  1. I bought mine from Pelican Parts http://www.pelicanparts.com/cgi-bin/smart/more_info.cgi?pn=996-102-151-66-M100&catalog_description=Serpentine%20Belt%2C%206K%20X%202115%2C%20Boxster%2FBoxster%20S%20%281997-04%29%2C%20Each Part # is 996-102-151-66
  2. Checked them all, first thing I did after finding the video of the chirping that was found to be a loose plug(s). Every one of them seems torqued properly..
  3. Hey all, I'm getting a misfire (P0306) but only under very consistent circumstances (I guess this is a good thing!). If my 02 Boxster S sits for more than a full day, on initial start up I get a very brief (maybe five seconds)"loose spark plug" chirping sound and then the CEL flashes before solidifying. The car only runs rough for a total of about 30 seconds or less after the initial start up, it then clears up - sometimes the CEL stays on sometimes it shuts off. After that there are no other issues whatsoever during driving or even on start up for the rest of the day.. I've got a plug, coilpack, tube and o-rings on order but in my mind don't see how it could be any of those and be such a consistent issue. Hoping for some insight! Thanks, Tawheed
  4. Unclip the boot from the base, put it in second gear and pull! I too, at first thought it wasn't coming but with a bit of wiggling and pulling it pulled straight off :)
  5. I had this condensation issue as well and late last year after buying a new coolant reservoir cap (didn't help) I swapped out the O-rings as well. This year I finally pulled the car out and I'm still getting some condensation, I took the bleeder apart again and realized I'd messed up a couple of the holes in the tank the 7mm bolts thread into and couldn't completely snug up two of the tiny bolts.. Would these bolts not able to be completely tight cause condensation to form? Should I just replace the coolant tank or should I try replacing the bleeder assembly first? Thanks!
  6. So a friend is looking to purchase a 996 C4S, we went and checked one out today and it was equipped with the PSE (with the button). This thing sounded amazing when we fired it up and little taps on the throttle were spine tingling. I installed a Borla on my 986S soon after I purchased it and it doesn't sound nearly as awesome as the C4S. The C4S system reminded me of the bark of my old Mark IV R32 with the flappers open. Any (reasonable) way to achieve the same aural pleasure on my 986S? Thanks!
  7. I have a question on this as well. My shifting on my 02S with 32k miles has never seemed right to me. I changed the transmission fluid to no avail. If the car is sitting stationary it feels like butter but whilst driving it just fights me sometimes. Is this typically a symptom associated with a weakening motor mount? Thanks
  8. Thanks again! I will not order the tubes / o-rings and just change the plugs. Loren, I'll follow your advice and clean it off as well as possible and see what it looks like once I've driven it around a bit in the Spring/Summer.
  9. Decided to pull my wheels off and have a gander before ordering parts for my planned maintenance.. The passenger side looked completely fine to me, the driver side looked questionable. In the first pic whatever the black plastic piece is visible on top of the rightmost coilpack had Oil on / in it. The remaining pics are of the leftmost (closest to front of car) coilpack which seemed to have a lot of stainage in and around it but not sure if that's the source Is this caused by a bad o-ring / plug tube or do I have another problem?? When I pulled the coilpack out and felt inside the tube it felt dry. I don't have any oil on the floor and the car has been parked in the same spot for about 2.5 months. Thanks!
  10. Yes, definitely a low mileage car, don't get much driving time up here in Canada :) Maybe I should take a peek before ordering parts, I haven't seen any oil on the ground but I guess that doesn't mean it's not leaking. One more question - if I do decide to do them do I need to spend $50~ on the Porsche grease or can I use just about anything to grease the o-rings? Thanks
  11. Thanks for the information, guys. I guess I'll leave it be as so far, thankfully, so good. If something happens down the line I'll worry about dealing with it then!
  12. Hey guys, My car is a 2002 S and though it only has 33k miles on it I figure I'm going to change the plugs, serpentine belt and filters as I do not believe the plugs / belt have been changed yet. The car hasn't leaked any oil at all (thankfully), but I figure if I'm going after the plugs I should do the tubes / o-rings at the same time. Is it worth changing it if they're not leaking? Thanks!
  13. Hey, After owning a plethora of cars I've finally arrived at what I've always wanted - a Porsche. Initially, like many uneducated people I did not consider the Boxster at all. After owning two S2000s I really wanted a 911. All I could easily afford would be a 996 C2. I decided to drive an 03 986S and fell in love. I picked up my 2002 986S with 32k miles last Friday. Though I swore I would not mod it I'm looking at a few different exhaust options to make it sound like what a Porsche, in my mind, should. The two I'm considering are: Borla - Lots of information and some sound clips available for these, I'm not worried about drone as I never drive with the top up or FVD Brombacher listed at http://www.fvd.de/us/en/Porsche-0/Boxster_986-13-41/-/-/item/item_details/VID_14878580-VCD_92820622-gid_30-sort_4-display_50-item_BES98605000S/EXHAUST-Tuning-Muffler-BES98605000S-Sport-Muffler-%26quot%3BBrombacher%26quot%3B-986-S-Boxster--%28Sound-Version%29%2C-Stainless-Steel%2C-2x90mm.html . They have a clip of a similar one on a Cayman S and it sounds spectacular. Anyone have any clips or feedback of this exhaust on a 986S? All information will be highly appreciated. Pic attached from the drive home. Thanks, Tawheed
