  1. My 05 v6 has had a small idle issue for probably that last few years. When I start it first thing in the morning it idles fine for about the first 5 seconds. Then it starts to have an unsteady idle. Once I drive it's fine. It's fine if I stop at lights and it's normally fine if I've driven it for a while even if I run in somewhere for an hour and restart it. It seems to only do it first thing in the morning when it's cold. I haven't had any codes over the period of time that it has been this way. During that time period I have had new updated coils and plugs installed as part of routine preventative maintenance but it made no difference in the idle. No performance issue but I do wonder why it does it
  2. Agreed on number 2. Being Normal 1. May be a cardan shaft going bad. Mine hummed when I got over 40mph. Just a guess but let's see what others say
  3. Has anyone used or heard about the bosch quiet cast pads? They offer a figment for cayennes.
  4. Car has a 6 month old battery but if it sits in the garage its volt reading will drop from 12.3 ++ after driving to 11.99 or lower after sitting for 3-4 days. I think it has a slow drain somewhere but not sure where. Durametric only shows that i need a new sensor for my auto lights on/off which I do. When i have my lights set to auto in the day they are on which they shouldn't be. No big deal to me as I just leave them in off position and don't use the auto function. Any ideas on what the drain could be or how to trouble shoot it? No problems starting the car but just don't like knowing I have a slow drain. thanks guys
  5. after searching on this site and another i think that it may be the front differential. I'm going to take it to my local indy shop on monday or tuesday. Car is fine for the first 15-20 mins and then the noise comes and goes. starts when you get around 30mph and stops when you slow down to around 15mph. I'm hoping it will just be a belt or something. My second hope is that changing the differential fluid may help. I'm just not ready to drop $2500-4000 on replacing the differential. I've read where some people have made it 20,000 + miles after the sound started before changing it although I don't think i could handle the noise that long but hopefully a fluid change would help. We will see. I'm going to take a ride w/ the mechanic and let him diagnose before giving my thoughts.
  6. tire pressur is fine. after searching and reading many posts, I'm hoping its not the front differential starting to go bad. I have 53,000 miles on car. Should I possibly change the differential fluid? Oil is only about 4,000 miles old and checks out ok. What other fluids should I check? hoping it is just a belt or new fluid and not something major.
  7. Car is a 2005 V6 Cayenne w/ just over 50,000 miles. The other day after about 15 minutes of driving I could hear a noise coming from the front end. I turned radio down to hear it better and it was a whistling noise. It went away after a minute and didn't hear it again that day. Yesterday when driving I heard it again and thought maybe I had something in my front wheel or tire but then it went away again and didn't hear it for the rest of the day. Today I was driving around local neighborhoods and I heard it while driving and it would start and stop every 30 seconds to a minute at low speeds. Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks guys
  8. Kohan 22in wheels. No idea of the weight but I love them. I think they go perfectly w/ the car. Not too much!
  9. I replaced mine w/ ATE slotted rotors and oem pads. Love them so far!
  10. So I have a 2005 w/ 49700 miles and I believe I am having some coil issues. Car idles weird on first cold start of the day for about 20 seconds. If it is the coils would I still fall under this new warranty since I'm out of original warranty based on time? thanks for the info. Plan on calling Porsche dealer tommorow.
  11. I originally had the paint wear away on the rear passenger side ashtray. I was still under warranty so I took it to Porsche dealer. They started the repair and upon getting the door panel off they noticed that the ashtray piece was melted into the door panel. They then gave me a loaner vehicle for the night and next dayed a complete door panel from Atlanta to the dealership and replaced the entire door panel. I figured that it must have been something wrong with that particular panel thus the "melting." However, when the paint began to wear on the rear drivers side door I was out of warranty so I purchased the replacement ashtray from Sunset Imports(sponsor of this forum and great to deal with). I then took it to local Euro dealer. Upon taking the door panel off he showed me how the ashtray was "melted" into place. Its done like this at the factory. The part is put in place and then the ends are melted to hold it into place. He cut the old one loose and remelted the new one into place. Looks good and didn't have to replace the door panel. I hope this somewhat helps or at least gives you an idea of what is involved.

  13. So I dropped it off at the shop yesterday and they kept it for the day. Told them all of the signs that I had noticed. Upon returning they said they had been monitoring all day, had cleared codes and codes had not returned. I stated that the codes normally only return in the morning after it has sat overnight. They then asked to keep car overnight but my ride had already dropped me off. So they gave me a volt meter and told me to check my battery level in the morning and that it should be between 12.25 and 12.5. When I tested the car this morning before starting it was 12.36. I then drove the car for a morning trip and upon returning home checked the codes although no CEL had returned. Current codes are: p0056 hO2 S Heater control circuit, Bank2 sensor2, No signal communication p0036 hO2 S Heater control circuit, Bank1 sensor 2, No signal communication I cleared these codes and will drive more today and recheck battery and codes in the a.m. They want me to return car and leave it overnight. The shop is apolagetic but says they are stumped. I mentioned the coils and will make sure they do the 10minute test of the charging system on next visit. I'm so over this but hope once we get it figured out it will be back to fun driving. Thanks wvicary.
  14. wvicary, thanks for the response. You have been helpful throughout my situation. This has been a trouble free car for the three years i've owned it up until the last three months. I was wondering about the coils myself and will have them checked tommorow. I'm sure its better to go ahead and replace them all at once. The plugs were changed around April or May of this year(Bosch plugs oem spec). Should I replace them again if the coils need replacing? I think what I was trying to describe about the good flow was I believe he hooked car up to obdII or something similiar and monitored graph w/ car on. Said one was reading high and one was reading low but when he switched the o2 sensors he said that the pattern of the two were more together and flowed well.....I'm picturing a bar graph w/ two lines moving as car idles but just my thought. They actually restore old Porsche's etc and always have high end cars in(maserati etc) so I believe they have some knowledge but I don't think they have worked on very many if any Cayennes(I see some touaregs occasionally in the lot). Do you think that my sensor for my auto headlights is probably bad since it shows up on the code and since they stay on in bright daytime sun? I wonder why I still have the o2 sensor? He stated that both o2 sensors looked the same....but are obviously different since 2 different part numbers. We'll see what happens tommorow. I just want that cel to go away. Thanks for the input
  15. A few months ago I was driving my 05 v6 Cayenne and while sitting in a drive thru w/ ac on my CEL came on. Upon arriving home I checked codes w/ durametric and had the following codes: motronic 7.1 module - code p0441 Evaporative Emission System - Incorrect purge flow/ Short to ground or Positive present A/C module - code 353 Feedback from blower regulator front - Short to ground or positive Electrical System - code 2197 Potentiometer for footwell lights Cleared the codes and a few days later while car was running but in park and ac on CEL came back on. Checked codes again and had p1009 - Oxygen Sensor Behind - Catalytic Converter exchanged 353 - Feedback from blower regulator 457 - Vehical electrical system control (kessey module) Took it to local Indy dealer who deals w/ Porsche, Audi, VW, Mercedes, BMW etc. They put in new rear o2 sensors and new blower regulator and new evap purge solenoid and reset codes. Left the shop and CEL returned. I pulled into an autozone and had them check my battery and it was low. I returned to Euro shop later and told them battery was low and I thought it may be causing codes. They replaced the battery and cleared codes. I then drove car for about three weeks w/ no returning codes. Then the CEL returned. I took it back to Euro shop and the owner kept the car for the day. He had it hooked up to a diagnostic and said he thought the tech had put right o2 sensor on left and left o2 sensor on the right. He said after he changed them he was getting good flow on computer diagnostics. He reset the codes and I drove the car home w/ no cel. The next morning I turned the car on and it revved higher than normal for about 5-10 secs and then returned to normal and CEL light came on. I took it to Autozone to have battery checked again and their computer said I had a power drain somewhere in the car. All of my lights are off and I see nothing on that should be causing a drain. Also noticed when I first start it in the morning after running for about 10 secs it makes a slight sputtering sound for about 20 seconds and then is fine. Any other times I start the car during the day its fine, only the first start in the morning. Today I noticed my wife had the lights on Auto but when I was behind a car in the middle of the day(bright and sunny out) my lights were on. I proceeded to turn them to the off position and leave off. Current codes are: p1009 Oxygen sensor behind cat converter exchanged p2096 unknow dtc 18528 present 1520 rain sensor/light sensor Car is returning to the shop in the morning. I think it is related to the battery especially since everything cleared up for three weeks when a new one was put in. Could the auto lights have done this. Any suggestions guys. Thanks
  16. no but it had crossed my mind. Need to call the shop and see what they say. Is the alternator an exspensive fix? Could it be a bad or miscorrect battery? thanks
  17. Well about two months ago I got a CEL on my 05 v6. Hooked car up to Durametric and read 2 oxygen sensor codes and a blower motor regulator code and a couple others. Took it to a local Euro dealer who had previously done work to my vehicles. They hooked it up to their durametric, got the codes replaced my front 2 oxygen sensors, ac blower motor or regulator??, and invoice says the purge valve although I didn't know my v6 had a purge valve, I think it may have been a solenoid but listed it as purge valve. Cleared codes but then got a code for footwell lights and one that said: P1009 oxygen sensor behind - catalytic converter exchanged. Took it to Autozone and they tested my battery and it said bad battery. Took car back to the shop and they put in a new battery under my drivers seat. Cleared the codes and I drove the car for a week and all was well. Checked codes and none had returned. Then about a week later I got a CEL. Laptop battery was done so had to order a new one and when it finally arrived I hooked up the Durametric and had the p1009 oxygen sensor-catalytic converter exchanged codes. Also had code: p2270 Unkown dtc 18702; and code p2096 unknow dtc 1858, and code 1520 rain sensor/light sensor. Cleared codes and drove it for the day. CEL returned. Hooked up durametric and still had the o2 code and rain/sensor code and now a footwell code again. I dropped by autozone and it says battery is bad and also said something about 90% on the meter. Battery is an interstate battery w/ 2or3 year warranty. Any thoughts. I saw the original o2 sensors that were replaced and one had a tear in it so I feel most of the previous work was probably legitimate but why would my battery be draining? Also should the back o2 sensors go soon after the fronts or is this all probably just battery related? Thanks in advance. Car has 49,000miles and has been flawless to this point. Thanks in advance
  18. I never have changed it. I mentioned low battery the first time i took it in and they said there machine would tell them but never heard anything else about it. Why would some of the codes change and some not? Also when I just read the codes after clearing them this afternoon and driving some more, the Kessy 457 Vehicle electrical system control did not reappear. They removed the rear door panel to install a new ashtray in door and so maybe this had something to do w/ that fault?? Sucks if it was just a battery and they replaced all of this other stuff.
  19. Not sure I completely understand the question but I turned the key and it started to crank but wouldn't actually turn over. It was like wah, wah, wah, wah, wah, wah, wah, but wouldn't turn over. I did it again and pumped the gas and it started and no other problems. Did the same thing once over a year ago after filling up but just thought it was some freak thing. Could a gas cap be causing this?? If i start car and drive it in normal conditions its fine but when I sit w/ car parked but running I get CEL. So I checked the codes and I had all of the previous codes plus two new codes in the motronic module both referring to oxygen sensors. Shop diagnosed problems as two of the O2 sensors needed replacing, blower regulator needed replacing and purge valve. Replaced both o2 sensors on first visit and then on next trip in they replaced the blower regulator and purge valve as they had ordered incorrect ones first time. Left the shop and within an hour my CEL had returned. I called immediately but they were booked up for the day so I read codes when I got home. Now under motronic module, I have code p1009 - Oxygen Sensor Behind - Catalytic Converter exchanged. Under the A/C module I still have the 353 - Feedback from blower regulator. Finally under the Kessy module, I now have code 457 - Vehical electrical system control. Car will be going back next week.

  21. Thanks for the info. guys. Here's a little update. I came home after setting up the appointment and cleared all fault codes. Car was driven over the weekend and CEL never returned. Yesterday i scanned the car w/ Durametric and saw all of the same codes were there although still no CEL. Today I took the car to the shop and they did my oil change and then brought the car around. They said that since the CEL was off it should be fine. I then told them that the Durametric was still showing the codes, although I had told them this already upon arriving. He looked at the list of codes I had written down and he said the gas cap was probably my problem but to wait and see and that my a/c freon was low so we set up an appointment to drain AC system and refill w/ freon to specs. He then said he'd make sure nothing else was wrong when I take it back in a few days for the AC service. I told him about the evap purge solenoid and about the battery being low and he said he'd check the battery on my return visit as well. I left a little upset I'd gone there for the diagnostic and then decided to do oil while there and they just kinda skipped over the diagnostic, although I have been pretty happy w/ this shop overall. Awesome prices and normally knowledgable advice but today was not a shining moment. I left and drove the car some more and while sitting in a drive-thru waiting for food the CEL appeared again. I had not sat anywhere in my weekend driving other than stoplights and so it seems my CEL only comes on if i'm parked w/ car running for over 3-5 minutes. I immediately called the shop and they said drop by however, when I did they were slammed and I said i'd bring it back one of the next two mornings to beat the crowd. I then went and filled the car up w/ gas and made sure to click the gas cap about 10 times after fueling to make sure it was closed properly. I then tried to start the car and when I released the key the car kept trying to turn over but wouldn't. I had to turn key off so it would stop trying. I then tried again and had to pump the gas. It finally started on third try and no problems on the way home. I will read codes later. The guy also tried to tell me that I couldn't clear the codes off of my car w/ durametric and that is why I was seeing same codes but I know I've cleared things before and not had them come back. I'll keep u posted
  22. The vehicle is a 2005 Cayenne v6 w/ about 45,000 miles. I was driving a couple of days ago and left car running w/ ac blasting while I ran in somewhere as I had people in the car. I made about three 10 minute stops in a 2 hour period and left it running w/ ac on each time. On my way home I noticed a CEL. When I arrived home I hooked up the durametric and scanned for codes. It had a couple of codes by I just cleared them in hopes they would not return and if so I'd deal with them then as the car seemed to be running fine. About two days later the car was driven again and was fine all day w/ no recurring cel light. However, towards the end of my trip I left the car running again w/ the ac on again and when I got back in the car the cel light was present again. I checked the codes this morning and they were: motronic 7.1 module - code p0441 Evaporative Emission System - Incorrect purge flow/ Short to ground or Positive present A/C module - code 353 Feedback from blower regulator front - Short to ground or positive Electrical System - code 2197 Potentiometer for footwell lights I drove the vehicle today and I ran problem free all day but when I sat in the Chick-fil-a drive thru waiting on my food, it came back on. I then ran by local Euro shop that put new brakes and plugs in car recently and they said they could look at it on Tuesday but that the Evaporative code may have to do w/ my gas cap. I forget exactly what they said about the a/c code but they said they would diagnose when I bring it back in. I think they said I may need a fan replaced or something. Didn't act like either thing was a big deal but just wondered if anyone else has any ideas. Vehicle seems to run normally and AC seems to cool normally as well. Vehicle had plugs changed about 5,000 miles ago and new engine filter and is due for an oil change but nothing else major. Thanks in advance.
  23. Thanks guys. Just figured I'd snap a few before getting dirty again. Would like to do a photo shoot in the state park this summer.
