  1. No I have not tried a different DME however being that it is at a dealer they would have a way to download/read the Code from the IMMO to verify that it is matching the DME. When I hooked up my Durametric to test I did not get any error codes of there being a mismatch using the Vin/Codes that I gave them. I wished they had a spare DME to test with to verify that it is not a bricked DME at least this would point in some direction and verification rather then just replacing parts. I suppose worst case is I can get a used DME and have them redo with my vin/codes.
  2. Richard now that I think about it ...your question "Can they connect to the DME with the PIWIS?", I would think if they can reprogram the vin's into the DME then would be connecting to it?
  3. Don't know I will ask...They tried the other Vin I gave them and No-Go, the thing that gets me is that before sending car to them I WAS able to with Durametric read out my Vin details etc of the DME and even flashed a modded file to it using the FVD software? Any other questions I should ask prior to calling.
  4. They installed new immobilizer and they said they still can not talk to the DME? At present they are trying different DME Vin#'s that I gave them. Should I have to pay for alarm box since it did not fix problem? Just upset! What are my options?
  5. Thanks Richard for qwik response I was so mad to here about the car I went to the dentist to have a tooth pulled .... now the car does not stress me out so much. I think you are right they would have to make everything match ..Vin wise. When I reinstalled the SC and before I flashed the DME problem everything was working properly.
  6. Took the car into Posrche and they said it was the Alarm box. Is it possible to get a another used alarm box (with different Vin) and install then program to match the key and the DME Vin #'s?
  7. I spoke with FVD today and I uploaded the new original DME file (via Internet) in there now and waiting to here back tomorrow.
  8. Lost with that did you mean that if the fuel pump works then the immo is working? As Logray says. I think there is some confusion when you say "the immobiliser is working". When I say the immobiliser is active, I mean that the car is immobilised. In this case, the fuel pump won't run, the engine won't crank, and the ignition won't spark. Therefore, if your fuel pump doesn't run, the immobiliser may be active. Thanks for clarification, I just wanted to know if I was getting power to the IMMO (beep sound when locking) and if that was the case then since the car ran before this happened I can assume that it still is doing what it needs to do and rule it out as a problem. If I am right here that the key talks to the IMMO then IMMO compares notes with the DME then checks system modules and allows car to crank?
  9. Correct. Having fried a DME myself (at the immo code part), I can vouch that a partially bricked DME will not fire the car, and one of the symptoms can be cranking but no fuel or spark (if the DME doesn't have the right immo code or bad immo code or corrupt immo code). The no fuel or spark part is the immobilizer. Isn't it nice? I listened for the fuel pump in trunk, but the only thing I could here is the SC intercooler water pump going. Tried opening fuel cap to listen but just heard humming of water pump. So not sure.
  10. 1. Ouch! 2. I can flash with a new tune file. I did notice that a tuning file seems to write to different areas of the memory I assume timing, AFR etc. But the original file I think writes it all along with the security key codes etc I assume this is why I get error "incorrect secuity access" when trying to program. 3. After reading my posts I can definitely claim ignorance.
  11. Does the fuel pump run? If it does not, that would be a sign that the immobiliser is active. The immobiliser inhibits cranking, ignition, and the fuel pump. Lost with that did you mean that if the fuel pump works then the immo is working?
  12. Thanks for the reply's and do believe that the Immo is working since it was not the problem to begin with. I use FVD tuning software for my tuning but get a error during software Login " Incorrect Security Access" When trying to install Original Stock file that worked, I however at this time can install the tuning file which programs specifics timing, afr etc but I believe does not carry the IPAS codes for starting. What does bricking DME mean? Can the DME be reset? If I let Porsche reprogram the DME should I take the whole car or just the DME.
  13. Thanks Logray.... Porsche did the original programming for both the vin's in the car.
  14. I checked the fuse, but will recheck the numbers you posted.
  15. Back from the dead question. Can the immobilizer security codes be read (using PST2. or other Porsche tools etc.) to make sure they are matching what is in my DME? Car not turning over with new programming.
  16. Thanks for the Tips. Well with my Durametric I get no fault codes and can read the correct DME/Vin information of car. If I am correct just connecting to the DME via Durametric tells me that the Immobilizer is working.
  17. Yes, the DME was programmed with the codes from the proper VIN car matching the immobilizer code, however car still not trying to turn over. I am trying to establish problem by ruling out that it is receiving the immobilizer code to the DME. I suspect that there was a problem when programmed.
  18. Sorry Loren, I guess I needed to re read .... 1 beep means the immobilizer is working. Gottcha.
  19. Loren, The reason is because my DME was reprogrammed with IPAS codes for original vin and used DME and vin and security IPAS codes from another car but will not turn car over and was thinking it was done improperly. Just trying to rule out immobilizer.
  20. Thanks but the beep is not my problem so to speak. "What I want to know is does the beep sound generated from the immobilizer telling me it is working? And does it have a external fuse?"
  21. I have a question does the Immobilizer have a fuse? My car beeps when locking doors does this indicate that the Immobilizer is working? This is for 2000, 996.
  22. I had a 2000 block replaced with a 1999 and my old engine had a "plug" on the drivers side head which i could tap into for oil supply to my SC, now I did not see it on the 1999 engine. Am I missing it or is there another place to tap into for oil supply to SC.?
