  1. im probablygoing to make a habit of changing the oil once a season (roughly 4-5k kms) while the car is up on blocks for the winter. if you do it yourself its not as hard on the budget.
  2. whats the difference between alcantara and suede...besides cost., since they look so similar.
  3. take off ur mufflers and measure it. it looks like 3" roughly, but better you measure it to be presice.
  4. the headlamps between the canadian car and us car are the same, so it should just be the fuse that you need to put in. i'll ask over on rennlist as one of the people recently did this.
  5. hmm... porsche has these little holders that you could throw in. they weigh nothing. there's a pop out sliding cd tray and a hollow holder for like cigarettes or cellphones and stuff.
  6. my PET says that its a Fire Extinguisher from Porsche Motorsport.
  7. ^ yeah they're made by recaro (very solid workmanship...just make sure you don't carry any fat chicks in them) GT350, additionally to all the very good points made here about doing some DE's and basic bolt ons, a bit of weight reduction wouldn't hurt either, maybe get the car down to RS spec?
  8. do you have to get the ECU tuned for the lighter flywheel? i read a lot of threads over @ rennlist and it seems that the GT3 owners who go from the stock to the single mass unit recommend a computer tune in order to get full benifit.
  9. ^ they mount to the side of the gt3 seat (there's a bolt there for that). i'm not sure where to mount them in the car. i'd guess that you can mount them to the same point as the stock ones. some people use the seat rails on the stock seats but i woudln't recommend it, not without some reenforcement.
  10. approximatly how long would this take? 30-40 kilometers? is that for E-Gas cars or all 996's?
  11. GT3 Seats also have a harness? D*mn..i'll have 2 rewire the stuff i cut out of my old seats. and disable that bastard airbag light. captain chaos: depending on if the dealer put the stock 3pt belt thru the holes in the seat, you'd also have 2 unclip the belt at one point to slide it out. If you need directions for that let me know and i'll try to post the excerpts from the shop manual.
  12. i believe it is possible 2 reset the computer by unplugging the battery but i don't know why or if this would cause the dead zone in the throttle. I also have the same problem (and had a battery die on me in autum) but i think it might be something to do with the gas pedal and various cables being loose so that you're not getting proper opening/closing of the throttle. i don't know if a scan tool will tell you, but if you have one, plug it in and have a look for any anomalies.
  13. its just 4 bolts holding it to the floor of the car. unbolt them, lift seat out of car.
  14. thanks a lot loren. i gotta update my manual set. in order to properly remove the C pillar you have to take out the a and b right?
  15. also, if i drill out the rear seat brackets like this guy did, is it possible to weld them back in?
  16. ^ probably, i mean even the cup car engines which are based on the much more durable GT engines, need a rebuild after what? 30 Hrs? 40 at most? During that thime they'll probably see 20-30,000 Kms.
  17. Loren, What if instead of getting the RMS fixed everytime, one was to just top off the oil as needed to keep it at optimum levels. Would the engine get worst? With the freqeuency that some of these engines encounter RMS problems, if there is no catastrophic consequence to just topping off the oil, why bother getting it fixed? I mean, unless the leak gets really bad of course.
  18. What is the difference between the engines, is it just the timing or the camshafts? How come the other engines are derated? It is the same basic engine afterall isn't it?
  19. there are a lot of little things that i'm surprised arn't covered in the manual. for instance it doesn't cover installation of all the trim bits, rear seats and what not. installation of suspensions and stuff. i'm guesing this stuff is covered in suplements. Loren, how much does porche charge per suppliment? like 50 bucks?
  20. ^ I too have purchased one of those. check www.workshopmanuals.co.uk excelent service and fast and free shipping from the UK (no affiliation, just a happy customer)
