  1. Hi, sorry if this is a silly question, but I'm replacing the two round engine mounts (not the tranny one).
  2. Hi. So I capped off my PVC mod that replaces the whole Hemholtz box and now idle is smooth and the MAF errors are gone. Who would have thunk it: the MAF/DME coding is super sensitive to any change in airflow.
  3. Thanks for the reply. No, no air leak past the MAF. I just removed the entire Hemholtz box and nipple piece (it's all one piece), and replaced it with a hollow nipple, thru the airbox, that the small Hemoltz tube on the stock intake, connects to. So now, the small tube can actually suck (filtered) air into the intake, whereas, before, it was restricted by the Hemholtz box.
  4. Hi. My engine compartment lid doesn't stay open. I open it all the way and it slowly closes by iteself. i guess I need to change that shock. Is there a howto for that?
  5. So, I guess what I'm asking is: should I block off the small Hemholtz hose, or is it ok to leave it open (not open to unfiltered air, of course), without the Hemholtz box there?
  6. yes it Tiptronic, and I think the 5525 did happen after I downshifted, floored, and there was a bit of wheelspin! Thanks!
  7. Thanks. So I completely removed the Hemholtz box and replaced it with some PVC, orings and threaded cap to make a good seal on both sides. But it's not blocked off: the PVC I used is hollow so it lets un-Hemholtzed air through that little tube in the stock intake hose. Now I have rough idle (almost stalling at idle). But driving is great.
  8. Hi. A couple of weeks ago the ABS/PSM lights wen on. Checked code: right front wheel sensor, implausible signal. I remove it, clean off some metal filings, put the same one back in, clear the code.=, no probs for a month. Today the ABS/PSM lights went on again: 5525 incorrect data transfer with DME. Cleared it, drove a couple of miles, slammed on the brakes to kick in ABS, works fine, no codes yet.
  9. Hi. I have the stock airbox and stock intake hose on my 2000 C2 Tiptronic. I'm changing the air filter tomorrow and was wondering if I could mod it. I see some folks remove the Hemholtz box and block off that 1.5 inch hole. But I have the stock hose so I guess I would need some kind of nipple for it to attach to? Anybody do this?
  10. Hi. I'm looking for one that fits really well, is easy to remove when you work on the engine bay.
  11. Something like GTE stage 1 or even something like a Raizin voltage stabilizer. These are the kind that don't reprogram the ECU, but splice into into it.
  12. in the attached pic, there are two vacuum hoses attahed to tha grey valve. Where does the other end of the one in the foreground attach to? It seems go all the way thru the engine bay toward the front of the car.
  13. Hi. The new Sylvania Silverstar Ultra halogen headlight bulbs look pretty good. Anybody know which ones fit our cars?
  14. 'may sound silly, but if I look at my car from the side, on level ground, the distance between the top of the tire and the wheel well is less in the rear. Is it just cause the engine is back there or could it be the rear shocks need to be replaced?
  15. Hi. So the cigarette lighter is a good place for the battery tender? i mean, if i close all the doors and lock the car, the cigarette lighter will still be connected to the battery do the tender can charge it?
  16. Hi. The red light on my key is on steady. I assume that means low battery?
  17. Hi. I have the durametric tool and I wanna bleed the ABS when i bleed the brakes. I'm confused about the exact procedure. While running the ABS, are any bleeder valves open? Do I bleed the whole system like normal first, close all valves, run the ABS and call it done? or ...
  18. Ok, I used cable ties as spacers in three locations and that seems to have fixed it for now. The three are just below the two green thingies where the cables go into the two bottom regulator brackets and the other was at the top of the spring. That increased the tension enough. Thx so much.
  19. Thx so much. I'll first try that cable tie thing (near the spring) to increase tension.
  20. Hi. I noticed when I open/close the passenger side door, the window doesn't automatically go up/down as much as it should (this causes the door to be hard to close all the way). If I grab the top of the window, I can pull it up or down about an inch (doesn't move at all on the driver's side). Now, I thought it would just be the clips holding the bottom of the window that would be loose. I removed the door trim and have access to the clips and they are on tight. But the whole window regulator system (cable) has about an inch of play if I grab the window and move it up and down. Any help is appreciated.
  21. My oil cap has no date on it (or under it). It's part number 99610735054. But it's a good idea to start looking at other parts on the engine to see if they have a date on it.
  22. Hi. I have a 2000 C2 996. It has the stock yellow sidemarker turn signal lenses on the sides.
  23. Hi. I have a 2000 C2 Tip. The previous owner said the reman engine was installed in April of 2008. I bought the car in April of 2009. My question is: is there a way to tell when the reman engine was made? serial number is: M96/04AT66Y66622. Thx.
