  1. Thank you, fasterjames! I will follow your suggestion and take a look-see. Drive it like you stole it!!! :D
  2. Hello again! I hope everyone is well. Today's question involves the intake vents on the side of my '01 Boxster S. The vent on the driver's side is mounted firmly, seeems entirely rigid and is offset (raised) slightly from the surrounding body panel. The vent on the passenger'e side of the car moves in and out, with some friction-feel, by merely pressing on it (pops in, and when released, pops back out a bit). It can't easily be pulled free of the vehicle (I didn't want to pull to hard and break something), so I'm not concerned about it falling out while driving, but I want it to be seated properly. Are the two side vents supposed to be mounted in identical fashion, or does one side normally sit more flush than the other? Can anyone direct me to a DIY about removing/installing the side vents, so I can see if something is broken? Thanks in advance for your thoughts, Fudgie
  3. As Loren said. I wanted to add that you might have the aerokit side skirts, but I can't tell from your picture. If you had a side view of the car we'd be able to tell. Thanks, azzar0, I'm pretty sure you guys nailed it for me. The cover is getting ordered tonight! See you on the road... :)
  4. Thank you, Loren. I truly appreciate your response- after I pay for my cover, I will become a contributing member. If any of my poor-*ss, under-employed friends ever steal a Porsche, I'll recommend the site to them. :D
  5. Hi Everyone! I'm totally stoked about the Boxster I bought: 2001 Boxster S Arctic silver metallic/black cloth top Black leather interior 58,000 miles Smoooooth... Anyway, my dilemma is that I want to get a quality outdoor cover, and I think I found one. Before I order it, I need to know if my car is fitted with an Aerokit. Being a "newb", I don't have a clue, and the photos I looked at online didn't help. Will any of you fine Porsche-o-philes take a minute to check out my Boxster pic and tell me whether I need the cover that fits the aerokit or not? Love the site- it's very helpful, and you folks all seem very kind and knowledgable. I look forward to being a part of the Porsche-owner community! See you on the road, Fudgie
  6. I'll take your advice, Phillipj, and thank you kindly. I believe I'll post the pic over in a Boxster forum, though, where maybe they don't know yet that I'm a total moron. It won't take them long to catch on... Cheers! :)
  7. Why do you feel so bad about having a Boxster? I would be stoked to have one. Anyway, you will probably get more answers in the Boxster-specific forum. Good luck and enjoy the car! Ah, yes, I see. I cleverly asked a Boxster question in a Carrera forum. Total rookie move! Anyway, thanks for your reply, Perucho. I really feel great about my Porsche- I've wanted one for years. Happy driving! :)
  8. I usually just say I have a hybrid- when folks ask what kind, I say half-machine, half-amphetamine-addicted cheetah on a caffiene high. :)
  9. Hi Folks! I've had my Poor-sha for a couple of weeks now, and it already feels like an extension of my body... here's a description of my new ghetto-cruiser: 2001 Boxster S Arctic Silver Metallic/black cloth top Black leather interior 6 speed manual transmission 57,500 miles Very clean and gorgeous beyond description Smoooooth... and fast! My dilemma is this- I want to get a quality (outdoor) cover ASAP, and saw one that looks suitable, but first I need to figure out if my Boxster is fitted with an "Aero Kit" or not. I looked around on the Web, but all of the photos I saw kind of looked the same. Can any of you fellow Porsche-ophiles enlighten this humble beginner? Thanks everybody! Keep the shiny side up. Ted
  10. Try 0637 or 0635 Thanks Loren. Unfortunately, the codes didn't unlock the unit. I even tried a couple of variations, staying with the "odd" scheme, to no avail. I contacted a local Porsche dealership and tried to entice them into giving me my code with the promise of getting my oil changed there. We'll see what happens... for now, I'll make due using to the mp3 player function in my Garmin Nuvi. Thanks again for the assistance. If you have not already read this FAQ - please do so... Lost Radio Code - FAQ, PLEASE READ THIS FIRST
  11. Hi Loren I love the site. I just bought a 2001 Boxster S with just under 60k miles. I'm already crazy about it! The radio was locked out when I bought the car (it did give me a great appreciation of the motor music), and two days into Porsche ownership, I'm ready for some tunage!! Here's my model and serial numbers: 4462 X50 12899 Thanks in advance for anything you can do. Ted
