  1. I had a very similar issue at around 135k miles and it turned out to be a primary fuel pump failure, took a while to diagnose. Loren can probably attest to the price, but it cost less than $400 for the pump.
  2. I just replaced the low pitch horn on my 04 Cayenne S. The only tools you need are a starhead screwdriver for the wheel well screws and a 10mm box wrench to remove the nut that secures the horn. Total install was 30 mins, 10 of which was spent trying to get my arms in the wheel well and unclip the old horn from the cable coupler. FYI, the low pitch horn is on the driver's side, the high pitch is on the passenger. Got the horn from Sunset Imports in Beaverton OR, for about $38. :renntech:
  3. Do you know which side is the high pitch and which side is the low pitch horn? Driver/Passenger?
  4. I also have the dying cow issue with my low pitch horn in my 2004 Cayenne S. Has anyone seen a DIY replacement with pictures. Is it relatively easy to remove the bumper and replace the horns? Any ideas, I use the horn so infrequently that I can't justify several hundred $$$ at the dealership to replace a noise maker. However, when I do need to use the horn to avoid having a soccer mom slam into the side of me ask they are yapping on their cell phone, I feel embarrased that a $70k vehicle sounds like a dying cow. Can anyone send me a link to a thread or diagram that shows how to access the horns. Thanks!
  5. I have had both repairs done for the harsh shifting on my 04 Cayenne S, here was my take away and diagnosis: First issued appeared around 55k miles: Harsh shifting in lower (1/2) gears. This lead to replacing the valve guide assembly, a costly repair around $2000. I noticed this was in the transmission, look at the screen to see if it happens when gears are changing or just prior. I just got the car back from the shop at 75k miles. I had intermittent studdering when the vehicle would be in 5/6 at a speed of around 35-40 and I eased on the gas. The car would studder/soft backfire (not shift) and then eventually downshift and accelerate like normal. I could prevent this from happening if I used the tiptronic to downshift prior to putting the car under load in 6th gear. The shop replaced the ignition coils for around $500. The car now rides as smoothly as it did when it came off the lot. It seems that these are the two culprits for the harsh shifting (at least reported so far).
  6. I just ordered the OEM wiper replacements off of Amazon.com for 30.28 with shipping, less than half of AutoZone or Schucks and 1/3 dealer price. The super saver shipping said 5 - 9 days, but they arrived next day.   7. I had the same problem with my reset button, replaced the button and it worked just fine. Found the button at Sunset Imports in Portland for about $25, pretty expensive piece of plastic but half what the local dealer wanted.
