  1. Thanks Deepblue, I drove another today and it drove great..it was a very dark blue...it looked black..I think it was "midnite blue". I like sthe widebody look and it's got plenty of power..(more than the Viper I think) but luckily I opened the front trunk...very little room. Too bad, I would like something usable...I may have to go to a skinny body. Looks like the TT is just a toy?? Congrats on your find..I guess yours is dark blue also...by your screen name? Which blue is it? How bout a pic? Tony
  2. I just sold my Porsche and thinking about a used TT with 20k to 30k miles on it? :clapping: Any advice is welcome. Oh, and how much should I expect to pay? :help: Thanks, Tony
  3. [if your engine runs normally, it most probably is the cluster. If you buy a replacement make sure it is compatable with your year and model as the application changes and also the connectjors on the back are different for some model years.
  4. Well,, my Blue GAHH top ( glass window) arrived today for my 01 Lapis 2.7. It has X205 as the serial number , so it has to go back. Even at this late date...there is no guarranty any top you order will not be from old stock...guarranteed to fail. I have to send it back an try for a X269 ( for Blue)...which is made with a more generous fitment ( not so tight...ie more material...ie looser fit) and a stitching 1/2 inch from the glass window edge. Thankfully, I have been patient and suspicious of a new product....and have not installed a defective top and then have to face a reinstallation project ( I plan to do the installation myself if Tool Pants is so kind as to find a link to installation instuctions....I saw this before..but doesn't show up on my search) Regards, Tony
  5. [Many problems with these tops. Gahh has been working to solve the glass separation problem. Before installing, call Gahh and ask if you have the updated top . ...which is better than the early ones...but still may or may not fail after one year of use. GAHH 1-800-722-2292 Also some dealers will refuse to work on the car because of limited engine access. Disclaimer......This is only based on hearsay....and GAHH is reputed to be good and responsible people who are working hard to correct this Tony ..BTW good luck and keep us updated please
  6. I'm looking for the same thing myself. I also have a 01 2.7 and expect a GAhh top to arrive momentarily. I am consiering sending ti back because of all the horror stories of the window separating. Do a search on this board. GAHH called me and verified they are having trouble with there tops. Thay have told me to call them when my top arrives and read them the numbers on the box to verify it is an updated top. Let me know how you make out, Tony
  7. [Thanks for sharing this Todd. How about some driving impressions. Was the exhaust a big bottle neck? Did the Supersprint exhaust make a fantastic difference? How is the power vs a '05 Boxster S? About the same..or more like a 996 Turbo? Tony
  8. Simon, looks good. I assume yours is a '01 Lapis blue with a blue top? Any problem reusing the headliner? I understand the early models did not come with a headliner...I wonder if the owners culd update to a headliner when doing this conversion. Tony P
  9. Sometimes when changing wheels, there is a clearance problem between the wheel and brake caliper...thus the need for spacers. Some use thicker spacers than needed to improve the looks....wheels filling out the fender well better. Hope this helps Tony :drive:
  10. I am going to replace the top on my 01 2.7L and was considering a glass top. Some of my concerns: 1) How will it hold up after a year of cycling ...as far as creases and rubmarks in the fabric. Also wear/separation around glass. 2) Is there a nice headliner as on the original top. 3) Is there a funny looking raised black bead around glass which shows on colored tops. Also from the photos I have seen ( thanks to all who posted) the smaller window does not have as nice an appearance..as for as proportion...like a chopped gangsta look. I guess I'll have to see more photos. And again..there is the safety factor as far as rear visibility in the smaller size window.
  11. Glad I found this board. I like the Boxster because of the styling ( and the mid-engine...water cooled Yea). The 986 a was recommended purchase by Consumer Report. I also found out it was picked 'top ten' 5 years running by C&D . How much to pay for a v nice 01 with 50K? What to look out for? TIA Alfatony
