  1. I've just been through though this with my car. As others have suggested tears or holes in the foam drip tray is a common problem and allows water to flow onto the carpet behind the seats. In my case the holes weren't obvious until the trays were removed. The holes were underneath and behind the folding bracket which sits over the tray. The good news is that these are (relatively) cheap and easy to replace. Also, check to see if the carpet on the bottom half of your doors is wet. A failing door membrane can also let water into the cabin. Good luck.
