  1. While I haven't bought a used car in some time; I always ask the seller to " represent and warrant" critical items on the Bill of Sale ... for example : Seller represents and warrants that this vehicle has had no paint or body work and has never been in an accident. ... This will usually flush out the B.S.
  2. My 987 S does the same thing ... I've never been able to get a satisfactory answer ... I have 19" wheels, do you ?
  3. That's very interesting .... I have an '05 S with 19" Michelins ... the rack told me it was a proprietary tire & size and only could be bought through Porsche Dealers ( reeks of Restraint of Trade ) but they could sell me the fronts ? Said " no thanks " and called the Porsche dealer & got a quote ... then called a local tire dealer & his deal was better and he is local so I wanted to support him ... he said it would take a few days to get them but he " knew " he could get them ... that was a week ago Friday ... we'll see what we see on Monday ... I'll keep you posted. Well, here's the update: went to my local tire dealer today, after he called saying my tires were in ( I specified N-1 several times when placing the order ) I asked to see the tires & guess what ? ... right, not N-1's. He ( a Michelin dealer ) got on the phone with Michelin whilst I went outside & called PCNA ( they are very helpfull ) on returning I learned that they had located the rears ( no problem getting the fronts ) at a Porsche dealer in another state... they would hold them for 30 minutes ! ( PCNA, by the way, basically said that N-1 was the only way to go ) so, the saga continues

  5. I had the dealer do my install ( was worried about warranty issues ) and we decided that the ipod didn't need to be inside the car ... I bought a second ipod to use on my boat & when travelling, at home etc., so the ipod in the Porsche resides right next to the cd changer & is only accessed when I need to do a sync to update. This has worked out fine & was a much easier install.
  6. I've noticed each time I've washed my car for the last 2 years, that the right front wheel has about 10 times as much brake dust as the left front & the rears have almost none ... mentioned to the mechanic at the dealership & got a blank stare .. like, " why would you care ? " Actually, I do care and am wondering if anyone else has noticed this phenomenon .. my car is an '05 987S with aboth 10,500 miles ... Thanks
  7. Tool Pants, you win the prize for the best answer .... that explains it all ... Thanks for the enlightenment.
  8. I'm curious about your car .. I thought that '05 was the first year for the 987 ... you describe yours as an '04 with LHD ... was it a Euro delivery ? Any idea how many '04's were designated as 987's ? .. Just curious.
  9. Feel like I've contacted you before, but, can't find any info. I have a 2005 987 S and am interested in the cd's for the shop manual. Can you provide copies ? and how do I go about purchasing ? Feel free to E-Mail me at jwolfe@goeaston.net. Thanks
  10. Basalt Black has a heavy metallic content ... not sure if I'd call it dark gray, but, it is not jet black by any means. I had a 968 cab that was that color ... I loved it ... my wife hated it ... just a matter of personal taste ... you'll need to check it out ... neither basalt or black look good when dirty ... I washed my 968 cab every day ... my arctic silver 987 S gets washed once a week and always looks good ... but, never as good as a freshly washed & waxed black car ... good luck.
  11. I was talking to a Porsche salesman recently who said that special 987 launch editions were introduced late 04 which were highly spec'd and all in arctic silver. Thanks for the responses .. Mine is an '05 987 S ... saw a post that referred to an '04 987 ... sounds like your salesman was right .. although, even if released in '04, I would have thought they would have titled as an '05
  12. I've been under the impression that 2005 was the first model year for the 987 series .. yet I see posts referring to earlier years with the 987 designation ... can anyone enlighten me ?? Thanks.
  13. I'm getting frustrated waiting for the Dension / DICE / "Group Buy" hookup for replacing the CD player with an ipod. Has anyone out there purchased & installed, or, had installed, the NAV-TV setup being sold on e-bay ??? If so would greatly appreciate feedback. Seems like the Dension product has been " in final testing " and " negotiations for a group buy " for a couple of months ( at least ) and I'm skeptical that it works properly ... & therefore am leery ( sp ? ) of the NAV-TV product. Appreciate any and all comments.
