regarding purchasing a "scanner", how much do they retail for, and can you suggest any preferred brands? Thanks in advance, Sameer
  15. I've had good success with the Dent- Pro. I costs about $20 at Pep Boys and works best for round or oval dents. It does not work for linear dents. Good Luck Sameer
  16. I have had equally good service from them as well. I was looking for a "chin spoiler" and found it on the internet as well as my local Porsche dealer :censored: for about $400-440. Sunset Imports lets it out the door for $215! Wow. What a difference!
  17. Greetings and Salutations, My "chin spoiler" has been severely abraided by my steeply inclined driveway. Any recommendations other than my local Porsche dealer where to buy a replacement? Thanks Sameer
