  1. Ok well I think its fine..its feels fine..The spongy feel is gone. Are the Textar OEM pad the same as the Porsche pad?
  2. Hello Loren... Well I was using the Motive Power Bleeder for the first time. I just didn't go about it the correct way. When I finished flushing, I open the the Motive Power Bleeder cap on the top of the brake fluid reservoir instead of opening from the pump side and I think air released in the lines. I also open the bleed valves too much when flushing..After the second flush ( I followed your instructions this time! :)) the pedal feels great. The pads/rotors are pretty new..They seems to be bedding and feel better, but just wondering if the Textar are the same as my prior genuine Porsche pads.. Second question, if i did have to bleed the ABS how is that done?? Thanks...
  3. Hello all.. I did a search but didn't find my answer so I'd though I'd ask :) A bit of a background..I recently did a pad /rotor change and a brake flush..Initially I had air in the brake lines. I flush the brakes a 2nd time and the pedal feels great. The car doesn't have the bite when breaking as of yet. I understand there's a bedding process before the brakes really catch but out of curiosity, is the Textar pad made out of the exact same material as the Genuine Porsche brake pads (prior pads)?? Thanks!!
  4. Why was Castrol 5W-50 taken off the Porsche approved list?
  5. Sorry for no reply, I have been really busy...I never got a clear cut answer. The service manager and the body shop said it was the module. They didn't elaborate on the codes or anything (even though I questioned). How it failed, I have no idea. I do think the body shop had something to do with it. I was stuck on not paying for it, which I didn't.
  6. I wish I could give the exact codes, but I'm getting half answers from my shop (and the Porsche dealer) that is working with them). Thats why I'm trying to get info so I can counter what they are telling me. The main reason I'm baffled is because my car (air bag light was off) was fine before it went it the shop and the fact they had the air bag exsposed and working in or around the air bags. Is the airbag module a common thing that goes? Can it be shorted out somehow?
  7. Hey Loren, please respond as soon as possible (want to get back to them before the work day) I just got word from my shop. They are saying its an bad airbag module?!?! The shop told me the Porsche service said this is a common thing. I think I'm being shafted here. I mean the airbaig lights were off when I brought it into the shop. Please shed some light here. Thanks.
  8. Ok, Loren..I got you. I'll have to touch base with my shop. I'll let you know how I make out. Thanks a million for your responses!!
  9. Oh I know its the shop's fault. How would a shorted sensor occur?? I know they change my battery for some reason. They said it was dead and I know my battery was fine. Would this have anything to do with this??
  10. I didn't get the codes. The tech just said the error code was directed to the side air bags..I didn't realize it was a specific code cause I would have definitely asked. The funny thing is that I took it over to the dealer cause the guys at the body shop are so behind with things..ARRRgh. Anyway, I haven't heard from the shop today. Are there a lot of error codes for the side air bags? Like I said, after the door panels were taken off this mess has occured. Thanks for the reply.
  11. Hi, guys. I had some body work done (just painting) on my two doors. The body shop took the inside door panels off in order to take the the door handles off so the doors can be painted. Here's the problem...Somehow the person working on my car set the air bag light off. The car was taken to the dealer to reset the airbag light. Well, they couldn't get the light off. The Porsche tech said there was not a crash code, but the error is directed to the side airbags. Yesterday the body shop guy disassemble the door panels again to check if the side air bags were hooked up properly (I watched the whole process). It was hooked up, but the light is still on. I don't know what is the next step in diagnosising this problem since I haven't spoke to the shop yet. If anyone has any input what can be wrong, please reply. Thanks.
  12. Hi, my tail lights have blown in my 02 Boxster S. If I recall correclty there are four lights in the rear light assembly..they are the tail lights that stay on( larger bulb, smaller one bulb), the turn signals, and a fog light. I need the part number for the larger tail light bulbs; better yet can I get a similar bulbs in a part store such as Autozone. Thanks a lot!
  13. I just can't believe this story... Brian has been great with me. He stands by his product. Seems like the whole story isnt being told here...
  14. Sorry I didn't conclude my post. Yes, it was resolved. It turned out to be the starter. I left the car overnight so the tech could start the car early in the morning with a cold start in order to produce the sound.
  15. The sway bar doesn't have to come off for the clutch. I don't know if it needs to come off for the axle shafts If the sway bar and wheels looks ok. you could try Hunter Road force balancing - other than that I think I'd return the car to the mechanic for an explanation. YMMV - I'm barely a shade tree mechanic. Others may have better advice. I could have swore the rear sway bar was taken off when I checked on the car in the shop. I did take it back; the tech check it over, he said it was ok. I'm going to take it for another hard drive. I'll try to determine what it could be. I just may be due for an alignment. I appreciate your reply.
  16. Anyone? Just like to know if the rear sway bar is plug in play or any adjustment or off torque settings can make a difference in how the handling is supposed to perform. Thanks.
  17. I had the transmission dropped for clutch job and CV joints/axle shafts replaced. When The car was in the shop, I notice the rear sway bars were removed to do the job. The car's handling just doesn't feel right now...I'm not sure what it is. Can the sway bar be improperly installed? Just wondering...
  18. Thanks. If I had the garage space I would be attacking this DIY. If and when I need a clutch again (depending on how long I keep the car); I will be doing this myself. The link you provided...is that the size for the Boxster S (16 mm)?
  19. Thanks a lot! What was the condition of your flywheel? Mine is glazed, does that mean it definitely needs to be replaced?
  20. How much labor time would I job like this take?
  21. Bad news. Service manager say flywheel is glazed?!?! Need clutch and flywheel..Intially said $2500 with labor. He said he would check with parts manager to see if he could knock some off. Looks like I'll check with Sunset for parts. :( :(
