  1. moosey, If you are still looking, the guy in the thread that I referenced previously just posted a reduced price today. I don't know if you ccontacted him or why you thought the top was already sold, but it looks like it is still available. Best of luck, ddb http://986forum.com/...ead.php?t=28378
  2. Sorry about that. thanks, but it already sold

  4. Pilot, The wheels and car look great! ddb
  5. 986Jim, You're absolutely right. In the sun the wheels really pop with detail. At other times, they look black or dark gray. I've tried many times, but have been unable to capture the sparkle detail in pictures. You do have to see them in person to really appreciate the work. ddb
  6. I went with powdercoat on my 17" Boxster S one piece wheels. It wasn't inexpensive, but they look incredible, and so far have been perfect in regard to durability. My wheels were coated with a multi-step, multi-color process that looks black in certain light and dark grey or charcoal in others. Until I saw the work that the shop was turning out, I had no idea that powdercoat could looks this way. ddb
  7. Jon, I took my new to me 2000 Boxster to be inspected about 10 months ago in NC and was also told that they couldn't communicate with the OBDII. They said that it was probably a fuse and they could check it and replace it for (x) $. I don't remember the amount but it was a lot of money. I told them no thanks that I would troubleshoot myself and come back later. I checked all the fuses and they were all good. I then called my local Porsche dealer and told them about my problem. The service advisor told me that it was rather common for this to happen and that the problem was not inserting the male connector to the car firmly enough. I returned to the inspection station and told them what I had learned on the phone and they tried again without any luck. They let me try and I pressed very hard and it worked just fine. I think the original gas caps were recalled on the MY 2000 (and maybe others). Maybe your hasn't been replaced. If it has, the dealer should have placed a sticker on the inside of your rear trunk stating so. If you don't have the sticker, the dealer will probably give you the newer cap. Good luck and let us know the resolution. ddb
  8. I have a 2000 Boxster with factory speakers in the dash and doors as well as the stock amplifier. I'm planning on adding the factory rear speakers and would like to upgrade my amplifier. I understand that some have upgraded to an OE 996 6-channel amplifier. Does anyone have the part number for this amp? Thanks, ddb
