  1. Well... I put the right tire on the left and the left on the right. I noticed that the feathering is the same on the left side. It leads me to believe that it my be a problem with the tire it self and not the alignment. WHEW! I do not notice any vibrations on the CS, so it may not be a balancing problem. Double WHEW! I bought these tires used on eBay. I wanted to see if they were going to work on my CS. I did not want to spend $800 on a set of new rear tires. I bought these for $190 for the set. They had about 50% of tread left. Great price I must say. I will update the tread if I come across something new.
  2. Congratulations! Welcome to the club. You will not be disappointed with the Cayenne. As with all German vehicles, as long as you keep up the maintenance and dont neglect your vehicle, it will run forever.
  3. I just bought a set of Sport Technos for my CS. Great wheels. They came with a set of 275/40-20 Michellin Diamaris 4X4 all the way around. I bought a set of 315/35-20 for the rears. One thing I noticed was that the right rear tire has a peculiar feathering on the inside edge. I did not notice it when the 275 was on the rears. What do you guys think could be the culprit? A deficiency in the tire or is the rear suspension slightly out of alignment. The left rear tire is fine.
  4. I need some help. My AC is not blowing cold air as much as it used to. I takes a long time for the system to start blowing cool air, not cold air out. Its been over 105 deg out here in SoCal. The fires aren't helping. I think I need to recharge the AC system. I can refill it myself. If it goes down again then I'll know that I have a leak in the system. My question is which one of two valves do I refill the system with? The one on the right or the one on the left? I will try a one pound canister of the refrigerant first. Do you think I can put two canisters?
  5. I hope my fellow Cayenne owners can help. Lately, I have been hearing and feeling a soft clunk coming from the rear brakes on my CS. I happens when I am in reverse. I am backing up and I apply the brakes to slow down. Right before the car comes to a stop, I hear and feel a clunk from what I believe is the rear brake calipers. I've checked the calipers and they are tightened properly. I am thinking that it may be the pads moving around when the calipers grip and bring the rotors to a stop. Anyone else experience this issue? Any and all help will be greatly appreciated. THX Jose
  6. Here you go. GENERAL SERVICE MANUAL Post #2 has the service manual in .pdf format. The service manual has a step by step for the spark plug change out.
  7. If you can, spring for at least a 2005 Cayenne. Too many 04 Cayenne have problems with the coils, coolant tools and other electrical problems. If you are dead set on an 04, make sure to test drive it, have it checked by a reputable Porsche mechanic and get a CPO warranty. Good luck.
  8. Well, I finally pulled the trigger. I picked up a 2006 CS with 43K miles. It was a lease return and it was in excellent condition. I am super jazzed about this car. Here it is. I hooked up my boat to it. That's the reason why I bought the Cayenne for. It pulls it like it's not even back there. This is what I used to drive I am grateful and happy to have a Porsche. I know Loren. Post pictures in the Gallery. I just had to put a couple up here.
  9. I just got my 06 CS. It came with the factory installed tow hitch (I will post some pics soon). I was reading through the owners manual and the "permissible hitch tongue weight" listed is 308 lbs. I looked at the hitch itself and it has a listed tongue weight rating of 605 lbs. Which is correct? 308 lbs is awfully low for a vehicle that is reputed to tow 7700 lbs. Trailer makers usually say that 10% of the GVWR of the trailer should by the tongue weight. Anyone have any insight to what is going on?
  10. Thanks everyone for the input. I'm not worried about gas mileage. I was trying to get a comparison with the car I am about to sell. I have a 2005 Dodge Magnum with the Hemi. I get about 15-16 around town with some freeway driving. Long freeway stretches, I am getting 20-22 MPH lightly loaded. I once got 26 MPH on a 450 mile trip by myself with the cruise set at 72 MPH. I was towing a 4200 lb ski boat with my Magnum. I got 12 MPH. Only thing was that the max tow capacity on the Magnum is 3800 lb. That's why Im getting a Cayenne. Performance, utility and fun. I guess its on too different with the mileage Im already getting.
  11. Greetings to all. I am getting ready to purchase either an 05 Cayenne Turbo or 05 S. This will be my first Porsche ever. I am very excited. I've always wanted a Porsche since I was a kid. My first Porsche lust was the black 928 in the movie "Weird Science"(Alright, Kelly LaBrock was pretty HOT also). I settled on the Cayenne because of the family needs and the 7700lb towing capacity for my ski boat. It has the best of both worlds. Power, performance(for an SUV) and it can tow a schit load. I was wondering what the other Cayenne owners are getting in real world gas mileage. When I finally get one, I will post some pictures in the other previous thread. (I know I could use the search, but I want to introduce myself first. I would like to be a contributing member as well). Again, HOLA! I will be looking forward to being an active member on this site and hopefully picking a few brains for info and DIY secrets. :D Jose
