  1. Thanks. My appointment at the dealer is in 10 days (it's crazy how busy they are here in lebanon). I will be sure to tell them to check it out. Do you know if the car is dangerous to drive till then?
  2. Hey, I have a problem with my steering where every time I turn my steering wheel at low speeds it makes a creaking sound just like an old metal box and when cruising at high speeds the steering wheel tends to shake, plus when I'm in my parking lot and make a full left turn my right wheel feels like its chopping in to the ground (don't know how to explain it?). I am sending my car down to the dealer soon to get the steering checked out and have been advise from the renntech forum that the problem might be from any of the following parts: control arm, ball joints, mounts, strut mount, strut, steering rack, tie rod... Any advise on any other parts that could be the culprit? & Are any of these parts covered by my warranty? Thanks, Ali
  3. You're gonna love the Dension 500 ipod integration unit... I installed mine a few months back and don't know how I was living with out it... My advice would be to have a specialist do the installation for you, that's what I did and it works like a charm. Good luck with the installation and enjoy listening to your 1,000 + songs.....
  4. As has been mentioned here by several folks, there is no need to idle the engine to warm it up. In fact, excessive idling can do more harm to the engine than good and should be avoided. I start my car, wait until the idle settles down, maybe 10-15 seconds, and drive off making sure to keep it under 4000 RPM's until the oil reaches normal operating temperature. Oil temperature is more important than coolant temp where engine wear is concerned. In the warmer months it doesn't take very long for the oil temp to reach normal which for me is 200 degrees give or take. Then you can drive it like you stole it. Hahahaha I love the "drive it like you stole it" bit... Thanks for the advice...
  5. +1 for this. The manual says there's no need for a warmup idle. I start driving immediately and just keep it under 4k RPM until my water temp is nominal. I don't let the car sit on idle after driving, but my last two miles or so are always gentle so I don't put it away too hot. M. I know I have read the manual but you know how the common myth that everyone says is that you should always warm up the engine before driving off... Never could get enough confidence to just fire her up and drive off :) .... But from now on I will just turn the engine on and drive off and for the first 5 minutes I will make sure to keep RPM's under 4,200....
  6. Is it advised to warm up my CS2 - 997 after it being in the garage over night, usually I turn it on and let it warm up for around 3 minutes before driving off.... Also should I keep it on for a bit after driving it hard so that the fan can cool off the motor before turning the engine off or is this only for Turbo's...?
  7. I read this post this morning and it made me drive my car to work, on sports mode all the way! :drive: I am thinking of trying my car on the track sometime but is there anything I should worry about? (e.g. tires, brakes, oil, maintenance) I hit the track occasionally but I never track my own car (don't have the heart to :) )..... This summer I'm going to Leipzig to attend the Porsche Racing School... Hitting the track is the most fun ever!!! and surprisingly it makes you drive your car on public roads much slower because you get all the racing out of your system on the track and start to understand that public roads aren't made for racing, the track is!!!! Would definitely advise going to the track but don't know what you should look out for if you track your own car...
  8. Could you also include in your letter to Porsche to have them include the map of Lebanon on the Middle East NAV CD... I know it's a small country but you would be amazed the amount of Porsche's we have there!!! Beirut is a very posh city and people love to show off. However till now we don't have a map for Lebanon on the PCM even though there are a few mapping companies who have already mapped Lebanon and all Porsche has to do is buy the maps from them and integrate them into the PCM. Thanks
  9. Yes, buy a MY2006 or newer - the engine problems were sorted by then. If an '06 is out of your range, doesn't hurt to look at the 05s so long as it has (or you buy) a warranty. Not speaking from personal experience, but I made sure my C2S had a warranty (CPO) and would've bought one if it didn't. After seeing some of the failed bearing, d-chunk and other lovely pictures of grenaded low-mi engines here it was imperative. For your warranty choices, ask your local OPC sales guy for a brochure on what they sell. They'll mark it up $1000 or more, so talk them down to something reasonable or buy it directly if that's possible. Going with the OPC's choice of warranty means you're less likely to get hassle if your car is towed in dropping oil and parts. M. I second everyone's opinion. I currently own a 2005 CS2, and it runs perfectly fine with 35,000km on it (haven't had any problems with my engine), however after everything I read on the internet I wouldn't be caught dead without a warranty on it!!! Good thread, I have owned an 05 C2S cab for about 3 weeks as well, engine and all other drivetrain comps run perfectly, few issues on having 1) heated seats dont work 2) homelink doesnt work 3) my CD is stuck in the PCM! as of a couple of days ago and wont eject (this seems like a common problem) now get this, my warranty expired Apr 31st 2009, the car has 40,000km (25,000 mi) on it... what do you guys suggest? can I buy extended warranty from porsche? any pricing on this? Sam I think you should go ahead and buy an extended warranty... I've read some threads about 2005 CS2's whose engines broke down after 30K and 40K, buy it so that when the day comes you don't kick your self in the *** and wish you had. It cost me around $1,800 to get a warranty on mine after the fact that it had expired and then re-newels cost $1,500 every year (Prices in the Middle East) So yes you can buy an extended warranty, your car just need to go through a 111 point check at the dealer for warranty approval and then you can renew it every year before it expires... Consider it an extra insurance policy.....

  11. They are from Porsche... Originally ordered that way... I think they are the Porsche 19" sport wheels in black...
  12. Any body here attended the Porsche Driving School in Leipzig... A friend of mine is organizing a 6 day trip this summer which will entail the precision, performance, and master courses... It sounds fun but he was telling me that it will be very costly... Any one have any past experience with any of these courses and their prices?
  13. Looks great !!! I'm actually thinking of getting a carbon fiber interior upgrade, steering wheel and center rest to start with....
  14. I have the same problem, after having the dealer check it out they started talking about changing the whole thing and installing a new one (meaning a lot of cash from my pocket). So I just forgot about it and decided to live without the homelink. If anyone knows of an easy fix for this problem would greatly appreciate the help.
  15. You can start by taking off those wheels. . . . . and giving them to ME! Are they BBS's? Cheers HAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHA!!!! :) Sorry bro, I have emotional attachment to the RIMS!!! They are actually porsche original sports rims... Would advise anyone who has a black porsche to get them.... How about this?! its sister in Bahrian, before and after! it has the black rims now. I like your taste in cars... :)
  16. At first I advised my bro to stay away from this color, but after physically seeing it in front of me I was in love... It has a great shine to it and its unique.... Can't wait to switch cars with you on the weekends.... By the way ash is my brother and we're both Porsche enthusiasts.... Feel in love with the 4S as oppose to the S, feels much more planted and heavier from the nose... Also surprisingly I had no trouble getting the 4S into a nice drift... Great Car!!!!

  18. I'm actually thinking about getting Aerospace plastic parts for the interior... you read my mind!!!
  19. Now I'm trying to imagine Xzibit with a foreign-language overdub. How does one say "Yo Dawg" in Dutch? :) Aliballan, beautiful car. Like RFM, I enjoy the stock look. If anything, I'd remove the front plate mount, and fill the holes with plugs from www.bumperplugs.com (if you can purchase such a thing in Lebanon). Not sure what your local laws are but I've never had much trouble from the police after removing mine. If they pull me over, I'm sure the missing front plate is the LEAST of my worries. Mark The law here doesn't permit us to remove the front license plate... But i recently made a mini license plate and attached it to the front bumper, looks better than the big license plate but not as good as it would be without one.... Thanks Mark
  20. I read some stuff on the forums, but figured its just individual cases... I guess the best thing I can do is just continue extending my warranty until I want to sell the car... Thanks for help RFM, Appreciate it....
  21. What do you mean by original IMHO? and I didn't get what you were trying to say when you wrote "It sounds hard, but so true" ? Thanks
  22. This link scared the living **** out of me!!! I have a 2005 C2S with 35,000 KM on it... Haven't had any major problems with the motor or anything else till now... Should I do any kind of special check up to make sure everything is fine? Do all 2005 models break down? Please send me advice on any kinds of preventative steps I should take? P.S I have an extended warranty active on the car, Should I extend it every year just in case?
  23. I had the dension gateway 500 installed by a professional... It cost me a little bit more but rid me of any installation problems I might of had if i did it myself... Loving the installation and the integration of my ipod into the PCM...
  24. Posting up a few pics of my C2S... Any suggestions on some exterior upgrades?
